Gueye is being treated like a pariah because he baulked at moving in the summer, and the club wanted him off the payroll. He's being made to feel unwanted because we want to sell him, simple as that. The team and our results are a far lower priority than saving money and selling players, as we already know.
-
Hyam no doubt thinking thank fuck I got out of there.
-
I'd argue it's more tragic that we've been reduced to seeing a 0-0 draw at Middlesbrough as some kind of heroic achievement.
-
I mean, did we expect anything more from a team that didn't look any better than Sheffield Wednesday? A joke of a squad and a joke of a manager - led by the biggest jokers of the lot, our boardroom and owners. And at this point, frankly, it's a cruel joke on anybody paying money to watch this lot. You'd be better off flushing your cash down the toilet. Your time would be better spent watching paint dry.

He is utterly atrocious. Far below the standard required. Granted he isn't the only one, but my word, he should not be playing at this level in any capacity.

Think they know Tyjon is off and are refusing to play him on that basis. There's no way he doesn't at least get on the bench otherwise, considering our subs consist primarily of left backs and left wingers. -
I think our fate will largely be decided by our January business (I don't exactly have high hopes here) and our injury situation for the second half of the campaign. If we get lucky with injuries/suspensions we probably have just about enough to survive this season. We're very fortunate that Wednesday have already taken one relegation spot. If I had to guess, I'd say it's going to come down to us, Portsmouth and Oxford. Charlton definitely a possibility as well, but if they get their early season form back then they'll be OK. I don't expect any of these teams, including us, will have a great deal to spend in January to strengthen. I'm not entirely sure on Norwich's situation, but Clement presumably wouldn't have been a cheap hire, so I assume they have some money set aside to try and improve the team. If you look at their form before and after Clement arrived there is noticeable improvement, but he did start from practically rock bottom. Managerial changes could also have a big impact. Val is safe as houses, so no point debating that. Mousinho I'd expect to be on solid ground as well with credit in the bank, but then, I didn't expect Oxford to sack Rowett. Not sure on Nathan Jones' situation - their form really is dire lately, but one assumes he will also have credit in the bank from last season's promotion. Oxford will be limited on who they can realistically bring in, and it's hard to imagine them bringing in somebody who can keep them up. Who knows though. They got Rowett in last season and managed it, so lightning may strike twice.

Bloody hell lads, just take the hit. How much can they realistically be talking about here? Would it even be £10k?

The January 2026 Transfer Window

Players like Morishita, Cantwell and Alebiosu have the ability to create chances - maybe Baradji as well, hard to say at the moment. We need more than just Gudjohnsen to finish chances though, so yeah, striker has to be the priority. We're going to be bare bones regardless as we realistically aren't going to be able to bring in enough quality to solve the squad depth issue, so all we can do is focus on the immediate issue up top and hope that our regular starters can stay fit for enough games to see us through. -

Yes. Their other clean sheets were away to WBA & Portsmouth. -
Looking increasingly like it's going to be between us, Portsmouth, Oxford, Charlton and Norwich for the final two relegation spots. Charlton are on a horror run of form at the moment, they were looking pretty decent up until a couple of months ago, but they have fallen apart lately. Portsmouth are struggling but they have beaten both us and now Charlton recently, and if you're beating the teams in and around you, then that gives you half a chance. They'll be down there until the end, but they've got fight. Clement has dragged Norwich out of their death spiral, but they're still dropping a lot of points. A big January for them - invest a bit of money and I expect they'll claw their way out of it. Fail to do so and it'll be a nervy ride for them until May. Oxford will have to make a very, very good hire to stay up. Curious to see who ends up there. They won't have much to spend in January, so they'll need to get in someone who can work with what he's got. Very difficult task. Our biggest concern, by far, is that we can't beat any of the teams in and around us. None of them. Unless a miracle happens and we spend well and wisely in January, we're going to be in for a tough few months. We really have to pray that when key players like Gudjohnsen and Morishita come back that they stay fit - and that Alebiosu also remains injury-free when he returns from international duty. Exciting times, right Rudy?

