  1. Genuinely despise this disingenous nonsense, even worse when it's spouted by the manager. "But it's true" - yeah, but stripped of all context. We went down with 51 points which was frankly ridiculous and would have seen us safe almost any other season. We didn't have to sell a single player. Instead we bought the best player in League 1 and added to the squad. As a result we romped the league despite not playing very well at any point during the campaign. So, since we got relegated 8 years ago we've spent one solitary season in League 1 - which was a blip caused by the stupidity of our owners hiring a useless manager and waiting until February to sack him. That aside we've finished between 7th - 15th every season, barring the chaotic 12/13 season. To talk us down like we're Luton or Wycombe trying to find our way is insulting. It's embarrassing enough to hear it from our own fans, let alone the manager. No wonder we don't have the mentality to beat the top teams when the manager himself regards us in such a lowly fashion. I can only repeat, we need a winner who understands and embraces what this club should be.
  2. Indeed, like the kind of comments you hear when a plucky underdog gives a top team a good game in one of the cups. "Improvement year on year" is a blatant lie and proves he has no idea what he's talking about, as a post in this very thread has shown.
  3. Majority of fans still back him and would probably back him at this point even if he relegated us again. "Got us out of League 1 once, so we have to give him the chance to do it again", etc. Owners don't care and likely get told what they want to hear from whoever is speaking to them at the time. Waggott will never even consider removing TM by his own volition. Only way he leaves if if he resigns, and we're nowhere near that. Another mid-table nothing finish this season - meanwhile contracts running out on various players and eventually TM will be pressured to start selling as the reintroduction of FFP looms next season.
  4. Of the top six teams last season Brentford had lost the most, with 13 defeats (but came 3rd, funnily enough). For most teams it was 11 or 12. Going to have to have one hell of a second half of the season to get anywhere now. The manager is under no obvious pressure though, with a mate as a boss and owners who effectively checked out eight years ago, so no reason to think Mowbray is going to change his ways. Great if you love the Championship, as it guarantees us being here for a while to come. Not so great if as a fan you have any serious ambition for our club.
  5. I had given up on promotion after we were beaten by a poor Bristol City team (who got beaten 2-0 and dominated by Rotherham today, btw). Even with Dack and Trav back it's just going to be another inevitable march towards mid-table, with the usual winning streaks and losing streaks that have become so common during Mowbray's time here. We desperately need a winner in the dugout who understands the importance of defending in the modern game. As a defender you'd think TM would get that, but his managerial career proves without a shadow of a doubt he does not understand it and has no intention of learning that lesson.
  6. If the team is good enough then most of the time they'll do enough in the match to make bad luck mostly meaningless or a minor setback. Against the better teams this season we simply aren't doing enough, so every piece of 'bad luck' is a killer blow.
  7. Good teams make their own luck, poor teams bemoan theirs.
  8. Rotherham 2-0 Bristol City... ffs.
  9. Assume we can't send Douglas back in January? I'd terminate his loan immediately if possible. Not the right person for what we require in that position. The fact Bell looks more capable says it all.
  10. A manager with the ability to build from the back could have this squad challenging for the top six, I'm sure of that. Mowbray has never been and will never be that man. That's why with him at the helm we'll be stuck in mid-table forever. Eventually the incremental gains will cease, and much like GB it will get stale and begin regressing at a similar pace.
  11. He had quite a few injuries before coming here, and unfortunately at his age they take a toll. He's never been quick anyway, so god knows what our recruitment department were thinking beyond 'omg we need a left back anyone will do'. It makes no sense to have brought him in at all if our current formation was always the plan for this season.
  12. Same as before, it's in the bottom right hand corner. You just can't see it. If you hover over the area with the mouse cursor or tap the area with your finger on a phone it should appear.
  13. The new Medal of Honor VR game dropped. 170GB to install and will only run well on a dedicated SSD and a PC with the very latest and best CPU & GPU. They appear to have gone into the project with the aim of selling as few copies as possible. Let's create a game for a niche market and then only let people in an even more niche market actually be able to play it. Good job EA. Oh, and also the game sucks, so that doesn't help either.
  14. Considering the insane backlog of games I have it might be 2077 before I get around to playing this anyway. Hopefully patched by then.
  15. Arma can be selfish but last night was way over the top. He was playing like his life literally depended on him netting. Very strange.
  16. Being a Spaniard I didn't expect Ayala to be quite so clumsy on the ball, but I guess that's why he's spent his career at this level. Overall the talent of our defenders isn't necessarily the problem - more their collective injury-proneness which means we can never have a solid back four playing together for multiple games.
  17. Everyone thought he was mis-speaking, but maybe he was just a low-key comedy genius. Always got a laugh out of me, anyway.
  18. Yeah, that was indeed the reference.
  19. Above us in the table ✔️ Three points gets us into a playoff place ❌ 50% chance of winning.
  20. I'm feeling very downbeat after last night's result. I felt like the matches against Brentford and Bristol City were genuine chances to prove we've turned a corner - to show something really has changed from previous seasons. 1 point from those two games is just so disappointing. Having the best attacking stats in the league doesn't mean much to me if we're 10th and can't win against anybody in the top half. I'd much rather have the best defensive record in the league, and I'm sure we'd be a lot higher in the table if we did.
  21. He's 26 next month so he's pretty much at his peak now. I don't think he'll be getting significantly better than he is now anyway. I think it feels like he's younger because of how TM has treated and spoken about him.
  22. We're always 'x' amount of points away from the playoffs. There's an old saying in Tennessee that says, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice — you can't get fooled again.
  23. He is far too slow to play in our system. There were a couple of times tonight when he ended up trying to whip a ball into the box far too early because he has zero pace to try and run past opposition players. To use an old phrase, it looks like he's running in quicksand. He would have fit in better in our old system, but I don't think we're going back to that.
  24. I think Williams himself has said he doesn't want to play at left back anymore. In theory Mowbray could order him to play there, but he won't. I don't think Williams is much if any better at LB than Douglas or Bell anyway.
  25. Williams looked rusty, which I suppose was to be expected, and Ayala is not the upgrade I thought he'd be. Seems pretty average, but still OK for a free transfer. Arma was shocking tonight but we just couldn't break through their defence. It was one of those games where we needed to win another way - via something like a set piece, but as we've only scored from two set pieces all season that is a huge weakness that hurts us when we come up against teams we can't pass through.
