I started Hip-Hop Evolution on Netflix the other night. It's a documentary/reportage on the history of hip hop from its beginnings to the present day. I'm only on episode 3 but it's superb so far. @K-Hod, definitely one for you.

Looking at the Man U line up I agree with you. Pogba and Sancho playing. McTominay is going to be busy tonight covering for those two, plus Fernandes. Ronaldo sub too. -

Facebook reported its quarterly earnings this week. They noted that for the first time ever Facebook's daily user numbers dropped. It was slight but it occurred. As a result their share price dropped 25% yesterday and old Zuckerberg became $31bn poorer. Facebook shares drop - BBC They certainly aren't struggling but I hope that the trend continues. Facebook is an amazing story, and a hugely profitable business, but as far as I'm concerned it does more harm than good. -

There have been lots of strange goings on at Man U for years. Rangnick is just the latest iteration. Neither Martial or Lingard have been getting any playing time so I can see how if Rangnick asks them if they want a game they shrug and gave a sarcastic answer. I never rated Martial. He cost a fortune and rarely lived up to the fee. Lingard is a funny one. He was great for England in 2018 but has gone the way of Dele Alli. He was superb for West Ham 12 months ago. -

Thanks for that. I remember very little of the game. Mimms was in goal. A Rovers player was fouled in the build up to City's first, around the 35 second mark. Moran's foul for the pen was outside the box. Robbed by the ref's again. -

1 keeper, 5 central defenders, 1 winger, 2 central midfielders, and 2 strikers. How about this; Flowers Marker Hendry Moran Dobson Atkins Sherwood Andersson Wilcox Wegerle Newell I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of that back 4. Here's the season Wikipedia; BRFC 1992-93 Of those in the squad that played it looks like Ripley, May, Berg, Wright, and of course Shearer, were out. -

That was the game. 2-0 up and coasting. I've not looked up the match report yet but did Sherwood score? -
I'll put this here as we don't have a footballers on rape charges thread. How bad does that sound? Greenwood looks to be in a whole world of trouble. It's hard to to presume guilt before a trial but it's looking pretty damning for him. Another blot on his character is that Southgate kicked him out of the England squad last year. He and Foden broke Covid rules by bringing a couple of Icelandic girls back to their hotel. What does that say about the standing his girlfriend has with him? Benjamin Mendy is in deep water but is getting less attention. Can the Everton player who got arrested last summer be named? It's all gone quiet with him. As to Ched Evans, his conviction was overturned at trial; BBC - Ched Evans not guilty Not to be a moralist but he had a girlfriend (maybe fiance?) at the time and asked his mate if he could "join in" with him and another girl.

I watched Rovers lose 3-2 from the Kippax. 1992-93 season I think. I remember that Patrik Andersson played. I decided to tag along with a couple of my dad's mates. They had decided after a few beers the night before that they were going. They asked me. I went. We got to Maine Road, tickets only for away fans, no sale on the day. For some daft reason we decided to pay to go on the Kippax. An interesting afternoon. -

It's low risk though. Bruce is solid and unspectacular. He won't be a bad appointment yet he won't he be the next Guardiola either. -

That is an excellent succinct summary of post-Moyes Everton. They have signed some utter rubbish. Here's transfermarkt; Everton signings 2016-2017 is mightily impressive. Theo Walcott, over the hill Rooney, Mangala from City to name 3. 2019-2020 is up there too; Fabian Delph, Andre Gomes, Iwobi, Moise Kean in that venerable class. Chaddy (has he really done one from this site?) reckons that home town boy Rooney would have come in and fixed it all though. -

v Luton Town (a) - 29/1/22
speeeeeeedie replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Another clean sheet. Not losing at Luton isn't a bad result under the circumstances. Not many on here were confident of a win. QPR and Bournemouth winning makes today looks bad but they'll have hiccups too. Fulham drew, and West Brom lost again. Plenty of games to go. The most surprising aspect of today's game is that Cameron Jerome is still playing. What wasn't a surprise is that he still can't shoot. -
I agree with you, but clubs are a selfish lot and they aren't concerned with the greater good.

I agree with you that 7 & 8 years old is far too early to go to a pro club. I've told the tale of my young nephew who had to find a new team last September as the majority of his old team went to pro academies. None of them will be pro footballers, but parents are sold a dream by a smooth talking upstart in a fancy tracksuit. Clubs could also chip in to provide coaching courses so club sides have qualified staff. The argument from clubs is that how it is now works. England youth cup winners, a semi final and a final for the national team. Good players all over the place. Why change? However, would those players still thrive in a different environment? Each future star needs 10 other players to play with. Parents need to be aware that more often than not their kid is there to make up the numbers so that the one that the club thinks will make it gets a game.

I thought that he played for Rangers. Here's his Wiki; Shota Arveladze - Wikipedia. He scored loads of goals. I'm with you on his management skills though. It looks like they got rid of a better manager in McCann. Call me cynical but does anyone know if the fit and proper test actually exists? A Turkish gameshow mogul buying Hull City. It doesn't sound right at all. -
Premier League season 21/22

I read yesterday that the Premier League has instituted new rules for asking for games to be called off due to Covid. "From now on, if a club applies to postpone a match on the grounds of insufficient players due to COVID-19, they must have a minimum of FOUR positive cases within their squad." With omicron seemingly on its way out will it matter? The Prem also said that fans won't need Covid passes to go to games anymore. Has the EFL done the same? -

I agree with you. It's harder to compare game to game as well. With consistency comes fairness, and when everyone agrees on that it makes the job easier. I watch much more premier league than championship but VAR is causing the most angst there. However, I think that the Prem bigwigs need to alter the rule. A clear and obvious error needs to mean exactly that. 50 views, 5 minutes, then asking the ref to look at the monitor shows me that it's neither clear nor obvious. -

It was Darren England. He's on the "select group 1" ie. Prem list. He was streets ahead of the lad at Hull. Years ago a mate of mine played in an international youth tournament. It may have been UN sponsored or some organisation like that and somehow got a load of top referees' to do it. He played in one game reffed by Paul Durkin (short, ginger ex Prem ref). He said that he was brilliant. On top of everything, no wrong decisions, always up with play, constantly talking to explain what he was doing. There was another local ref (Andy?) who did football league games when I was growing up. I had him a few times an he was good too. -

Maybe they could be fast tracked due to experience? They should not struggle with fitness, they understand the nuances of the game, therefore with a bit of coaching they should be effective. Then they can report to other players what the experience is like. The other side is how many want to, or how many need to? Current Prem wages negate the need for a post football career from a financial standpoint (discounting stupid decisions), but I think that a lot of players would like it. It keeps them involved in the game, keeps them fit, don't have to move around, and unlike the coach/manager route are unlikely to get sacked after 18 months Consistency comes up a lot with refereeing. What is better; if a ref is consistent game to game, or within a single game? One week he can let teams kick 7 bells out of each other, the next they blow up more frequently. -
Oh dear, a late night for that ending. If Allen stays fit it looks like Buffalo will get its day in the sun at some point. I think that they shouldn't have booted the ball out of the end zone on the kick off. A rugby style donkey dropper landing in play would have wasted time. It's KC v. Bengals and LA v. San Francisco this weekend. KC should win, as should LA, but who knows.

Bad news for Burnley if you ask me. He'll get a tune out of the Watford players, and I'm sure a nice bonus if he keeps them up. As has been said on here often Woy came to Ewood at the wrong time. He is a good manager.
