Scott Parker should have the quality needed for that holding role, I'd pick him over Carrick.
-
Go get him Hughesy, I'm sure we can find room for him in our coaching staff

No, that's not what I'm saying. Play him upfront with Bellamy, and play the ball to their feet. Not saying we should do it right now, since we're playing well with our current XI. But in the future, he can be a great player for us, "in the hole" like AiUK says, or just upfront in a free role. The problem with playing him in the hole behind the two is obviously our lack of a purely defensive midfielder. Savage runs too much in every direction, and Mokoena isn't good enough allround IMO. And Toogs.. not solid enough in his defensive game. -

Playing Bentley and Kuqi upfront doesn't strike me as very likely, Bentley is a passing player with good technique, he should play alongside Bellamy IMO. He doesn't have defensive and physical qualities like Kuqi, but he can be the key passer behind the striker (and ideally, the wingers). Also, lacking the height that Hughes demands?? He's taller than Dickov isn't he..? Physical presence can be vital in periods, but Bellamy and Bentley has got different qualities - which makes them an interesting partnership imo. He's certainly not a rightwinger, I thought he looked brilliant when coming on against Bolton. He came on as a leftwing didn't he? I'd like us to sign Bentley, he'll need some time but I'm sure he'll become a great player. -

Talk about finding the negative things amongst the positives, here's BBC's Blackburn stats: Failed to score in five of the last eight Pemiership matches. Gone 14 League matches since a score draw (1-1 at West Brom on 26 April). Players been shown more yellow cards than any other club in Premiership matches this term (26). Picked up more cards than any other club in Premiership matches (26 - three red, 23 yellow), but one of those red cards was later rescinded. Won three of five home Premiership matches this season -

Agree, Rev! Also, the one and only SHILITO15 linked to a rovers.co.uk article on page 17, which makes good reading for the worrying ones out there. For the record, I had the same thoughts aswell, as Bellamy was clearly unhappy with the service he was given at times, but I doubt that "he realised some of his teammates were journeymen at best".. Gamst Pedersen, Tugay, Savage and Emerton isn't too bad a midfield anyway -

Disagree, Hasta. He stopped, Cech made a move to the right and Bellamy cooly slotted it to the other side. Not that it matters though. -

Well to be fair, I'm sure it was Hughes who made those substitutions, even from the stands? Tugay looked surprised and disappointed himself, and I was tbh a bit disappointed by the choices made - e.g not playing Bentley when Tugay came off. Alongside Savage or Mokoena, i think Bentley could do a good job. -

Greggyk? Why does Neill deserve 4? Personally, I think Lucas (again) played well, one of few to actually link up a bit in attack - him and Emerton really is a good combination! Not saying he was spectacular, but would give him 7! As for the two chances you mention (Kuqi&Dickov) I think both of them was already blown for offside. (MGP on Kuqi's shot, Dickov on the other) Good game altogether, annoying to see Chelsea get the benefit of the doubt in every single 50/50 clashes. (even ex-Chelsea player Nigel Spackman thought so!) Oh, forgot to mention: Fair play to Riley, he did not give Micky Gray a yellow for his early tackle on SWP. Lost the plot 2nd half though.. -

Sure was. I checked their website and there they were! Just wondered, 'cause they looked kinda' homemade.. but Stone Island jackets it was! With burberry caps and some expensive-looking rings. Not making any assumptions...................... -

Well, you mention eight players, Joey, and four of ours. I'll give you Pennant, and to a certain extent Upson, Dunn, Heskey. Mikael Forssell isn't the same as he once were, Pandiani's overall game isn't good enough, Melchiot is no better than Lucas, and Izzet is too inconsistant if you ask me. Wouldn't trade him for Tugay, that's for sure. Don't think their team is that impressive tbh. I like Damien Johnson though, he's became a good midfielder methinks. -

Think you're a bit negative there, Rev. The first half wasn't too bad, the passing and especially the combinations between the wings and the full backs were good. Emerton, Tugay, Lucas, Bellamy: Hats off. When's the draw?? Just a bit off-topic; noticed quite a few people wearing some kind of armband or patch on their jackets.. black, with yellow rings/arrows or something on it. What is that about, anyone know? Oh, and have to mention comeback kid Toddy, solid defending alongside Zura today! Not sure the loss of the Admiral will have to be that big after seeing today's match.. -

Coming over for this one (and the Leeds match) - should really be a win! Would love it if Bellamy returns to start against Birmingham, but I guess he'll probably be rested some more..? 2-0 win, goals by Dickov and Nelsen. -

Who cares what signal that gives him, we have to think about what's best for the team, not one player. Kuqi did okay, by all means, but he can't do anything without support. And I have to say, I'm more pleased with Dickov's ability to hold up the ball than Kuqi up until now. Dickov played well last season as a lone striker, but I guess Kuqi was kept on to be a menace on corners and freekicks. Fair enough; I say bring on Birmingham - nothing to do now, except beating Liverpool at Ewood when spring comes! -

The question is whether Zura had much choice, he made a sliding tackle where (as the commentator placed it) "he could not control his momentum". He raised his foot a bit though, which maybe ended in Cissè being caught. Either way, it was a desperate tackle, but at least it was outside the box. The most annoying part of it is really that Halsey wanted a penalty, which is ridiculous. It just shows how poor his positioning was in that situation, which makes the sending off even more frustrating.. Bring on Silicon Valley FC! -

Liverpool horribly bad. What a game they produced.. with the exception of Xabi Alonso and Jamie Carragher, Liverpool was n o t h i n g! One freekick (when are we going to learn that you have to stop making them, and at least try to block the shot, not just run towards the ball?) was all they had. Liverpool going for 2nd place? You're having a laugh! Good defending today methinks, have to give credit to Savage for his endless running - even though he made the freekick eventually ending up in the net. Here's to having Bellamy back upfront against Brum!
