  1. Difficult one this for Rovers, up against the form side in the division. Its not out of the question that we can get another win under our belts, but also a draw would not be a shabby result either. If we can come away with something, it would be a decent result. Bowen vs Dack will be interesting to see, curious as to what center backs get the nod now that Mulgrew is nearing match readiness. What about Nuttall? Scoring goals, must be considered as well. Thats why Tony get paid the big bucks. Meanwhile, I spoke with young Bobbi Hadgraft die hard Hull City supporter, about her love for the tigers as we countdown to kick off.
  2. Job done by Mowbray and the boys. Could and should have been a more comfy victory but we didnt have our finishing boots on. Hoping we can sharpen the shots next weekend against Red Hot Hull City. Thoughts from the gaffa, guest Benjamin Bloom from Blue Monday Podcast and more.
  3. Utter bollocks! Was an insightful viewing, seemed a solid bloke, for me the videos were more about the atmosphere, and the voice of the fans. The goals much of a bonus. I am very surprised that this has happened. not sure if I recall seeing any "no filming" or "photographs not permitted" in and around Ewood.
  4. Back to business in the league against and old gaffa, who... well was a bit marmite... aka Herr Lambert as he is often referred to by his ex Dortmund buddies. Ipswich been very busy in the transfer window since it opened with a few new experienced bodies to add to the mix. Despite their position, this could be one of them shitty ones. Hoping we have enough class to see it through with the win. If we can string a few wins together over the next 4 or 5 weeks we could be back in the mix. This week I chatted with Ipswich Town supporter and host of Blue Monday podcast Benjamin Bloom about their season and his hopes for the weekend.
  5. Somebody call the police as we have just witnessed a robbery! Chief suspect Lee Propert and his two bandits! Bizarre match that. Going 2-0 down early doors to then claw our way back into it. Play the toon off the pitch (perhaps slight exaggeration) in the 2nd half, then concede two goals in quick succession (same old story... focus for crying out loud). For once I was hoping for penalties. Ah well. Cup run was fun... One plus for me is the continued bit of form for Armstrong. Travis looking the part week by week. Need some new bodies around the place. Raya needs someone breathing down his neck, defense needs a revamp. Wingers... we need wingers. I would even give Gladwin another crack! Thoughts from the gaffa and more.
  6. Big opportunity for Rovers tomorrow as we welcome Premier League Newcastle United. Rovers seemed to have kicked on from our dogged festive schedule. Should be able to play with our pressure and freedom as Rafa and the Toon will be under the microscope. Hoping we can kick on from Saturday and give the Rovers fans something to be happy about. Match build up and more,
  7. BIg result today not only for the team but for some of the players. Nuttall getting his just deserts with a start and a goal, and Armstrong proving he can be a game changer whether its from the off or from the bench. I had my doubts prior to kick off as The Den has its reputation, and my worries grew furthermore when Dack came off. But Mowbray gets slagged off when his subs dont work, so he should get showered with plaudits for his tactical calls today... the gaffa done good. Thoughts from the gaffa, my main man Michael Avery (Millwall) fan and more.
  8. Hoping to see another positive performance by Rovers in this one. Under the microscope of the camera once again. Millwall always tricky and have turned a massive corner of late. Spoke with Millwall supporter Michael Avery about the match, catch his thoughts and mine.
  9. Just back from purchasing my tickets to catch the Newcastle FA Cup match. Hopefully Cpt Fab will be playing to finish off the Toon (like he does). Dont usually do match preview for Cup games but thought I would. Recorded live outside Ewood Park (bit ballsy). Could go either way this one. The Toon are up for grabs.
  10. Well we made it. Travelled 3500 miles to witness a decent Rovers performance that took home all 3 points. Despite not dominating possession we took our chances and pressed West Brom hard. Reed and Travis were exceptional today, best players on pitch. Mulgrew and Dack may get the headlines, but those two midfielders ran their socks off. Thoughts from the gaffa and more... Loved it... despite the cold.
  11. Just touched down in Lancashire, better late than never. Even at sea I managed to catch the Great Collapse that was Sheff Utd vs Rovers. Despite the shambles that was the last 20 minutes, Rovers did look decent against Sheffield United, with Mowbrays experimental lineup proving to be quite effective. Travis and Rothwell the standouts. Hope to see them against West Brom in 2019. Here is my thoughts, albeit it late from the top deck of a ship in the middle of the North Sea.
  12. Wont be at this one... hoping to make the West Brom match... before the FA Cup (free hit) against Newcastle United. Busy period, but hopefully we can get something on Saturday. Yes its been a bitter few days, getting robbed against Norwich and Leeds... have we learned our lesson for this one? Or more of the same. Match build up and more.
  13. Getting to be a bit of a habit this... not closing out games! Perhaps we should consider a new formation that can utilize Mulgrew as a midfielder and get two center backs that know what they are doing. He is to good to be dropped... however we need an improved defense, which means new faces! It will be difficult to drop some of these lads that got us back to the Championship, but needs must. Cruel to be kind. Thoughts from the gaffa & more.
