  1. Can he give Gueye some lessons
  2. Might actually suit him this game on the break.
  3. If that's the case we're definitely relegation fodder. Next 20 mins will tell us a lot.
  4. That says direct FK though. The players 10 yards back, the taker definitely shooting towards goal. Our was a yard away and the ball going away from goal. Not a different scenario that can interpreted differently?
  5. Not a line that makes me want to laud him. I understand the surrounding circumstances, but still, not a ringing endorsement is it.
  6. I'll join you in the boring camp. Better than the frothing at the mouth rage camp of some recent seasons. We feel like steady eddies atm, solid and functional, without really excelling. I'll take it for now. It we'd been dull steady eddies from Jan onwards those 2 years we were up top end of the league, we would have coasted into the playoffs. Probably with a lot of confidence that we were difficult to beat.
  7. Obviously not, I'm not sat at home for Nations League matches with a George's cross painted on my face and bunting up. But it could be an important step towards progression, particularly with the new manager in situ next year. I don't know the timelines, but IF we get promoted I think we'll be playing some of the big European teams in the run up to the next World Cup. If we don't, we'll still be against this current lot. Which is better practice for the battle of the top level International tournament including the likes of Brazil and Argentina. Not playing against Finland and Ireland, that's for sure. We need bigger tests for the manager to cut his teeth.
  8. I'll go against the grain, and say it's way better than the old pointless friendlies. The relegation/promotion format has added some jeopardy. To win a trophy, we have to play the best teams regularly, and learn how to beat them. Spain, Italy, Germany, France etc. We now need to get promoted to get back to playing those teams. So, there's actually quite a lot riding on the next few matches. Particularly against Greece. Give me this over the mind numbing crap you used to have against Lichtenstein with 8-10 substitutions in the 2nd half. That was a complete farce. Don't think the Nations League gets the credit it deserves. It helps some of the smaller Countries qualify for Tournaments. It's not perfect, but at least they tried to do something to increase the competitiveness of the international calendar.
  9. Happy with that. Nothing against Carsley but when he first got the gig I thought he'd be a shoe in for permanent position. And it didn't fill me with optimism.
  10. And then crash and burn, pretty fast. It's a familiar story isn't it. Just realised I got that wrong, it was FA Cup for Redknapp with Portsmouth. Getting confused with Spurs League Cup win that year, which was Juande Ramos. And didn't Harry pretty much bankrupt them to get that trophy. Says it all. English managers have an awful record.
  11. Heard on radio today last English manager to win a major trophy was Harry Redknapp in 2008. And that was just the League Cup. Awful record for homegrown managers in the supposed top league in World.
  12. Yeah, but Carsley already appears to be in tears. I'd take 2 years and the next tournament. Tbh, don't know why they're always desperate to give 4/5 year contracts. Just do it to end of next competition and say we'll review after that. I know it then leaves us exposed to manager getting poached, but that doesn't seem to be much of an issue with the National job.
  13. He pretty much quit in the post match press conferences. "....hopefully I'll be going back to the 21's" He hates the media focus I think. Not the job for him.
  14. Damn right he did. He became England manager.
  15. Very damning stat that. How can they keep collapsing so often:
  16. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Absolute mugging
  17. Crackers that this is still only 1-0. Couldn't argue with 4 or 5.
  18. Don't edit this typo, it's accurate!
  19. Stupid. And if we get past 60mins with no changes, even stupider. Clearly not working.
  20. It's the yellow I'm scared of as much as anything. And we have a replacement ready in Carter who's getting rinsed at RB. A youth team coach would spot all this, so JE better.
  21. Also, the good run of games is due to us riding a wave of confidence. Once that confidence goes you're left with just the raw quality of the players to fall back on. And it's on display in HD these last few games.
  22. If Dolan and Hyam aren't switched at HT I'm going to lose a lot of faith in JE, and question his bottle. They're both obvious moves.
  23. They wanted 4, we wanted 10, 8 seems like a pretty reasonable result. Allowing him to play on was the issue. Just suspend whilst the final decision is made. Was never going to be less than the usual 3 games for a straight red, so why on earth not ban immediately. If they stay up by less than 3 pts I can see the other relegated teams being pretty angry.
  24. Yep, I know that Gally, he's an absolute beast. See report from just Feb this year: Blackburn ratings: Gallagher fantastic but midfield off pace Sam Gallagher - 8 Another proper workhorse performance. Ran the line brilliantly and poked past Woodman to put Rovers two ahead. Bullies the defence, makes great intelligent runs, good layoffs, bangs in a screamer. It's all very familiar. Problem is I also remember the other 160 matches well. 😉 Think there's a high chance you'll be back in New Year going - "Oh, this is what you lot were on about." But, as others have said, genuinely wish him well. Seems a good fella, and he always tries hard. Just trying often isn't enough. He's guaranteed to score against us, so I suppose you'll get the chance to crow that day.
  25. Mines available for any player that leaves one on Ben Wilson these last 15 mins. Perfect 10 score.
