Decent result - think most would have taken it before kick-off. Glaringly obvious we are short of firepower and need a striker in the Graham mold. Armstrong will add a bit of pace in the three behind but with DG only lasting 70 minutes we cannot be bringing on Nuttal (he needs a loan to a L1 club to help his development). Dack couldnt really get in the game much as the ball was in the air too much in my opinion, simply because we lack a proper ball player in midfield. I am hoping Davenport can be that man. We missed a trick not bringing that Edwards in, he was the star of the show.

Ah...it was a year ago? Well still, point still stands. His stint at Birmingham does not look great on paper but I was told he was usually played wide. Besides, players will always do better at certain clubs as it depends on how well they get on with the group, manager and whether they fit the style of play. I dont care how well he did there and am looking at his time with us - which I thought he did pretty well. Anyhow, its all irrelevant as we have not really been linked with him despite being linked for a loan move a few weeks ago. Yeah agree that Mowbray does not really like out and out wingers it seems. I still feel we could do with one dynamic winger that can give us pace in situations when its called for. We had Chapman and even he was not used much but he was excellent when brought on. Him or Maddisson (both if i was being greedy) would be ideal as it gives us other options.

This - I really dont understand the hate for the kid. He has potential and did well last time despite us having a no-brain manager. Difficult to think of many others that are of a good age that could supplement Graham until he goes and then perhaps step up to replace him. Not worth 7mil of course and would imagine 2-3 mil would be enough.

We still need a like-for-like for Graham but Armstrong does give us other options. He can play alongside Graham or the like-for-like during games if TM needs to change things up and wants two up top. From what I gather Maddison is an out and out winger only. Would still love it if he also signed though.

Seen alot of that too being mentioned but I just cannot see it unless we for whatever reason decide not to sign him. He has always done well with TM, already knows the squad (even went on hols with them) and we have by far the better facilities. Just cannot see him choosing them over us.

Basically that they claim he is set to join with an initial 1.75mil up front and 1.25mil in addons. Also claim that he could even feature against Ipswich if the deal goes through. Then its basically just a bit of history about him at Newcastle and his loan deals.

Completely agree about Nixon but he is usually very vague - but if he has named names he is confident he wont look a fool.

It is in the sense that we need to be moulding Dg's replacement now really. Strikers aint cheap as we all know but bringing in someone that could share the workload with him this season and then potentially replace him the next is quite important in my opinion. A pacey out and out winger would be right up there too - get Chapman or Maddison for that position and I would be over the moon.

This confirmed yet? Would be great news if it is - its two positions for one player. If it is confirmed, IMO, we need a target man type similar to grhama and a pacey winger and at a push - a CB.
