v Sheffield Utd (a) - 23/2/22 - Match Preview
doctorryan replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Forget promotion, we won't be within 10 points of the top 6 at the end, in fact we might be out of it by the end of the weekend. The moment it all turned was the missed penalty call & red early at Hull..........instant BAD VIBES. You could just see it that night: we were done. More years of semi-meaningless lower divisions football to come & no end in sight.........& get that goddamn devil head off our kits........f*cking Recoverite. -

I think most of this board would tell you to pound sand on that one Melly. Games like these are "must wins" if you're going to challenge for promotion, automatic or otherwise, and we just got outworked by a team that truly sucks. It was the epitome of bad vibes. -

You're missing the point.......the vibes are bad. This was our chance to set the pace & no one looked even remotely up for it; that's a bad sign. We need to win emphatically on Monday. -

You can just feel it, everything has turned. The BS with the primary kit sponsor....... Hull City playing games with their squad health to avoid us when we were red-hot........ ......then of course they have to have this "new owner bump" the night they're playing us......... .......in a match with a rookie ref completely out of his depth who was trying to compensate for what I believe is his only other match ever at this level, which was shite. So.................. ......he blows a penalty/strait red call........ .......& the guy who should be off keeps another goal out just a little after that. I feel like I did the night after the Derby away match in January of '98 (I watched the Steelers (IN PERSON) lose an AFC Championship Game a few hours later) . I really hope I'm wrong, but this feels like the beginning of that slide in '98. We'll be lucky just to make the playoffs. -
Starting with today's match at Hull City, 7 of the 9 matches to be played over the next 39 days will be televised by ESPN+ due to their selection for broadcast by Sky Sports in the UK. Be aware that the total cost per month of ESPN+ is only $6.99 plus applicable taxes in your state, so you've no excuse not to be paying attention. I'm not one to sing ESPN's praises, but this is too good to pass up, especially when compared to the cost & streaming quality of RoversTV.

I've always thought that when traveling to away matches supporters should all wear red/black anyway, unless it's an away ground where we can wear our traditional kit. Even in years the club hasn't made that choice, wearing those colors (colours) every time would send the not so subtle message that those are what we prefer, which seems to be the case amongst the supporter base by a considerable margin. -

AMEN. -
So an all brown kit sponsored by Scott's 1000 toilet paper would be copacetic with you?
-
Alright, that's it!!! First, we need somebody in East Lancs who knows how to silk screen to carve out 2 10Bet logos. (make sure they're perfect) Everybody who prefers the red/black halves buy one from Umbro. (You can get their generic blue/white too if for some reason you dislike this year's traditional (home) kit.) Now we'll need a good supply of embroidered club badges. (Does the club sell them in the store?) Someone will need to offer at cost to screen the 10Bet logo onto the kits (white onto red/black, RED onto blue/white) & affix the badges. (DO NOT TRY TO PROFIT FROM THIS; THE CLUB &/OR UMBRO WILL SUE.) Voila: The kits I believe most of us prefer exactly as we want them, complete with the current sponsor's logo in the color it should be. If enough of us keep doing this they will eventually capitulate; it's simple commercial math. It will take a concerted effort, but we can do this.
-
Point taken, but as Joe points out below, they lose considerable markup.
-
No, no, no......That would defeat the purpose. You buy the red/black halves & you keep wearing ONLY them at the away matches until they get the message.
-
If a bunch of us went out and bought this and applied Rovers badges to them and kept wearing them at away match after away match, season after season, then maybe they'd get the ****ing hint.
-
Add white shorts for Ewood & those are spot-on. Keep the blue for away matches where we can wear the traditional top.
