  1. I know for a fact that some guys in one of the protest groups did a lot of research on this a few years ago. One actually spoke to a couple of Kentaro people, referenced on Suhail's profile. The research confirmed that Suhail Shaikh is a former Kentaro employee. One Kentaro employee described Suhail as a "Kentaro fixer.".Another ex Kentaro employee had placed a review on his Linkedin. Suhail's own profile said he was"responsible for the successful acquisition of BRFC by Venky's"" Remember that the football authorities "knew" Kentaro was running the club-against F.A. rules and turned a blind eye.. Now Suhail Shaikh has come out of the shadows. ..and we are to believe he is "no longer" employed by the Kentaro people...( even if their original named company is now conveniently extinct)
  2. Seen a few Rovers wins in The Sliding Rock in Shantalla and certainly drowned my sorrows after defeats in The Crane Bar....
  3. Best manager we have had, since the remorseful day, when bastard Venky's showed up imo. He is great man manager and an absolute master at setting up his teams. And, yes, I am worried about another club making him an irresistible offer...
  4. From memory, I think we had beaten them 5-0 at home with that wonderful Tony Field solo goal. I know the run of form contained a Bournemouth away win, followed by a 1-0 away win at Port Vale. Following the Vale win, there was a piece in one of the national papers, where Gordon Lee (still Vale at the time) was lavish in his praise for Tony Field. I was still at school for the 3-1 Watford away win, which you might be remembering... Within a few short months Field had been sold and Gordon Lee was Rovers manager.
  5. I'm getting that Ken Furphy echo... December 1973...What was it 4 or 5 wins on the trot.?....Then, in came Sheffield Utd...
  6. It ruined my kids' and my lives....
  7. Agree. Wrong to sack him. They should have backed him...but it was decided long before they showed up. Bastards!
  8. Let's be careful not to re-write history lol... The Big Sam era was far from easy on the eye. I felt he "fulfilled fixtures"/threw games to concentrate on beating the teams around us..and the hoof ball was bearable the first season he kept us up...After that, I know a lot got bored and stopped going as often as they did. The plan to sack Big Sam was made before the takeover. It was an agents' conspiracy. When he lost his job brutally, so soon after arrival of "the others", most of my friends were shocked. He certainly deserved a chance to manage with some cash behind him. So, in my opinion several things are true at the same time. The hoof ball( with little funding from the Walker Trust) was awful at times. Nevertheless, he was treated shamefully and we would not have been relegated, had he stayed. Sam's dismissal had nothing to do with Rovers fans. It was construed to get Steve Kean into the job.
  9. Not sure about that. I think he is well up there, but I do acknowledge that he stood out amongst a wedge of crap keepers under Venky's.
  10. I agree. If they do the usual bollocks in January, it will create an even bigger stink.
  11. I think he is the best manager we have had, since the takeover from Hell...
  12. You should be more grateful
  13. Or his comments about Eustace are carefully construed to manage the period for which he remains...
  14. At least we had him for 5 seasons before we sold him for a record fee... I was gutted when he left, but Williams and co were so much better at this than The Spiv and his cohorts... Most commentators agree that Wharton was sold on the cheap...
  15. I didn't quite buy it, when I read the piece.
  16. If/when this happens (again), what should be the reaction from the fanbase?
  17. Not sure about that... Financial "fair"play/parachute payments are a double barrier to competition imo...
  18. Weird what sticks in your head. Back in the mid 80's I went for a job interview in Macclesfield and one of the panel asked me what I knew about the town. The first thing that came into my head was that it was the birthplace of Alf Wood, former Shrewsbury Town striker! The old programmes were full of such details on opposition players...
  19. Ah, Boxing Day 1969...the start of the rot....
  20. Just bring him on after the game has finished to lead the celebrations...and, maybe, claim a goal, scored by someone else!
