  1. You could ring Rovers for a ticket when they are on sale using a credit card? They will go on sale to season ticket holders first, then general sale. Details will be on the website nearer the time.

    2,500 Of You

This one is a regular at away games now. First heard it away at Luton last year, now I know where it came from!
  3. I spotted on MOTD that the away end now has a roof Whilst at Fratton Park a few years ago I asked a steward why the stand was uncovered, he informed me that it was due to residents who lived in the houses directly behind the stand objecting on the grounds that a roof would obstruct the sun/daylight. Wonder how they eventually got round that one then!
  4. Absolutely Cletus, infact i'm sure 'There's only one Jack Walker' will be heard at Ewood on Sunday.
  5. It was shortly after we played Sheff. Wed when they brought their band for the first time... I seem to remember Rovers fans joining in with them when we were stuffin em' coz they never shut up throughout the game.
  6. But is it the majority view? If you are basing it off the poll & comments on this messageboard then that is a very small number indeed compared to the regular 14-15,000 Rovers fans who are on the ground. According to the stats there are just short of 2,500 members registered on here, half of which probably do not post anyway. The best thing would be (if people want it to happen) to send out a questionnaire type thing with the season tickets (or seperately) and see what the response is. It could also include other general issues on matchday.
  7. I think the main guy (Billy) is OK, it's just, like you say, the kids who have decided to join the bandwagon who may have made it unpleasant for most people.
  8. I agree with you, one drummer is sufficient and yes this has been a regular discussion on here... maybe the one drummer could sit next to you? Do you remember when there was a drummer at each end of the ground? well I was sat in the middle of the riverside and because of the time it takes for sound to travel they were so out of time with each other (from my position in the ground) it was unbelievable!
  9. The drums have never been a problem for me personally, i've always thought they were good for the atmosphere HOWEVER those plastic bloody horns...god no! I had 2 kids behind me with one EACH for a game last season and they sound bloody awful... they are a cheap replacement for the good old fashioned air horn, which in moderation I don't mind!
  10. Yes good idea. Maybe a pinned thread on this section?
  11. We don't really have many different songs... most of them are claps followed by 'Rovers' or a player's name. Failing that something aimed at the opposition or Bumley... There is also that one with a bit of a tune (usually sang after a goal) but that's unimagenative as the wording is simply 'der, der der der... etc maybe if words were put in to it... As for the drummers, they tend to start these chants. Very rarely do I hear them joining in with one that was started elsewhere in the BBE or other part of the ground. The atmosphere from Rovers fans is always much better away from home with or without the drummers, much of the time it is poor at home and getting rid of the drummers will only make it worse I think.. BRING BACK TERRACING! I see on here that they are quite unpopular but when the guy starts banging most people tend to join in... I think therefore that in general they may be liked... a poll that involved every Rovers supporter, not just the minority on here would give a more true picture.
  12. For sale due to lack of space There are around 150 (i can count them if req) in good condition. Any offers? Ben.
  13. Thanks brfc fan. but how did you know that?
  14. Am I right in thinking there are more verses in the Rovers version of 'Wild Rover'? Seem to remember hearing them in an away game a few years ago.
  15. I Was only about 9 or 10 at the time but I remember when we were 2-0 up it absolutely poured down with rain, we were on row 4 of the riverside as I still am now and my Dad (r.i.p) shouted something along the lines of 'ya can pee on me now for all i care' (he used to moan about getting wet usually!!). The day after there was a poster of Shearer scoring in one of the Sunday papers and I remember him posting it though the door of one of his mates who was a Utd fan! Of course I remember the game it'self and the boo's when the Utd team was read out were deafening!
  16. This one lives long in the memory, it was a very strange day... my brother, cousin and myself travelled down in the car for this one... We arrived late for the game... heavy traffic on the M1 then drove round in circles trying to find Loftus Road. I decided to go into a pub for directions and saw Cole score the first goal on a big screen. In the end we abandoned the car and got a taxi eventually arriving at the ground 10mins before half time. Once in the ground after waiting for someone to let us in I had the then other half giving me grief on the phone for going all the way to london instead of going to see her. The phone was then promptly switched off at half time and we enjoyed the 2nd half. After the final whistle we lost my young brother outside the ground and didnt find him for about half an hour! The joys of being a football fan eh?!
  17. I seem to remember when MGP signed that he was hoping Rovers were a stepping stone to better things.
  18. I wouldn't want the Riverside to be replaced, as mentioned earlier in this thread it is a sign of where we came from. I agree totally though that the camera's should operate from there facing the 3 larger, newer stands, it would definately give a better image of the club. Maybe they won't because the sun would be facing the camera's which would affect the picture??
  19. I hope to god on Thursday we don't have the embarassment of having a lower crowd that season tickets sold despite the game being free for us. Everyone was talking 'EUROPE EUROPE EUROPE' last season but yet again I don't see anything else but a reduced attendance, i'm sorry to say. The support out in Austria was fantastic, lets hope that it can be carried on to the home leg. We all want to qualify for Europe then when it happens nobody turns up! Let's hope it is different this time with S/T holders getting in free and the reduced price of £15.00 for everyone else!
  20. I was quite suprised when they said you could smoke in the enclosed bar area but not in the open air seats. wrong way round maybe? smoke congregates in enclosed spaces but disperse in open air. Saying that though, the amount of people i saw smoking in their seat during the match makes me think that this ban is going to be harder to enforce than Rovers first thought.
  21. Correct. A lot of people seem to join in with him when he starts, so the people in support of the drummer(s) don't seem to be speaking up. I personally don't mind but know others that do. As mentioned earlier in this thread, the best way would be to do some sort of petition at Ewood and the results would speak for themselves. Obviously there are other messageboards and supporters clubs who may or may not be in total support of the drums. The only other solution would be if the club allocated every rovers member a ballot paper with a 'KEEP' or 'GET RID' option! but i think that may be taking things a little to far!
  22. According to the ticket page, the Blackburn End is now called 'Walkersteel Blackburn End' A lot of people still call the CIS Stand Walkersteel so that might cause a bit of confusion!
