  1. AW is definitely a Guardiola type player but he’s a lock picker, not a lock so I personally don’t see how he is a Rodri replacement. Bernardo maybe . I think we can all agree his ability to see passes others don’t is incredible, his ability to spot and cover danger/space was one of his weak/development areas.
  2. The hype came from him spraying the ball around in his own half. I’ve said all along he’s one of those players who looks good dropping deep and pinging it around, which teams are happy for him to do as it doesn’t hurt them. He’s missed several really important chances in 3 or 4 different games that have gone on to be costly. For all the talk of his ‘class’ I’ve yet to see him run a game for Rovers, and when I say run I mean in areas that hurt teams.
  3. I personally think Cantwell has had more 5/10 games than he’s had 8/10’s, flatters to deceive all too often for me
  4. Regarding his temperament, I thought their sending off caused a break in play that stopped him getting another booking. For a good 5 or 10 mins he seemed hell bent on picking up a second booking, with the game at 2-0 (the much discussed most dangerous scoreline) he was charing round like an idiot.
  5. You’ll not see a clearer penalty than that all year
  6. 15k a week works out (based on previous years) 60k per good game! No chance
  7. The chances that have fallen to his head or feet via crosses thus far would suggest otherwise. There is as much chance of him putting it in our net during that barrage than clearing it looking at the final resting point of his attempts at the other end!
  8. Sorry, yeah I should qualified with chances they created rather than chances we gifted them
  9. That really was a well planned and perfectly executed performance. The structure of the press and out of possession shape was brilliant. I’m not Dolan’s biggest fan but he was a worth winner of MOTM. once again Leeds flatter to deceive and for all their possession created very little. On the balance of chances we had 3 excellent opportunities (bar, Cantwell x2) and they had 0
  10. I think we're on something ridiculous like 3 up to now
  11. Leeds arguably have a worse side than last year and run out of ideas as quickly. Similar to the dingles if you give them space they will pick you off however remaining compact and well organised off the ball gives you a good chance of a point or more
  12. He might have done the mega on the touchline but when Travis played him through he displayed a touch like a serial killer and wasted a glorious chance of a counter attack.
  13. We’ve got very lucky in recent times with strikers hitting form and having breakout seasons however this season the lack of a forward will cost us promotion. In other seasons a forward has masked deficiencies or saved us. This year we look solid if unspectacular, which is often what gets you promoted. The lack of a forward will cost us. as the commentary are rightly pointing out
  14. The article doesn’t say that, it says Williams reduced ticket prices which saved fans across the board £1 million. A million that was recouped and then some with the record ticket sales and ancillary spend across the footprint of the game. It was a calculated cost/benefit decision by the board to stop crowds reducing in the face of a new tv deal that increased the amount of games on tv. also, try not to condescend to me the success in the 90’s and 00’s, I was there, home and away
  15. That’s nonsense, the TV deal in that period was a fraction of what it is now, with clubs reliant on Matchday income rather than it being an addition to their main source of income in TV deals. It was at the time a brilliant piece of marketing, and at the time was seen as an innovative and highly successful pricing strategy. Rovers relative success during that period was built on regularly averaging gates of 23k and above, which was driven by the idea that bums on seats generate additional spend which outweighs the ticket reduction.
  16. I don't think I've ever been to the Riverside when it's not been freezing cold, grim stadium
  17. The Tom Finn and John Williams offer of 199 or 149 (or whatever it was) for a full ST or 16 game Darwen End ST is the benchmark prices like that i.e. 249 and 199 respectively and we'll have 20k on.
  18. I think the incompetence claims are really disrespectful to ground staff who work tirelessly on the pitch in all weathers and clearly take pride in their work. We’re in a valley, next to a river. Covers or otherwise don’t solve the problem of an excess of water needing somewhere to drain, a full river doesn’t provide this.
  19. This, given we’re about to enter the coldest/darkest/wettest period of the year where grass doesn’t grow the pitch could be ruined for the remainder of the season playing today. Even with the stitched pitch, I think it’s a good decision to call today off to preserve the pitch.
  20. Anyone remember that farcical games against PNE a few years ago, we won 1-0 but there were loads of puddles all over the pitch.
  21. Mate of mine who’s north end said they were due one at 10.30, he could be wrong or heard it on the jungle drums
  22. To be fair it’s nothing to do with anyone at Ewood. Match officials and/or police are the ones who pull games. Most other games in Lancashire have announced inspections so you’d think we’ll follow suit
  23. The weather in Lancaster is absolutely terrible, with loads of flooded roads. How’s Blackburn looking? Can’t be arsed setting off at 12.30 to get turned around
