Mowbrays Successor
Armchair supporter supremo replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Just for curiosity sake really.... But are there any foreign ex rovers players or coaches currently managing(or coaching at a good level) abroad and looking decent? -
Tony Mowbray Discussion

I don't understand your question sorry? Both those managers have far better CVs than Mowbray, but i don't think any of those managers are what we need longterm. Also we have some of the best attcking players in the league at present so we need a manager that will get the best of them, whilst at the same time sorting out our awful defensive setup. -

Pullis 🤢 I despair, we need someone whos going to bring some optimism & charisma with him, not another hasbin dinosaur. When Mowbray was initially hired, he was the right man for the job at that time and it turned out to be one of the venkys very few successful decisions, let's keep a little faith and hope we again get the right man for the job and also that they don't let Mowbray carry on moping about the place for much longer, further destroying whatever moral is left at the training ground! -

How about a veeeeery belated appointment of Sven until the end of the season (longer if he does well) Or Ranieri 🤷♂️ -
Mowbrays Successor

Yeah Appleton was just way too young and his timing was unlucky, his fate was sealed before he even walked through the door with Shabby lurking in the shadows undermining his every decision. Also sadly it didn't help that he had a matching dome as Kean at the time!!! he now looks much better with the rug(or is it implants🤔) -

very much looks that way, lets just hope this doesn't become another Venky Farce and they make a swift change before player moral completely disintegrates and we go into freefall. Saying that I think for as long as top 6 is still mathematically possible and we win the occasional game then Mowbrey and his cronies will continue to bs the venkys(or whoever makes the big decisions at the club these days) -

At this point id take D Johnson as caretaker until the end of the season, he knows the young players well and how to get the best out of them (unless whoevers running the club these days has a Trump card up their sleeve!) I think sadly Mark Hughes is now well passed his best and is now in a similar category as Mowbray as a manager (that said he's still worth a punt, maybe his recent break from the game has rejuvenated him) We need a relatively young hungry manager/coach with fresh ideas, good man management skills and some bloody charisma about him! -

The only way Mowbray will leave or get potted is if he loses the dressing room, but as most of the players in the squad where hand picked by him or brought into the senior squad by him that's highly unlikely to happen. saddly. but we'll never do better than mid table in the championship with him and his transparent tactics, lack off a plan b..c... I'd say that I'd love to see Leslie back managing us, but can't see him coming to the championship unless its to a club with genuinely big ambitions and substantial transfer funds available. -

Lenihan reminds me of a poorer mans christian daily and Nyambe is just an average championship player at best, neither are promotion candidate material in my opinion. -

We need an entire new backline and goalkeeper and they need to be solid, determined, experienced players if the aim is to genuinely get right into the play off spots, other than that I think the squad has more than enough attacking players good enough to see most teams off in this league. -
Underrated Rovers 11
Armchair supporter supremo replied to Bohinen 22's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm glad Sandomierski was the first player I saw in this, I also thought he showed a lot of potential and a great attitude when he was on the pitch for us. I bet he'd be a good shout to go back in for now if/when Walton leaves at the end of the season(whenever that may be.....) Other than that though I think most of the other players you mentioned where all appreciated for what they where! (by most of us they where anyway) -
sorry if this has been covered already! But ffs!! ok weigh up other options Waggot, BUT naming a training pitch after Tony Parkes, get stuffed! how minial of a compliment is that for such a great Ambassador, player, coach, manager and Icon of the club & town of Blackburn is that. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/steve-waggott-tony-parkes-blackburn-17706368

If Tony goes...
Armchair supporter supremo replied to Wegerleswiggle's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
pretty sure if Mowbray goes it will be D Johnson in a "caretaker" role and tge job will be his to lose. Things have now gone beyond the point of no return for Mowbray though imo! unless the owners are satisfied with the team being in a relagation battle. -

QPR Away

Can't fault the playets relly anymore, more than half if them are played out of their natural position every week (inc. Leninhan! nor a cb) the others are either just past it or not up to it at this level. All poor managerial faults. Truely why we never signed an experienced championship cb during the summer we may never know! We pay way over the odds for inexperienced forwards(one of which struggles to get in the squad even when fit) but when it comes to defenders and centre midfielders Mowbray continually states he refuses to pay over the odds for players as a matter of principle! (although you could argue we paid well over the odds for Bell) -

Mowbray couldn't pick his nose and is about as tactically efficient as steve keans left testicle. He even admits the day before games that he has no idea who his best 11 is!(or even his best match day squad it seems?) There's not enough pressure on the manager from above, and that Lacksadaisy mentality has fed into the players. -

If Mowbray left then I'm 95% certain Damien Johnson would take over (likely in a caretaker role initially) -

neither have I !!!!! Just not a priority when we dont have a natural senior cb in the squad -

What's so exciting about cunningham? He just seems like another mediocre championship squad player, which is fine if not getting relegated and possibly finishing mid table again is this seasons only aim and objective also we' already got 2 senior left backs (bell & williams) + young Hart who looks promising, Yet we still dont have a single senior natural CB in the squad!!! -

Dreary trucking me Mulgrew leaving, fine he's no good at all as cb in this league and doesn't have the legs to play anywhere else. letting him(and the few other cbs we've let go this summer) go without a good more tallented replacement is just poor idiocrcy and will lead to the end of the rd to the Mowbray reign. -
Summer Transfer Window 2019
Armchair supporter supremo replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
So we've started the season without a single natural senior centre back in the first team! (Mulgrew and lennihan are not natural cb's for me and tosin seriously lacks experience playing first team football as a cb) and yet were just still being linked to attacking player wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Gutted if Nuttall leaves(for chump money!) Looks our most natural finisher after graham, has all the physical qualities to go with it and become a top championship goalscorer if given chance by a manager that supports him. Definitely going to be one well regret letting go so easily in a year or 2. -
Mowbray: Stay or go?
Armchair supporter supremo replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Thats just it, I think in the long run after the initial excitement of a new manager has gone we'd likely just find we've just swapped like for like, I think of the current list of available managers theres only really Hughes that id be excited about, but that's mainly just because im a sentimental idiot If not Hughes then i think its about time we started looking at continental managers (slavisa jokanovic proven winner in the championship or Daniel Stendel promising manager plays very pressing football??) -

I agree but changing the manager(and coaching staff) again is as big of a gamble, especially when you look at the list of possible replacements(just the usual has beens, never gonna bees and journeymen managers)
