  2. A very profitable tournament for me. Pleased for Price he's had an excellent few years and thoroughly deserves to be World Champion.
  3. Well he would have spent net zero wouldn't he. I don't need to argue it that would be a simple fact. Didn't Coyle give Wharton his first team debut. I'm almost certain that he played in a draw at home to Burton as well as scoring in a league cup game.
  4. Because thanks to Mowbray taking us down we had to spend a year in the third tier, where Mowbray had a budget that blew the whole division out of the water but could still only muster second place. I am going of the time that Mowbray has spent in the second tier. Also why do you continue to ignore the points about net spend Leeds only spend that money because they sold Wood for £15 Million, Cook for £6 Million, Roofe for £5 Million, Viera for £6 Million, Jansson for £5 Million, Clarke for £10 Million. Mowbray since he has has been manager (including in League 1) has spent getting on for £19 Million and has only sold Raya for £3 Million and Steele for £500K. It doesn't take a genius to work out how Mowbray could increase his transfer budget you simply do what the likes Leeds, Brentford etc do which is to cash in on their high value players and reinvest in the squad. Mowbray is very luck in that he gets to keep the likes of Nyambe, Dack, Travis and Armstrong and he is also given funds to add to the squad as well. There aren't many managers in this division who are able to do that.
  5. In the three season before Leeds got into the Premiership they spent £35 Million on players (in the two years under Bielsa it was just £10 Million) but how did they manage to spend that amount because in the same 3 years they received £50 Million in transfer fees. So in those 3 years they were actually £15 Million in profit in terms of transfer fees. If Mowbray wanted to he could have cashed in on a Dack or Armstrong in recent years for £15-20 Million and he could have then spent even more money on top of the £17 Million that he has already spent. But he has decided not to do that and has been very fortunate that he has not had to sell any key players and has also always been given funds to strengthen what he already has. Of clubs that have been in the Championship for the last 3 years with us there aren't many that have a higher net spend us.
  6. Bielsa got Leeds out of the Championship spending £10 Million in his 2 seasons in charge whilst selling £33 Million worth of talent. Mowbray in his 3 seasons the Championship for us has sold just £3 Million worth of talent and has spent £15 Million on strikers alone. Leeds United - Transfers 19/20 | Transfermarkt Leeds United - Transfers 18/19 | Transfermarkt Huddersfield just getting into the Premiership for two season was a fantastic achievement and if we could manage to do that the clubs long term financial future would be much more secure. And given that our owners are considerably richer than the Huddersfield owners was you'd hope that we would spend more than they did in order to stay there longer.
  7. How do you know he would have been a regular here? I thought Mowbray didn't guarantee a regular spot to signings. When Bauer didn't sign last year you said that no signing should be assured of being a regular. I also don't understand what is so hard to comprehend about a Frenchman who has no allegiance to any club in England moving to a club in the biggest most watched League in the world over a mid table second tier club.
  8. Leeds didn't spend massive amounts of money on players, what they did go out and spend big money on was a top class manager who improves players and that took them from mid table in the Championship to the top flight. West Brom lost 45 goals from the previous season and they didn't spend crazy amounts in fact I they ended up in net profit for last seasons transfers. Zohore was their biggest signing and he didn't play much. Also Mowbray hasn't spent insignificant sums over the last few years and he has also not lost any of his key players. Not many managers in the Championship can say that they get money to strengthen every window and are never forced to sell key players. Huddersfield still managed to spend 2 seasons in the Premiership if we could manage to achieve that then the future of our club would look much brighter. Villa didn't spend much when they got promoted what they did well was utilise the loan market well whereas you'd have to say Mowbray's record in the loan market has been rather more mixed. Warnock at Cardiff just showed what a manager with a bit of nous can do for you at this level, Mowbray doesn't have that nous. I could also give you plenty more teams who have changed managers and achieved success but they wouldn't fit your narrative that we should should be happy to plod along in no mans land with the Messiah Mowbray. Also I'm not sure when we last brought a manager in with the aim of being promoted? The last few have all been brought into try and keep us up. Souness I supposed would be the last time we did that and if I remember correctly that worked out quite well. That was the problem the last time we had a decent side when Bowyer was in charge we kept a mediocre mid table manager rather than bring in someone who could take us up, sadly it seems like history is repeating itself again.
