  1. I disagree completely, I think he's looked good the few times I've seen him. Certainly a lot better than our alternatives. It's interesting, some people cry for Dunn to come back, whilst some don't want Duff to come back??
  2. Good going, Matt, I wish I'd delayed the Ten album twelve years too - just makes it even better doesn't it? Re: Robert Plant - does anyone know what projects Jimmy Page has going on, or what projects post-LZ is worth downloading?
  3. Top ten albums 2006: Arctic Monkeys - Whatever people say I am that's what I'm not Danko Jones - Sleep is the enemy Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam Tom Waits - Orphans Bob Dylan - Modern Times Ricochets - Isolation Wolfmother - Wolfmother Tool - 10000 days Seigmen - Rockefeller Top 5 gigs: Pearl Jam, Sazka Arena - Prague The Raconteurs - Roskilde '06 Danko Jones, Rockefeller - Oslo Tool - Roskilde '06 The Cynics, Gamla - Oslo + Gogol Bordello at Roskilde: Gypsy punk played by totally insane people- great show. Disappointment of the year: Bob Dylan live at Roskilde festival Next year? New Turbonegro album Wolfmother live in Oslo Arctic Monkeys new album - can they cope with the hype? Radiohead concert somewhere, please.
  4. Duff never wanted to leave Boo-hoo, John Terry - "he said he wasn't like that at Blackburn, and he was at Blackburn for a long time". Amazing what a 70k salary can do..
  5. It has, and there's also a thread about it somewhere. Pro's and con's, making the big clubs buy more fourteen year olds and all that.. This wouldn't necessarily mean that the "home-grown" players are British, by the way..
  6. Just seen this thread, how much would a halfseason ticket cost for a young boy? edit: I would chip in to a paypal account, if someone would take the responsibility to find suitable children to donate tickets to. And suitable parents who are willing to let their kid reiceve the free tickets, I'm sure there's plenty of people too proud to do such a thing.
  7. Todd / Ooijer is a decent pairing, I'd actually choose Toddy over both Zura and Henchoz at the moment - we need another leader like him at the back.
  8. I guess I can relate to that, even from a distance. Obviously I have that feeling every time I go over to see Rovers, but also when I'll have to settle for a ###### stream with no sound on the internet. When in England, it's going out for a few pints pre-match, whilst in Norway - it's preparing for a night out.
  9. I don't understand that. I'm too young to remember the British football pre-Premiership, so bear with me - you say the 60s were more skillful, but with less pace and power? Obviously you'll have to take the cynicism, diving and for some teams - "defensive" tactics - out of the equation, but that sounds more like the Serie A or Primera nowadays. Which brings up a question for Fife, Bryan and other senior members: Have you watched a lot of Spanish or Italian football the last two-three years, and if yes - what did you make of it? I have to add though, I'm not talking about the catenaccio from the 80's, but the football at present.
  10. Yeah, or Ryan Nelsen. Or David Bentley. Or Zurab Khizanishvili. Jeez!
  11. Nostalgia is all well and good, but it's incomparable to today's football.
  12. I sincerely doubt Matt Derbyshire will be starting up front, he looked - at best - lightweight against Newcastle. I wouldn't mind though, because pace and work rate is sorely missed upfront. Anyway, we'll continue our good run in Europe with a 2-1 win. Now please send us somewhere sunny for the next round of the UEFA!
  13. Was thinking the exact same thing, mate. As I've said before, I thought we were hard done by with 2-0 down after 45 mins, and looking at the 2nd goal I do think it's offside. Originally I thought the ball was being hit back, but it looks like the ball is going more forward - and Taylor definitely looks further forward than any of our players as far as I can see.
  14. Okay, first things first. I thought we were very unlucky in the 1st half not to at least score one, whilst Newcastle had three chances and scored two. (IIRC) We were obviously guilty of terrible defending for both goals, neither of which were offside as far as I could see - and the overrated Martins had one of his on-days. I still think he'll disappoint over time, but today he was excellent! Second half - a lot better. Finally a goal from Gamst again, and what a goal it was. Let's hope he can build on from this, 'cause after his goal his overall game improved dramatically!! Mickey Gray - AWFUL, just awful! Milner skinned him time and time again, and this led to the second goal - luckily not more. Milner looks like a real prospect btw, I wasn't aware he was that good. The sending off was a bit strict, but after seeing it multiple times I can se how someone (more precisely mr.Gallagher) can justify his actions. Even though Henchoz managed to head the ball, it was still there for Martins to take into his stride, and Ooijer was too far away to stop him. Then Henchoz landed on Martins' feet whilst tugging his shirt, so fair enough - we've certainly seen worse decisions. Derbyshire: Glad to see someone with that much pace and good work ethic come through, but he'll need a few hours in the gym, he was brushed off way too easily. (also, a bit too eager to ask the ref for help) Good to see him get a shot though, it was a different choice by Sparky. I thought Savage had a terrible 1st half, mistimed tackles and lost the ball one several occasions - but he improved in the 2nd and helped us take control of the game again. All in all, a decent performance - the result is a bit flattering for Newcastle - but they put their chances away and we didn't: Simple as that!
  15. Isn't that quite a lot for a fine? Well deserved, obviously..
  16. See that's where it all begins.. Ask the followers of Italian football, and 90% of them will have Totti in their top 100. His goalscoring+assist record speaks for itself, the only thing he's missing is a REALLY good World Cup. Not to mention he's perhaps been the best player in the world the last month. But won't bother to start that debate again, hopefully he'll manage to show his qualities to those of you still not capable of seeing his brilliance. And I'm not talking about looks.
  17. Yeah, I really like him too. The "0" album is great, good voice and nice tunes if you're into the melancholy genre. He's coming to Oslo in February, so will try to catch his concert then.
  18. Nice preview, ihtd, even though I wouldn't use Martins in the same sentence as "next big thing". He's got great physical abilities, but lacks both the mental and finishing qualities to become an overall great striker. This might of course come with age, but I have my doubts - I certainly wouldn't pay the amount the Barcodes had to spend on him. But then again, I could say that about most of their transfers.. Don't know what to think about this match, three points would get us away from the bottom - but it depends whether our strikers are Benni and Nonda or Diawara and Ward for the weekend. And whether our "wingers" can create something similar to what they're capable of.. 2-1 Rovers Gamst Pedersen and Oh Yeah to score.
  19. No, it's not possible. Without trying to be the sourpuss here, it will always be subjective and always a matter of "50s vs 90s" and so on. To have Ronaldinho ahead of Roby Baggio.. or "forgetting" Francesco Totti for that matter. There's too many players, too many overnegative / overpositive views, to ever make such a list. That being said, feel free to continue the debate without me, I was just answering to the original question.
  20. He made one of the worst sub appearances I've seen for quite some time, so why he should deserve a starting spot up front is beyond me. Jeffers, however..