Wednesday have drawn 8 of their 23 games, so it's more an overall indictment on the quality of the division than us individually. With that said, Wednesday have conceded 45 goals this season. We're one of only three teams not to score against them (the others being WBA and Portsmouth, the latter of whom hold the embarrassing distinction of being the only team to lose to them, at home as well. We lost to Portsmouth). As I mentioned earlier though, just look at our team. It's a truly sad state of affairs. Yes we have injuries, but our bench alone shows how utterly starved of investment this squad is. Our owners should hang their heads in shame, but I doubt they care enough about us to have any. -

The opposite of the old saying that a match is 'an advert for the beautiful game'. This was simply an advert for how owners can absolutely wreck football clubs. Awful. -

Not surprising though, I mean look at our team out there tonight, really look at it... then look at the bench. Venky's have absolutely destroyed us. We're doing well to be outside the bottom three. -

Ohashi needs a proper striker up there with him. He's good support but we can't rely on him as a regular goalscorer in the same way we can Gudjohnsen. As you say, he just doesn't have that instinct. It's not a knock on Ohashi necessarily as he's decent in many other areas, and would be a solid player in a team that had enough depth to give him better players to work alongside when Andri is unavailable. -

TGH is on the bench, we should have just started him and brought Baradji on later if he's still not in condition to play from the start. Better bringing him on when the opposition are tired, you'd think. -

Chansiri destroyed their team in the summer. They're regularly fielding youngsters these days - hence the one win all season. -

If it's anything to do with the boycott then it is pure idiocy, as the vast majority of those still buying tickets won't boycott anyway. If anything this would drive more people to do so out of feeling disrespected. -

Unleaded has never been a regular poster to begin with in fairness, he usually only pops up around the transfer window periods. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
DE. replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's interesting because you could see that as bailing them out - but if that was the purpose wouldn't you suggest it in private, rather than broadcasting such a strange compromise publicly? To me that came across more as Ismael highlighting how dysfunctional and financially restricted things are without outright saying so. I don't think he'll ever outright criticise them, but comments like "take money out of the transfer budget to sort the pitch out", after essentially calling it ridiculous that our pitch is sub-standard, don't seem like bailing out as much as putting a glaring spotlight on those in charge. -

It's worse in a way because we can afford all of those things - the owners/Suhail are just actively choosing not to adequately fund any of these areas. -
People call it a two team league because, by and large, only two teams ever win it. You have to go back to 1985, 40 years ago, to find another winner. Celtic have won 13 of the last 14 titles, so it's more like a one team league these days. Of course there are other teams there, but the suggestion is that they are mainly there to make up the numbers, which is difficult to argue. That's not to say the other teams don't have value - of course they do. It's just not very exciting for an outsider when you know the same team is pretty much always going to take the title. Fans of the other teams can have hope of their club getting into Europe, or avoiding relegation against the odds, or winning one of the domestic cups, so for those invested in an SPL team it's not a total loss. It's just a shame the odds are so heavily stacked in one team's favour (two technically, but again, 13/14 of the last league titles have gone to Celtic). Another team challenging at the top is great to see. Even if Hearts don't get there this year, I hope they can build on this base and become a genuine threat in future years. It can only be a positive for the competition as a whole.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
DE. replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Val has his limitations but he's doing alright with what's available to him. It obviously helps that the division is such a shitshow this season. Some of his recent comments have been very interesting reading between the lines. He himself identified the fans' discontent goes back many years, which combined with the comment about this being the most difficult challenge of his career and the club being run in an unusual way, was certainly him indirectly pointing the finger in Suhail and Venky's direction. Perhaps subtly enough that they wouldn't pick up on it, or at least he'd have plausible deniability. Self-preservation, for sure, but not the actions of a total yes man.