  9. Ivanovic wasn't there when he signed and having seen the their other defenders Kipre probably thought that he could displace them and having seen them he certainly couldn't do any worse than them. I'd rather have a player who backs himself to make it at the highest level than someone who is content to just play in the second tier for the whole of their career. That's the problem with Rovers at the moment we have fans, players and a manager who are just content to plod along in mid table of the second tier.
  10. Villa twisted won promotion, Leeds twisted won promotion, West Brom twisted won promotion, Wolves twisted won promotion, Cardiff twisted and won promotion in Warnock's first full season, Huddersfield twisted and won promotion in Wagner's first full season. But of course little old Blackburn Rovers should know their place and all hail the Messiah Mowbray and the continuous plod along in mid table of the second tier.
  11. So you want a team of players who are content to play in the Championship even when the opportunity to play in the top flight arises. No wonder you are so happy with Mowbray in charge. No ambition.
  12. He backed his own ability to go and play and make it in one of the best leagues in the world you can't blame anyone for that. Would you want Rovers to be signing a player who didn't back his own ability and was content to stay playing Championship football, rather than challenging himself?
  13. I'm not sure if you have had a look at the club's finances but the only thing that is going to sort them out is immediate promotion to the Premier League otherwise the future is very bleak. It is unsustainable to lose the amount that we are losing whilst plodding along in mid table of the second tier preaching patience. Also as we have seen previously the owners will only fund a push for promotion for a few years before a fire sale begins.
  14. Don't know who we could get from Liverpool they have fewer fit centre halves than us.
  15. I said it at the time you didn't need to be a genius to work out that Ayala, Williams and to a lesser extent Lenihan aren't the most reliable when it comes to fitness. We were always going into the season a centre back light.
  16. Then bring in a manager who improves defenders and can organise a solid back line. We are still paying most of Mulgrew's wages as we did last season thanks to Tony giving him a 2 year contract extension yet in those 2 years he has played just 2 games for the club. Richie Smallwood was given a extra years extension and in that year never played a first team game, he even gave him an extra 6 week contract to see out the end of last season even though he was never going to play. Sent Chapman packing? He signed him twice. You talked about our small budget well it's no wonder it's so small when the manager so recklessly spends the clubs money on players who aren't good enough.
  17. You didn't need to be a genius to work out that Ayala, Williams and to a lesser extent Lenihan aren't the most reliable when it comes to fitness. We were always going into the season a centre back light and we have paid the price for that.
  18. Is he not? He's been injured since October with ankle ligament damage. A few weeks back I think Mowbray said around February for a return.
  19. Terrible game of football at times in the second half it seemed like both sides were playing a friendly. Great to see Dack back on the score sheet but in terms of his overall performance again I thought he looked like he wasn't sure what role he was supposed to be playing. Davenport was very solid in the middle of the park, let's hope he doesn't revert straight back to being an unused sub. The opposition weren't great but I thought he looked a breath of fresh air compared to having the half hearted performances that Holtby's has put in this season. Elliott was class, that ball to Armstrong for the first goal was sensational he's the only player in our squad with the ability to play see the pass and then to play it. One of the great disappointments of this season is that we won't get to see this future star playing for Rovers in the flesh. Dolan's work for the second goal was excellent he has to start more is pace and quick feet terrify defenders. Gallagher showed mid week not for the first time that if you play him through the middle he can have a positive impact. Today he showed though for the umpteenth time that he is not and never will be a wide man.
  20. Elliott range of passing is sensational. Lovely finish from Armstrong. I dread to think where we would be this season without those two.
  21. Just seen that Jutkiewicz is back for them. I expect that his presence will cause our 'defence' problems.
  22. The midfield and front 4 if played in their best positions look good enough, the back 4 looks like a recipe for disaster. Expecting plenty of goals at both ends today.
  23. Don't think it will make much difference to Dolan. Chapman has managed just one 5 minute sub appearance in the last 17 games. It's Mowbray's strange dislike of wingers that it stopping Dolan getting opportunities.
