  1. I do wonder if that was another "Waggott special", Offer a 3 or 4 year contract on £X/week, and then once he is over here, done medical etc, offer a lower amount, and end up doing a deal on a lower wage but shorter contract. Waggott then brags to his bosses about all the money he has saved, completely disregarding that if Kargbo hits the ground running and has a good year, by the time Rovers get around to tying him down to a longer contract, he will only have a year left, and will sit it out and walk on a free to a club with deeper pockets
  2. Its because of the Sierra Leone flag (posted before the Kargbo signing)
  3. From the reverse angle it looked like it took a very slight deflection off the Preston defender (which didn't really change the flight of the ball) before Gueye got the final touch
  4. Injured apparently Harry Leonard misses out on the squad after picking up a knock in training in the week.
  5. no where near yet (neither is Vare in my opinion, which shows how stretched the squad is), Mafoumbi is quite quick though
  6. Tyjon is injured https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/january/30/preview--rovers-under-21s-v-queens-park-rangers-under-21s/ However, surprised that an attacking midfielder (Vare) was on the bench rather than a forward (Mafoumbi etc) Also, after Litherland, Edmondson & O'Grady-Macken being on the bench recently, none were part of todays squad, maybe they are off out on loan this weekend?
  7. JDT liked his full backs to come inside and overload central midfield (hence JRC looked great at right back under him), Eustace likes at least one to overlap wide (which benefits Brittain)
  8. Assistant manager is a set piece coach https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/february/10/in-profile--matt-gardiner/
  9. yes https://x.com/Rovers/status/1885402667825926539
  10. Only until 2027 (no mention yet of an option). seems a very short deal. It seems that the only players contracted beyond 2027 are currently Atcheson & O'Riordan (although Pickering, Gueye and Ohashi do have options that would take them to 2028)
  11. Played a couple for the U21s, big jump up though as has played mostly for U18s https://www.playmakerstats.com/player/frank-vare/1043052
  12. Are you sure that you are not watching a free stream and you found the Preston commentary?
  13. Garrett loaned to Tranmere https://x.com/Rovers/status/1885372478924767460
  14. Whilst that is towards the top end of what Rovers pay in salary these days, its pretty basic by Championship standards. Given he was a player with Champions League experience, and given his initial appearances for Rovers before his deal was made permanent, it looked a decent bet when he was signed Edit - He scored 5 in 16 before signing permanently, which isn't bad at all for a wide player, https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/december/22/i-m-loving-my-football-again--says-siggy/
  15. both Kargbo and Youan are right footed, and both have predominantly played on the left side (when they have been played wide rather than central) Kargbo -https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/augustus-kargbo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/549791/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id= Youan - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/elie-youan/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/465715/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=
  16. I just added to my previous reply as you typed this, apparently he turned down Premier League interest to sign a pro deal with Rovers Then got injured
  17. Its the reason he is no longer at either Barcelona or Liverpool. Given how Finneran, Phillips etc acted, it is a shame that someone who seemingly showed Rovers a bit of loyalty despite Premier League interest has had his career interrupted by injuries As Zak’s scholarship deal with Blackburn was nearing its end, several premiership clubs registered their interest in signing him.In a surprising move, Zak showed loyalty to Blackburn and signed the first professional deal of his career. However, his time with Rovers’ under-23 team this season has been frustrating due to injuries and fitness, culminating in an unfortunate ACL injury in October
  18. Nothing from the club that I can see but this (which may or may not be accurate) says he is out until late Feb
  19. Personally, I would be seeing if Chesterfield would want Garrett on loan, They had a good experience with Markanday on loan from us, and they have the constantly injured Fleck as a midfield option, so he would surely get minutes there. Accrington as another option have given Batty minutes when he has been fit
  20. Jackson so confident of Rovers doing next to no transfer business that he has gone off on a jolly until the QPR game next week
  21. Surely they should be using at least £2.5M to pay the electric bill for the next few months? Silly short sighted Swansea
  22. Just about the bold bit, I think most clubs do use this model now. Certainly the vast majority of Premier League teams, and over 75% of Championship teams have someone with a title which amounts to "Director of Football" or similar. I will grant that the manager/head coach of some of these teams have more say so than others, which is normally directly correlated with their prior level of success (ie Guardiola, Klopp etc were given more say so as they were "known quantities"). But even so, Man City, Liverpool Arsenal etc do have a "Director of Football"
  23. Personally I think we will see more inertia this summer. Dolan, Sigurdsson, Forshaw & Hilton will leave at the end of their contracts, Hyam, Hedges, Markanday & probably even Vale will have their options taken up (in Vales case, probably just so a small fee/sell on can be obtained) We will probably extend Weimann and Batth for another year The likes of Batty & an injured Gilsenan will probably also be cheap enough for a new contract to be agreed The summer afterwards on the other hand will then see the following out of contract Travis, Tronstad, Brittain, Hyam, Batth, Weimann, Hedges, Markanday
  24. Also worth noting that Barrow are currently 18th in the League 2 table, and Doncaster 2nd. having won 4 of their last 5. Also, I the guy going up against Duru was a highly rated kid on loan from Man Utd (Ethan Ennis), so he wasn't getting ripped apart by a League 2 "jobber", and it was always going to be one of his bigger tests this season. Hopefully he learns from it and can improve the defensive side of his game as the season progresses
