  1. It's having that effect on me. The Makeemwaiteaball system of recruitment where you're grateful for whatever walks through the door.
  2. How Brentford do it: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/apr/05/brentford-ditched-their-academy-premier-league-outcasts
  3. He missed the overseas camp* and reported in on Monday of this week and previously the reason given was: "New signing Stewart Downing won't be part of the contingent* due to pre-arranged personal commitments" Its good Rovers have clarified matters.
  4. A very good question apart from obviously a midfielder
  5. Downing in for a playoff push: https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/july/here-to-help-rovers-play-off-push/ It's on the Rovers site so must be true. Save any "what else do you expect him to say"
  6. Not disagreeing on anything. My and another posters veracity was questioned and we have proven our case. Whatever the actual deadline date was or is seems to be shall we say 'flexible'. My personal opinion is that Mowbray is just too nice to just tell Rodwell to scroll on so is leaving the door open, or will try to sign him as a CB backup in case we fail to recruit from elsewhere. I don't know, still time, and time will tell.
  7. The clue is in the word deadline. Specific deadline is a new invention by you, today. "Tony Mowbray says Rovers can’t wait forever for responses to contract offers made to Craig Conway and Jack Rodwell. Both Conway and Rodwell will weigh up their options before deciding whether or not to extend their time at Ewood Park, but will be given deadlines to work to."
  8. Just seen Nixon rumour that Wigan are backing out of the Gallagher chase - too expensive
  9. I am here too much too although, which you may find hard to believe, don't post all that much and try to avoid spats! New Zealand is scoring too slowly, need to up the rate with such a fast outfield and wickets in hand. My money on India so far. OH and I forgot: LT: "Tony Mowbray says Rovers can’t wait forever for responses to contract offers made to Craig Conway and Jack Rodwell. Rovers revealed the club they were in talks with the out-of-contract pair who were regulars in the squad this season in their retained list released on Wednesday. Both Conway and Rodwell will weigh up their options before deciding whether or not to extend their time at Ewood Park, but will be given deadlines to work to"
  10. Fine by me. Assume what you want. I will assume that you are something I'd best not post
  11. No. I saw it, END OFF. Cannot be bothered searching on your behalf, Watching the Cricket.
  12. I quite like Rangers and Celtic. Jim Baxter and Jimmy Johnstone being early reasons.
  13. It was in the LT and not an assumption. Me too.
  14. It was, same deadline as Conway plus Mowbray issued a sort of warning to both to make their minds up. Conway did and left.
  15. Looks like an advert for Incontinence Pads that don't work too good
  16. Not what I meant or said. Raya became the only viable keeper option.
  17. Nothing to do with the other shite keepers we had at that time?
  18. Mowbray brought no staff with him apart from Venus and those were the terms. He took on all that still remained at Ewood, Lowe and Benson the most well known.
  19. Yes, I also thought Raya was getting better until Rodriguez deliberately kicked him in the head. He was rushed back too quickly because we had no decent cover on the books that our manager would trust.
  20. We have just sold a keeper who has regressed, see Mowbray comments. This in itself makes the GK coach fair game
  21. Moving on is great for Rayas career. He was pushed on far too quickly at Rovers but that was forced due to the other keepers we had being shite. Last season after a kick in the head he was rushed back in far too quickly. Mowbray comments at the time: "The players were feeling sick with what they saw," said the Rovers boss. "He is in hospital. The bone at the top has been pushed into the skull almost and the nose is sort of hanging off really." "The players could not look at it, it was that bad." Then Mowbray basically starts a process to force him out by calling him out in Public, dropping him for a keeper who only a few months previously was not considered good enough to be used to let Raya recover from injury, and then opening wants another keeper. Of course Raya would want out, so would any player with a bit of spunk. I'm firmly in the camp that Raya was always an accident waiting to happen so not sorry to see him go as Rovers are not equipped at manager or coaching level to improve him any time soon. I hope he thrives at Brentford and will follow his career with interest.
  22. He did, some communication guy at BC. LOL
  23. Mercer makes a very valid point but does overdo it. The only reason Benson is first team keeper coach is that it was part of the deal Mowbray accepted when Mowbray took the job. Rovers did it on the cheap by internal promotion and nothing to do with Benson's ability or experience, he was just in the right or wrong place at the right or wrong time, depending on your point of view.
  24. Got a Link, first time I have seen that suggestion.
