  1. Not a cat in hells chance. Their stance on black lives matter is tokenism and costs nothing but lip service. It’ll be a rainy day in hell before sky make any decision that has commercial implications. If anything I can almost guarantee increased coverage of Newcastle. Makes me sick.
  2. I agree completely. Usually I view these things with indifference but the fact this regime is being allowed to sanitize itself in British sport is appalling. Their human rights record, support of terrorism, treatment of women and views on gay rights should make it impossible to pass the fit and proper test. Surprisingly not in the premiership. They really should hang there corporate self serving money making heads in shame. Sky should refuse to show their games as they have shown with their support of black lives matters that they are prepared to take a stance. This is not about football it’s about standing up to a vile and oppressive regime
  3. The basic problem is the old one after 4/5 years we lack the organisational ability and resilience to defend as a group. I can’t remember which one of the old arsenal defenders said” they were told to imagine they were strapped together by a rope and move as a unit”. The first sign of pressure we fold it’s every man for themselves. It’s all just very amateurish. We will finish mid table due to individual ability negated by poor organisation. The first one requires little management input the second one is all about management.
  4. None I hope judging from what I’ve seen they should be paying us
  5. And to achieve that has taken the best part of five years. It’s not that this is because we are a young team we were worse last season. We are 6th heading for 16th. The script is already written.
  6. I’m not sure if Covid and looking at what is happening at a lot of the clubs in the championship a new sense of commercial realism is wrong. I agree that nyambe lenihan rothwell are regular first team players but are they going to get substantial wage increase at any other club. None are premiership quality so it’s championship or league one. The only teams who could offer substantial wage increases are those with parachute money and would they pay large sums to potential squad players who may not even play if they are promoted. We released 12 players in summer that we were paying large wages for did any go on to bigger and better things. Yet historically we continued the cycle of increased contracts due to fear of losing them. I don’t know the offers on the table but we as a club are in a position were our viability is more important than their every increasing wage demands. I also don’t think we are the only club now taking a long hard look at the road we’ve been travelling
  7. It is but the fact that debate was being had tells you how good he was/ is. The point your making supports the point I was making. I’ve conceded not the best. However comparisons to Grealish tells you the case he was in
  8. Who was better. I suppose players coming down from the premiership but are they that much better. Better paid. I suppose it all personal opinion. So for me the best but I’ll concide to one of the best. One thing is sure there isn’t a single championship team that would not want him as part of their team
  9. Hypothetically if we are there or there abouts what a great addition Dack will be. He was the best player in this league before his injuries.
  10. Yeah and it’s true after 30 odd years of marriage she’s learned the hard way to humour me as far as Rovers are concerned
  11. I’m working in Cornwall and I was on a walk to st Agnes with my wife and I said exactly the same thing to her. Dack is our talisman but it may create serious strategy issues for our general
  12. Mowbray is far better with limited resources and not allowing him to spend or bring in expensive loans stops his tinkering to keep everyone happy and as a result it brings stability to the team. In the past when injuries have limited his options our results have improved. As a manager he is the exact same animal now as last season the only thing that’s changed is circumstances all the old high earners released or sold and no recruitment. It may strangely work in his and more importantly our favour. I am holding my breath like everyone else because previous experience tells me there is always the death spiral just around the corner.
  13. In the Cardiff thread was it my defence of the Norway guy that was regarded as unacceptable. I don’t feel it was aggressive or controversial. I felt the reponse to his post was awful. In response to AKK I merely expressed those views. It was I agree an opinion but censorship was I feel unnecessary and heavy handed
  14. I think a win today 8 games in still in our usual early season good form. Praying it continues the test comes after 12 games in that is usually when the wind changes. Prediction 3 v1 today. ive just recognised that I’ve become a pessimist.
  15. As it stands we’ve got off to a good start and sit in the play off places. Logic would say Mowbray is safe but this is Venkies. Kean went when we were 4th. I’ve got my fingers crossed that they randomly pull the trigger because now would be the ideal time for a new manager
  16. How many other teams in this league are situated in one of the most economically deprived areas in the country . Have a catchment population of a maximum of 140000 with large sections of that population supporting Liverpool or Man Utd. Yet our senior management after a Covid epidemic decide to hike up prices again and charge extra for entrance on the day. We can never be criticised for our support or as a club our achievements. To use the adage we are lions led by donkeys. To complete this Jack built a stadium to match his dreams so don’t use the 20000 empty seat ms as a stick to beat us . If those in charge had lived up to the dream it would have been a success
  17. I agree Gav but the only way a mid championship side gets out of this league is by having a visionary manager. : see dyche as an example. He is a run of the mill championship manager/league one. He will never be any more. That’s not a failing but a fact and not due to Venkies but down to ability. So while like everyone I agree Venkies are the problem that does not excuse him. I don’t think he’s the worst we’ve had but he has run his course and will take us no further. That is not only a football thing but happens in every industry. For every excuse there’s an explanation to you make one I’ll explain it. He’s not good enough and Venkies or not he’s proved that previously his mistakes are repetitive due to his limitations.
  18. I haven’t read all the responses because I’ve just got in. I’ll answer that for you from experience because by Christmas or shortly after we will be on a long losing streak. I’ll guarantee that it’s a given
  19. I agree. For me this is a dead season. Let’s not get relegated keep whatever money has been generated to ward off ffp and let’s see the back of Mowbray. Next season hopefully new manager fresh ideas. Venkies surely have to get it right eventually. Having said that off to boro tomorrow and still excited. I’m a walking contradiction
  20. So the captain of our ship has been at the helm for five years. The ship is in collision course with the rocks but you can’t blame the captain. It’s not his fault he put together the wrong crew, set the wrong course and didn’t correct his course when the compass told him he was heading in the wrong direction. No it’s the absentee owners fault who have trusted him and his fellow officers to get the job done with substantial funds. Whats the answer don’t replace him because things could get worse. I will never look back with any fondness on the Mowbray years. He’s an out of touch, self preserving old dinosaur. Even the Forest fans recognised this eleven he tried to defend Hughton. PS Let’s see if he’s given a 2 wins in 17 run before he’s potted. We all know he won’t be because only at rovers is failure and mediocrity tolerated and only our fans would try and defend it as though it could be worse if we remove him
