[Archived] And The Beeb Says We Want Beckham.....

Not sure, but he has Tugayesque qualities - great with the ball, good passing and dribling - and scores a lot of goals too. More attacking minded midfielder than Tugay, if I was to name a player with similar qualities (or the other way around, tbh) it would be someone from the same area I guess - he's what they call a 'cultured midfielder', with decent work ethics aswell. -

The best way to get from the airport to Central station is by train? Where is the airport, geographically? Are there offers like "week pass", "three day pass" or similar available, for both trams and trains? I guess it's just the airport-central station-airport + amsterdam-rotterdam-amsterdam I'll need them for though, so maybe single tickets are just as easy? Ticket in hand, I'm starting to look forward to this! Will be there from Wed morning, so I'm all up for beers - if we could find a decent place to meet up. Some suggestions on this thread already, since I'll be online from my hotel (allegedly they have internet connection) I'll check this thread later on. See you in Holland! -

Can't really help you, but isn't there still time to get them via mail? Anyway, I'm sure some of the members who live nearby Ewood can help you out. -

Don't see that, Aggy. His life is football (possibly also the two P's, Pie's and Pints) and he wouldn't just fake an injury to NOT play for Birmingham, especially given the injury record he has. That doesn't mean he can't work harder to keep himself fit though, and better training will prevent injuries.. -

No thanks, he's a disaster waiting to happen. Actually, he's a disaster happened. Bad attitude, poor advisors, not the kind of person we want. -

In all fairness, why would they announce it if the tickets were sold out anyway? OJ: I'm not sure whether the hotel is fully booked or not, but I'm staying at the Sofitel. Check out hotels.nl, there's a lot of possibilities there. -

Most of the people on here are season ticket holders at Ewood, and most of them are pretty clueless regarding transfer plans for Rovers? Well, except Pleasure of course. Let's hope Bellers show Riise his nightclub self then, if not to make the move back to Lancashire easier, then at least to teach that monkey a lesson.. -

"A win is a bird. We'll take a better looking one if we can, but if not - we'll take her home anyway." If anyone can find the Ian Holloway comments (mentioned on page 1, T4E), I would love to see them. As for the remarks, they're clearly way off and should never have been uttered. I hope he keeps his job, or at least gets a new one at a better club if the chairman still holds a grudge about those bung accusations. -

Fair enough, but we're not £4m short. I'd rather keep Todd around as backup than spend £4m on a third good defender. (pre-Ooijer I would've agreed though, Upson is a good player) edit: Sorry, fourth good defender - Zura's more than good enough! -

Don't really see why we should sign Upson, we already have a lot of central defenders. If we're in for a left back, sign a left back - not a central defender who has played there on a few occasions. -

I thought that was Tugay's job? -
We do, as much as we can anyway. We got money for Beattie and Danns - but we can't expect 50%. And; this demand is premature - you can't expect Hughes to get something out of the players in the academy yet. Souness did ok with Dunn, Duff, Tiny, Douglas, Gallagher, Danns (to some extent) for a while - it wasn't all his fault that they did not all succeed.

[Archived] Shabani Nonda Signs
herbergeehh replied to FourLaneBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Unless we get Nonda on the cheap (£1m or so) I wouldn't really advocate a move, but as mentioned dozens of times - the biggest problem is the service. He's showed some good movement and strength, but his goalscoring nowadays seems to come from inside the box first and foremost, and against United we had just two or three decent crosses in there. -
Interesting stuff, we'll have to go back to ugly football because Robbie Savage is missing The second player you're thinking about is Hæstad btw, FLB
