It's going to be a strange end to the season as far as relegation is concerned. Hull effectively gone with their GD in mind - Wigan now have to beat Fulham on Wednesday or the -12 point deduction will send them down.
-
It wouldn't have been like this, for sure. Likely a drab 0-0 with Reading more likely to nick one than us.
-
Brereton, Rothwell and Gallagher all on the scoresheet. A rare day indeed. As it stands Hull are on the brink of going down with their GD taken into account.
-
Looking like Millwall's playoff aspirations are finished. As it stands it'll be between Cardiff and Swansea for 6th on the final day. Forest's GD means they should be involved regardless.
-
Looking forward to more of the same next season.
-
According to the BBC they've had two shots on target and both have gone in.
-
Yep, the talent is there but the mentality is not. We are in desperate need of some winners to drag these boys along when the pressure gets tough, and no matter what Tony thinks Bennett isn't one of the men for that job.
-
Brentford and WBA both tripping over their own feet as they get towards the finish line.

EB on Twitter:

Nyambe has his flaws but the one thing you can never accuse him of is a lack of effort. The lad busts a gut up and down the flank throughout every match.
-
Even if Bennett was a capable impact sub for a game's final stages, do we want players in the squad who are only useful in small bursts and can't be relied upon to play a full match without disadvantaging the team? Probably not. Bennett's versatility is, from my perspective, a myth. He has been played in numerous positions but how many of them does he look decent in? Any player could be deemed "versatile" if they were played all over the pitch regardless of performance.
-
Switching Bennett to right back has been one of Mowbray's worst decisions and left us exposed countless times over the past few years. At best Bennett is a midfield harrier to come on for the last 10-15 minutes of a game to inject some energy and disrupt play. That's it. I doubt he's on a wage reflecting that kind of squad status though so he really does need to move on.
-
Completely agree, and I think this summer could be to Mowbray what the summer of 2015 was to Bowyer. Better players leaving, replacements not on the same level, tactics not good enough to compensate - all resulting in a sharp and painful regression. I really do hope I'm wrong on that, but even if Tony does get a decent budget I can only see us treading water for another season unfortunately, and at some point the above will come to pass. We will have to start selling at some point, presumably, to keep ourselves in line with FFP.

Baffling quotes. He's talking like Bennett is Roy Keane or Patrick Viera, pulling the lads up when things aren't going well and taking games by the scruff of the neck. Considering how little we ever come from behind to win (wasn't Cardiff the first time in the Championship we've done that since 2015?) and how Bennett is a total clutz that none of his team mates can rely on I find these comments completely ridiculous. Might as well bring back Robbie Savage if we need a 'character' in the team - would probably still be better than EB at this point.

On one hand you have to (very begrudgingly) say well done to Paul Cook as they looked destined for the drop a few months ago - he's done well to reverse that. On the other hand it shows how incredibly average the division is this season and how finishing mid-table in it is not really progress,
-
I have some morbid curiosity about the line-up but that's about it. If Samuel starts again I expect a new contract is imminent for him.
-
I think Hull are stuffed, and will likely finish 23rd or even bottom. It's looking like a fight between Barnsley, Luton, Charlton and Huddersfield at this point. Birmingham in shocking form as well at the moment but probably just about have enough to limp over the line.
-
Exactly.
-
That admission doesn't reflect well on him regardless of how it's spun. Either the players were playing to his instruction and it was useless, or they weren't which meant they paid no attention to his instructions - and he was also completely unable to change it for 45 minutes.
-
Pathetic performance. The manager's selections and tactics tonight were an absolute joke. I really don't want to see any more of this 'progress'. I've had enough of these no-show performances and nonsense decisions. How many games this season have we played well for the entire match? It's always one bad half one good half, or more often one bad half and one average half. It's been the same since League 1. I'm just done with it, and done with Mowbray.
-
It's a woeful division.
-
Ah, but they were clearly brought in to play as wingers - because as far as our manager is concerned every striker is better off playing out wide, even if they have none of the attributes to do so effectively.
-
Where is Gallagher playing if Rothwell is wide right and Downing is false 9 ?
-
Might as well prepare for it now...

One week later Rovers are delighted to announce contract extensions for Danny Graham and Dominic Samuel.