  14. Not a nice one for Rovers with the only blessing being that we beat them earlier in the season. Can lightning strike twice? Hmmmm.... doubtful. Hoping the injuries will open the doors for others. Chance now for Rothwell and Co. Thoughts and a nasty prediction from the Cat.... before I forget... Merry Christmas all.
  15. Unlucky not to get anything from that game if I am honest. It was always going to be a tough one. Looks like Norwich have that special something at the moment winning games when things are not looking like it. Thoughts from the gaffa, and opposition fans Harvey Monk & more.... p.s. I am on a boat.
  16. Norwich looking to get back to top sport before Christmas, Rovers trying to get back to winning ways. Could be a few goals in this one. Hoping we define all expectations and snatch a win despite being out-fancied. Spoke with Norwich City fan Harvey Monk before the match, catch his opinions, and mine, plus a cheeky prediction from the cat.
  17. Bit of mess this one, despite my pre kick off reservations about taking a draw, we should have easily bagged all three today in what appears to be horrific conditions (which I look forward to experiencing against West Brom on NYD). Days like this happen, shame it could not have happened elsewhere. Birmingham even had chances to snatch the win themselves, but failed. All up hill from here. Norwich next, which looks scary, but they are not Man City... think we can surprise a few next weekend, just need to get over this one quick time. Thoughts from the gaffa & more.
  18. This one concerns me a little, as Birmingham have been a major surprise for me. They didnt start the season in too good a shape, but now, they sit above us in 9th. Its not been the best of form for them, but they still have the ability to be troublesome on Saturday. Big team selection decisions for Mowbray this weekend, Big Ben and Rothwell must be close to a start. Armstrong must be further back after his no show against Boro. Will be interesting all the same. Also, a small matter of Connor Mahoney's return to Ewood! Tomatoes at the ready? Or pound notes?
  19. Disappointed with the result with the one man advantage however Middlesbrough are no push overs, and most teams (bar Aston Villa the other week) will find it difficult to break down an UBER defensive team like them on any given day even with 10 men. Bigger problem is our finishing. Dack had our best opportunity today (other than our goal) hitting the woodwork, however Evans, Smallwood and other all had opportunities to fire off a shot but opted against it. We need to encourage players to "Have a go" more often. Anywho, good point, now lets follow up with a win against another stubborn team Birmingham. Thoughts from the gaffa and Boro fan John Gaunt & more.
  20. Cracking response from the lads today. Glad to see Conway receiving many plaudits. He has waited for his chance and grabbed with both hands. As did Downing, looked very solid. Maybe we dont need to buy a new center back as we have a decent one gathering dust in the full squad. Also another small cameo from Travis, competition for places is very healthy for the squad, Armstrong & Co need to step up now for the next one. Selection headache ahead for the gaffa.
  21. Response needed in front of the home faithful. Some "gucci" players need a wake up call, whether its 45 - 60 minutes on the bench, so be it. There should be competition for places across the board. Raya is a good keeper, but without no disrespect to Leutwiler, the competition between the sticks is minimal. Dont get me started on the competition for places in defense. We may have overstacked in the summer for midfield, but we never improved the other areas, and if we did, we only did so marginally. I'll take a point, but want all 3.
  22. Shambolic to say the least. Rovers need a good kick up the arse ahead of the match on Saturday. Drop the undropables, give Lewis Travis and Big Ben and Joe Rothwell a run out. We need players hungry for the opportunity, some players getting to comfortable without the effort. My thoughts plus words from the gaffa & more.
  23. Urgh! Tough one this. Wigan form is not great but they will be difficult especially at home, on the flipside our form stinks a bit too... one win in 5?! Need some bounce-back-ability here and fast. Important 2 fixtures ahead, if we can scramble 4 from 6 that would be a great coup.
  24. Meh! That was horrific. Probably in the top 5 worst displays in the last 18 months by Rovers. Lets say Rovers have some cash to spend in the next window, we need to focus on Defense. Good backup keeper for Raya, a new center back, right back cover for Nyambe, then focus on a goalscorer if we can find one. I love Mulgrew and Lenihan, and I dont want to drop either of them, however if the competition for spots is more fierce then perhaps their performances on the pitch will improve. Look at midfield, we have so much depth in the squad that Rothwell has problems getting a start. Competition is healthy for the rest of the squad. We looked tired, lacked drive and energy today, hoping its just a blip in the road, and if we can bounce back on Wednesday this will seem much less a nasty result. Thoughts from the Gaffa and more.
  25. Always a tricky one this. Form book goes out the window with this fixture, which might be a good thing as Preston despite their league position have been in top notch form. Turned the corner at a very good time, as we get into the mad Christmas period. If they play their cards right they could be bubbling in the top half before we end 2018. As for Rovers, next two matches are MASSIVE, very winnable, but also very lose-able! Hoping Tony & Co have rested easy this week, and fingers crossed we have a fresher looking squad with Nyambe and Mulgrew back. Could this be the day... that Big Ben makes a name for himself?!
