Has has not featured for the U21s. Might have possibly played behind closed doors, but we (fans on a forum) wouldn't know how he had done if he had 😉

EFL League 1 and 2 chat

Assume they have seen Russell Martin (MK Dons to Swansea to Southampton) and Kompany (Dingles to Bayern) fail upwards in recent years and fancy the same happening to them. In short, looking after themselves first and foremost, rather than the team they are currently managing. Maybe this is justified given how quickly clubs dispense with managers who are not doing well? What I do question though is why those who employ these managers seem happy with this situation. There is no real short term benefit to these clubs, especially in League 1 & 2, and it seems to result in the manager being poached by a club higher up the ladder. Maybe the compensation fees are enough of a benefit? Both in terms of clubs higher up the ladder paying compensation fee to bring the manager to them, and also in terms of transfer fees received for players who are more acclimatized to this style of football. It does make you wonder if a truly ambitious lower league club (and presumably one with an owner able to financially sustain the club) should be as "anti football" as possible in order to discourage clubs in higher divisions from taking players & managers off them, and as such, keep a team together to grow and develop. -

https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/september/22/team-news--preston-north-end-v-rovers/ Seems to indicate that whilst Brittain & Sigurdsson are back in training (as per Eustace earlier this week), they were not fit enough for today. To be honest, if they are only at say 80-90%, why bring them back early when we can already name that bench? -

On the bright side, they at least now have the U21 and U18 squad pictures on the website, only taken them 3-4 months, lol https://www.rovers.co.uk/Teams/u21 https://www.rovers.co.uk/Teams/u18

Ipswich have been playing him in a similar manner to how Rovers have been playing JRC and Baker this season. He starts off as one of the wider players in the 3 behind the striker, and then moves centrally into a number 10 position when Ipswich have the ball. Problem is they don't have the ball quite as much this season, so he spends most of his time either pressing or helping out his full back rather than being a goal threat. Maybe once Clarke forces his way into the first 11, Szmodics will move more centrally and Hutchinson will compete with Burns & Ogbene for the spot on the right side

Shame for him https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/motherwell-dealt-new-striker-injury-33719178 I do wonder if Michalski has also suffered an injury. Bamber Bridge loaned in a young keeper from PNE last week who started for them this weekend, with Michalski not even on the bench (having been first choice all season up until that point, including in a win on their last game on Wednesday) -

Markanday and Batty both start, Fleck also on the bench for Chesterfield Both games are on Sky +, kick offs at 12:30 Edit, Half time, Accrington 2-0 up, and Markanday has put Chesterfield 1-0 up -

Leonard starts for U21s. Based on that lineup, assuming Tyjon playing as a 10 (not for the first time this season) behind Leonard, which makes me wonder if this is just a case of fitting players into an 11, or if this is where they (at least initially) see Tyjon as breaking into the first team? He seems to have very good movement, and playing off a 9 would be less physically demanding on a younger player

Turning Japanese I think we're turning Japanese Because of Yuki -
U18s at home to Derby at 12:30 today U21s away to Villa at 12:00 noon. According to the pre match preview, Isaac Whitehall is injured again. Not seen this mentioned previously, but a quick search shows he was withdrawn early in consecutive games vs Man Utd & Colchester and then didn't feature v Lyon

ok 🙂 The "much more than just being the coach" comment in your previous post seemed to imply that you thought he was going above and beyond his job description -

We have also seen that whilst Yuki can last a full 90, Gueye seems to run out of steam after 45-60 mins Gueye may improve his stamina as the season progresses, but for as long as that is the situation, it then becomes a case of does Eustace want to start or finish the game with Gueye on the pitch. A question which may have a different answer depending upon the opposition we are facing. Personally feel that the longer the season progresses, the less chance we have of seeing Ohashi and Gueye in the same starting lineup as going forwards, Cantwell will likely be the 10 behind one of Gueye or Ohashi -

They have been on the pitch at the same time in the Stockport cup game and also against Oxford. Yet to see them start together though, and more often than not, one has replaced the other as sub, so unsure if it would be seen by Eustace as an option to have them both in the same starting line up -

Could possibly see Gueye start as the 9, Ohashi move back to 10, and Dolan slide across to replace Bakers role, which would still allow Dolan to be the second number 10 when Rovers have the ball Pears Carter Batth Hyam Beck Travis Tronstad Hedges Ohashi Dolan Gueye But I feel Eustace will go with the same team as Bristol, Baker was the right footed set piece option (in my opinion he didn't really put in decent set piece deliveries, but Eustace seems to like to have a left footed and right footed option on the pitch) in a team that won 3-0, so that may be enough to keep him in the 11.
