[Archived] Rovers Foul All The Time - Ferguson
herbergeehh replied to jim mk2's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Made me laugh anyway. Not sure what to say about RFW's comments, looks like an easy way to take pressure off himself and his players. Who cares though, we've got three points, and hopefully our disciplinary record has improved (?) sufficient to get the media off our backs. We do make a lot of freekicks though, and we're probably in the top 5 for team cards? Either way, if we play like we've done the last month or so, we will get good media coverage! Bentley's third goal for instance, great linkup play - three touches from Gray's deep position to ball-in-net. -

Don't forget the silly, silly money Ferguson, Amoruso, Emerton and a few others probably got- Souness is famous for splashing out money to get his man after all. -

It Can Be Dunn Interesting little article, seems like Dunn is pleased with his teammates - certainly more pleased than he was when we were relegated. Still think he wants a relegation though, and a relegation release clause transfer to Blackburn next season. -

I agree, we don't need a lot of money to improve our squad - one striker will do at the moment actually. Our defence is solid, our goalkeeper is 4 out of 5 matches one of the best in the Prem, our midfield has a lot of quality (Tugay especially, and Savage/Reid/MGP chips in with hard work/athletism and occasional good runs/goals respectively) - whilst Bellamy is a quality forward. Long term; a quality replacement for Tugay and Friedel, and hopefully bring through Peter and a few more good players from the academy. We've got the most important part imo, a solid foundation - 7 or 8 good Premier League footballers who work well together! -

I think he means our next manager is dead. -

Pleased with the result, good team performance! Not too happy with the strikers, neither Kuqi or Dickov (how did he miss that??) did much to trouble Boumsong and Bramble, which was disappointing. Friedel did very well today, safe-hands is back! Neill was his usual self, best right back in the Prem imo. Nelsen and Zura did okay aswell, struggled a bit with the lively Chopra, but handled Shearer well. Poor passing though, Nelsen's distribution the last few matches hasn't been good. The midfield four played well together, especially the middle two. Tugay was brilliant again, and Reid really impressed out on the right. Hard-worker, a real athlete, and lovely passing aswell! As for Gamst, he scored.. again. Also I was very impressed with the workrate of young Sergio Peter, he really got stuck in and was a real help to Gray in defence. Unafraid of taking people on, good pace and trickery. Great prospect! -
Interesting dilemma; sue the newspaper and by doing that, ensure that all the details will come out. Not sue the newspaper; make himself vulnerable for more of the same. ("he won't sue us anyway, and it sells newspapers as hell"?)

I sense.... a Vinjay post coming.... Interesting article, let's hope he can get some funds in the summer. -
Glad to see him join Arsenal, and I hope we get to see him play soon. Stiff competition for the places upfront though. England place seems premature at best, let the boy play at least one match for his new club first?

[Archived] Pedersen Needs Converting!
herbergeehh replied to EIEIEIO's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Fair enough I tend to agree with most of your points tbh, but I think the problem lies elsewhere, e.g. on the right wing - and also the movement upfront. I would like to see Gamst Pedersen put in more crosses though, he tends to slip the ball back to Mickey Gray (who's always there, good man!) or try to make two on one-situations with one of the central players. (which often ends in losing possession) -
Nice little article that. See, Big Sam, that's what happens when you make poor Nakata act all Alan Smith'y. He can't tackle at all, he's a luxury player - don't make him go head to head against Savage again

I can't remember a single match where he's played upfront for Norway, he's a left midfielder and not a striker. Very good point! This is, imo, Gamst Pedersen's most valuable asset, (combined with the good finishing of course) and will not be as effective as a striker. I don't understand why MGP gets this criticism now, we all know he's not the Damien Duff kind of player. He can pass the ball well from his left midfield role, and can hold up the ball well. Not the typical winger? True. But it's a hell of a lot better than the Duff kind of winger on the opposite side, who beats his man once every match. -

herbergeehh replied to Modi's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Who knows what he's saying though.. don't think I will ever fully understand how players can use f*** (which is very easy to spot on the cameras) to referees and players as often as they do, and still make enough sense to avoid confrontation of some sort. (booking, fistfight, you name it!) Read somewhere on this board that Bellamy had supported Sergio Peter on his debut, so I guess people have different perceptions of the situation.. I guess he has that fighting face, which can make people think he's slagging his teammates off, but as long as we don't pick up his exact words, it's hard to tell whether he's constructive in his criticism or just plain mad. -
[Archived] Steven Reid Can't Shoot
herbergeehh replied to spencey7's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Poor shooting from Dickov yesterday though That goal he almost (?) scored in the 1st half would've been fantastic, made the Chelsea-bound ( ) Ben Haim look like a schoolboy, before blasting the ball around 10m outside the post. I think thenodrog sums it up in his earlier post, he tries too hard. 100% power no matter what, towards the goal. -
You confuse me.
-
You're like a broken record.. Kuqi did what he was brought on to do, flicking the long balls on.
-
Cheers, adopted scouser, I needed that
-
Tugay should've replaced Reid or Savage the minute Nakata was sent off imo. Mike Riley should've been replaced the minute he started giving Jaaskelainen freekicks on every goddamn corner kick. Man of the match, Andy Todd! Great game, solid defending. Nelsen was solid aswell, and Lucas had a good game as always. (terrible backpass with his chest in the 1st half though) Credit to Mickey Gray aswell, it's games like these that gives me confidence in never seeing Dom Matteo in a Rovers-shirt ever again. Always wanting to create something, good distribution, in Lucas and Gray we have two good, modern fullbacks! Don't think Reidy deserved the mom award tbh, I might be a bit biased though, after growing so sick and tired of those long shots of his. Bentley looked for some reason more comfortable on the right side of midfield this match..
-
Forgot about that.. But it's no point in leading 1-0 after fifteen minutes, if Bellamy can come on and put us infront the last twentyfive I'd be more than happy
-
ROVERS: Friedel, Neill, Todd ©, Nelsen, Gray, Emerton, Reid, Savage, Pedersen, Bentley, Dickov. Subs: Enckelman, Khizanishvili, Kuqi, Bellamy, Tugay. BOLTON: Jaaskelainen, Nolan ©, N'Gotty, Stelios, Gardner, Davies, Nakata, Borgetti, O'Brien, Ben Haim, Fadiga. Subs: Hunt, Campo, Walker, Vaz Te, Jansen. Link Jansen on the bench, and it looks like Hughes has gone for a physical approach, having Bellamy and Tugay as creative substitutes when Bolton's neanderthals tire. Good move by Sparky imo, we have a lot of options on the bench now!
-
If we were to lose this, I take the blame. Just put 100kr (£9 appr.) on a Rovers win, with Spuds getting a point, Reading to win and Pompey to get three points against Everton. At the moment, just the Pompey win and obviously Rovers missing, need three out of four. Never won money on Rovers winning a game, so why start now.. EDIT: Nevermind, that brat Kewell made it 1-0 to L'pool just now..

Will be interesting to see how he plays, if he's to challenge for the 16 next season- he should play well for QPR. -
[Archived] Jansen Rips Up Contract
herbergeehh replied to Wild Irish Rover's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Borgetti will leave this month probably, but their formation won't help him much. He's in need of good service and, up until now anyway, a striking partner to take some workload off him. But at least their to wingers can give him some opportunities, especially Stelios is a good player imo. Allardyce seems to like Vaz Te though, and Davies will always be his 1st choice..
