  1. Maybe in the UK Tyrone but in some parts of the world Tattoos have been in culture for hundreds if not thousands of years! A friend of mine had the old-style tattoo in Chang Mai, known as "hand-poked", which is performed with bamboo. The bloke who did it had been tattooing his whole life, his father before him and his father before him. They only did traditional tattoos but it was an art passed down generations. Culture shifts and changes. In European culture, particularly Scandanavia, people were having tattoos as far back as the early 200s! Same with Germanic culture, Gaelic culture etc. It was only really the "prune ages" (as I call them) when people decided to become very judgemental on their neighbour did such prejudices come to form. You know, the same era that used to see sex before marriage as a sin, or childbirth outside of marriage as a reason to throw a woman into a mental asylum - that generation. Fortunately I think we have seen past it now. I think tattoos are here to stay. For good reason as well.
  2. He was. Doesn't mean he is as good as people are making out. Frankly I wouldn't want him.
  3. People need to chill out about Balcombe. He made a decent double save but other than that his kicking was awful and he had nothing else to do. Other teams' players will always look good when you play as awful as we did
  4. It is the blatant lack of desire that is starting to wind me up. If we don’t make play offs this year he simply has to go. The only problem being that we are also in a poor state of affairs in terms of playing staff after this season. It could be a very rough summer. He has had his chances. You can’t defend the indefensible and simply put he’s getting it wrong far too many times.
  5. A real Football Manager loss - enormous amount of chances but not much of substance. What is more likely with our board is an under reaction. The premier league are playing their kids in this cup this year, it’s a real chance for some success. It was more of a surrender than it was a competitive performance. Fuming isn’t even the word. There is always the danger of overreacting after them types of losses but our board won’t react at all. Mowbray is here for the long haul. He doesn’t care. He’s just once again surrendered our chances of silverware because he is trying to be something he isn’t. Why were there nearly more players out of position at the end than there was playing in their natural positions? Fucking play your players where they became pros at - stop trying to be smart and doing things out of the ordinary. Just play the damn game of football. Done with it for this weekend. Don’t want to see another football until the next game. Mowbray is driving me crazy.
  6. This Doncaster side are fucking terrible as well. Worst team I have seen at Ewood in a couple of years. Embarrassing. Team selection baffling and the subs were even worse.
  7. Disgusting performance so far. Mowbrays subs have killed the game.
  8. I am just hoping Ben "Twenty Men" Whiteman doesn't play or we could get beat 6 nowt.
  9. Would have been a massive season for Wharton this. What a crying shame we are now looking at Everton's kids when we have him.
  10. In fairness practically every Christmas message from the clubs thanks the manager, if not all
  11. Yeah, they probably did. The point remains that the views of this board are rarely reflected in the views of the general fan base. See the Facebook Rovers page for a better understanding. Or Twitter. Mowbray is only under “pressure” from some on here - of which some have not been happy with a manager since the day I joined. It’s just an observation.
  12. It is just that usually the fans that would be more inclined to be critical are the ones that seek a place like this to vent. Im not in anyway saying we are a bunch of drama queens or anything...................
  13. I don’t think he is in truth Id say the opinion, even on here, is about 70/30 which outside of this board would probably make it around 50/50. It is not uncommon for BRFCS posters to be calling for the sacking of a manager.
  14. We haven’t performed well for 5 or 6 games now. The system hasn’t changed from the start, neither has the players really, but they aren’t delivering like they were. We could argue the semantics about why they aren’t til the cows come home but maybe it is the simple fact that they are not good enough. We need a serious defensive mid in this 4-3-3 system and BJ / Trybull aren’t good enough to do it. Not only that but we need another Elliott on the opposite wing because Gallagher just isn’t performing. We are a few players off, but that’s nothing new. I have still not lost the faith and still think we can get play offs this year. Travis will be massive for us.
  15. Rothwell and Nyambe now please
  16. His career has been 'resurrected' following the previous jobs he has had. I do think that failure to reach play offs / promotion with this squad will constitute a big failure though. This season could undo all of that hard work.
  17. An echo chamber. You either do and think as we tell you to, or you get back in the bath with your sister. Either way, you will be bathing with your sister tonight.
  18. He's had a few pants down with that post. No one in their right mind can repeat that tripe without being on the wind up. T'ra nutty, you weird dingle
  19. If Wharton didn't get injured then we would have two right footed centre halves and two left footed centre halves this season. Lenihan, Ayala, Wharton and Williams. I don't think that is a bad choice actually but we have just been unfortunate with injuries.
  20. What makes you say Tony hasn't cut the mustard? He has turned the good ship HMS Blackburn Rovers a full 180. I still think we will get in the play offs this season. Our squad value is substantially more than it was when he came; our scouting department has had an overhaul; the players we have now are not chancers. I have my problems with Mowbray. There will always be something about a manager that you don't like. I just don't see the overwhelming evidence that he is bad for the club that others are clearly seeing judging by the vitriol on here. The comparison with Coyle is over dramatic. Mowbray is nothing like him and has shown integrity throughout his career.
  21. It happened when they sacked the groundsman back in the 'dark days'. Didn't he end up at PSG too? Or at least looking after the Stad de France? At the end of the day the ground and the pitch are reflective of the ownership. Not bothered, half a job, sticking plasters over big cracks and hoping one day the promised land will save us from having to dig into pockets. Why own a football club? You knew what you was buying. It is a huge overhead that you signed up for - have the bollocks and live up to your responsibilities.
  22. It is mad how everybody believes the high wage "guesses" but as soon as phillipl takes a stab at a lower wage proof is demanded. Theories about him being on circa 15k a week go unchallenged; theories about him being on circa 5k a week demand a scanned in PAYE slip and a bibliography of sources. Nonsense talk.
  23. Still only scoring 17% of the time the shots are on target though. I'll be honest and say the stats surprise me, but within that the goals vs Wycombe etc are included. I still think he shoots far too often, especially when a pass is available, but at least the stats do show that he is taking far more shots this year than last and I am not just imagining this overnight change in his game. I wonder whether it is down to instruction or a desire to be the top scorer at all costs.
  24. You can be involved in 40 goals a season as a striker or be involved in 25, all of which you scored. I know which one I'd rather be attributed to. Bobby Firminio isn't prolific but is involved in a lot of Liverpools goals. A striker does have to be selfish but he also needs to balance the requirements of the team. There were a couple of times yesterday when he could have recycled possession but instead he shot and we gave the ball back to them, along with a 1 minute delay whilst the keeper fetched the ball. We won't talk about the Bristol City game and put that down to a bad day at the office
