  1. In my group, we loved Tony Field, Kit Napier and Johnny Price, whereas O'Mara was a misfit. A lot of Rovers fans had affection for Endean too, but he didn't light up a game like the other three. Even after all this time, I can feel the pain of Ken Furphy's departure and the negativity around Gordon Lee's introduction and the poor end to a promising season. A few short months later, Gordon Lee was a football God!
  2. Blimey, Kit Napier wasn't crap! Neither was Johnny Price.. I remember that Rochdale away game too. Tony Field did score and he had pre-planned his celebration in front of the away end, actually forming 100 with his fingers! That Rochdale win made it 5 wins in a row too. Promotion form..then....
  3. Waggott is gone and he did have contacts in the English game. Since Mowbray, we had JDT and Eustace under Waggott's watch. Before then, the awful ownership and various cronies gave us SK, Appleton, Berg, Bowyer, Lambert and Coyle. A pretty poor bunch, I am sure most will agree. Indeed, Mowbray was the only exception. After Ismael I shudder...
  4. My comment wasn't aimed at you. The fanbase is certainly divided and my experience is that for many on their different sides, their position is sensitive for them-almost a matter of identity. This is going on within my own friendship group. I think this requires leaders to tread very carefully with their language-especially in print-and even then, they will "offend" by accident.
  5. Absolutely. And it also shows that many fans on each side of the divide are sensitive about their own positions and quick to bite back.
  6. I see your point, but I think as many as possible should just get behind the idea...
  7. Oh, constructive dismissal by bullying/ marginalising?
  8. A crucial problem down these 15 years-the slow, attritional rate of the disease
  9. To adapt from Gilbert O'Sullivan.....We won't..
  10. Well, we knew all about his managerial record and we have to remember who hired him...( and their agenda)
  11. But the team had been on the slide before he came-8 defeats, 4 wins, 2 draws....14 points out of 38 is not play off form, is it. The players seemed shell-shocked after Eustace's departure ( and its pre-amble, which would have been visible to them) This was a season sabotaged by Suhail and Gestede...
  12. Right.I "remembered" him missing most of the season after Leeds! I am almost sure Tronstadt was missing for a good while though-maybe, just as Travis returned?
  13. Most of it... When VI arrived, the team had lost Lewis Baker, Ohashi and Beck ( from memory) plus Wharton and Carter. Then, the recruitment tossers had delivered absolute shite in the transfer window-Woodrowe, Dennis and Forshaw ( all of whom had hardly kicked a ball for months) and.... Kargbo. He has had very poor resources-well below Championship standard. I am not claiming VI is a brilliant manager, but Eustace left for a reason and that reason is clear.
  14. That was my reaction too...Their last 15 years includes a premiership title and a promotion!
  15. Yeah.. This level of denial and refusal to make connections after 15 years is beyond ordinary conversation. It won't be shifted by simple, logical argument. I think some supporters actually define themselves by their "undying support" of the club and their opposition to those making a stand against the ownership.
  16. Indeed. And if you shop in Poundshop, you're far more likely to pick up crap.
  17. Fair enough...The available players did show something..
  18. 12 Angry Men-the stand out member of the jury...lol But Gueye is shit all on his own...
