  1. He also needs to watch himself as he’s committed a few fouls on top of that one. Can see him getting hooked soon.
  2. It was a nailed-on yellow card mate, Travis was caught sleeping and the tackle was late and nasty.
  3. I can understand why you've done this, but playing devils advocate a couple of folk (me included) have mentioned the booing of Shearer as a 'cringy' moment. If someone posted that they disagreed with this, and gave their reasons, would you also hide all those replies?

  9. Paul Ince and Jim Iley weren't great either. I agree with you on the omission of Saxton, Lee and Furphy - all very good managers. Saxton in particular worked miracles at Ewood. Back to the original post, much as I enjoyed the first 3 years of Don Mackay's reign, I would always have Dalglish, Kendall and Souness above him in any list, and depending on the criteria being used, Hughes possibly as the finest of them all. The one thing against him is that he never actually won anything as Rovers manager, other than our hearts. By God I was proud to be a Rovers fan with him in charge though!!!

  11. Good thread! In terms of what the rest of the football world must have thought of us, for me it is Shearer getting booed on his return. For what he did for us he should have received a ten minute standing ovation. That incident showed a lack of class that I have never seen anywhere else. I can’t honestly remember another club’s fans booing an ex superstar on his return. No doubt someone will provide an example (maybe Michael Owen at Anfield for United?) but this guy was a major reason why our dreams came true in 1995. Embarrassing defeats etc have happened to everyone at various points in their history, so Rovers are no different on that score. Post Venkys - well I wouldn’t know where to start!

  18. The proof of the pudding has always been, is always, and always will be what they do on the pitch. Could anyone imagine the likes of Howard Gayle or David Speedie grinning like a Cheshire Cat straight after a chastening performance and defeat like the one we suffered at Loftus Road? And anyone else in their squad doing likewise would have got a boot up the arse for their troubles, I'm sure. Edit: Great minds Tyrone!

  21. I don't think too many Scots see it like that mate to be honest. And had it been England on the receiving end of that scoreline the jocks would have been all over us (which is the real point here to be honest). They had street parties in Glasgow when England lost the football world cup semi final last year (no kidding, they really did!)
  22. As an Englishman living in Scotland it doesn't get any better than this..... Scotland threaten legal action against World Rugby for being forced to humiliate themselves against Japan https://newsthump.com/2019/10/13/scotland-threaten-legal-action-against-world-rugby-for-being-forced-to-humiliate-themselves-against-japan/?fbclid=IwAR1RCmqahu7R_OviFrAOmQkKQhDQFjtzNxfSiN_rFfNheB7QatihF8PkpME
  23. While its difficult to argue with this in theory, in practice some of the biggest profits on player trading made since Venkys pitched up have surely been on defenders? (Off the top of my head Jones, Hanley, Dann and Duffy spring to mind). Venkys must take the blame for many of the things wrong with our club, but I cannot see them sanctioning a budget 'for strikers only', which was the gist of what my response was to. I'm afraid Mowbray is the culprit (for want of a better word) for spunking our transfer and wages budget on dross strikers when he had promised us defenders. And its about time someone called him out on it.
