  1. If he can't be sold, he is a very useful option/source of goals from the bench, but he likely isn't a starter due to work rate/consistency
  2. In that case, makes even more sense for him to wait and see which team is most lacking in centre backs after today
  3. As he is out of contract, he can move after the window closes. He may wait a week or 2 and see who is the highest bidder/most desperate club
  4. We can file it under "highly unlikely, but Brum do have mad owners, so still just about possible" if you like?
  5. Birmingham already had Laird and have signed 2 other players who can play right back already this summer https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfons-sampsted/profil/spieler/332530 https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/taylor-gardner-hickman/profil/spieler/546944
  6. That would imply "4 for the week by the end of today" given the comment he is replying to wouldn't it? Beck earlier in the week, and 3 more today
  7. Yes Cantwell is not someone who you have as part of a "double pivot" in front of the defence, edit, neither are Cundle, or from what I have seen of him, Hall from Birmingham
  8. Probably the most believable and true to life excuse given so far
  9. If only Rovers hadn't waiting until the middle off the summer to dump and replace the old scouting team eh?
  10. Same as with Finneran, there will be a fee & add ons/sell on etc set by tribunal
  11. Might be the best place for (at least some of) the people who can make decisions to be based if we have a few coming in from abroad? Like the Hungarian keeper etc?
  12. Whist many rightly moaned about Gally being on over £15K/week here, those levels of wages are the minimum starting point for negotiating for "guaranteed & proven" difference makers at this level. £20K-£25K/week is not beyond the normal scope for these sort of players in the Championship. Can Rovers as a club sustain 5 or 6 players on over £20K/week?
  13. He is a very skillful player, but for me his attitude is exactly what Rovers do not need
  14. He lost his way before going to Scotland. Bournemouth loaned him from Norwich when Mowbray was still our manager, he did nothing for them in the championship (in a side that ultimately cruised to second place, so should have been ideal for a luxury player) and was dropped from the squad entirely in the last few games of the season. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/todd-cantwell/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/332341/plus/0?saison=2021&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id= The following season he had a purple patch of about month for Rangers, but has done very little aside from that https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/todd-cantwell/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/332341/plus/0?saison=2022&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=
  15. In mid-March, Beck would return to Liverpool to get treatment for persistent groin injuries which would keep him out of action for the remainder of the season Its the usage of the word "persistent" which worries me
  16. We essentially already play a back 3/5/call it what you will, when in possession If it is one of numerous (5-7) signings to give us options, and a direct understudy/competition for Pickerings role is also brought in, then I am all for it. But that seems unlikely at best, If as suspected, this is one of 3-4 signings, then I worry that Rovers will be caught very short when injuries/suspensions kick in
  17. Beck to me, looks more like a Gent/Brittain than a Pickering. As in far better going forwards than defending. Beck does not look to have the tools to play the "Pickering role" (left back that inverts into left centre back) and neither do any of our current right back options (as in right back that inverts into centre back) So his signing seems a strange (possibly panic) choice, Unless Eustace is going to throw out his way of playing so far, or unless a right back who can play CB, and a left footed centre back are also brought in to enable Rovers to invert how they currently set up. But as we are surely not expecting 3 players to be signed for defensive roles, it seems like a late panic signing, who is, at best, a better version of Gent rather than a genuine option
  18. In a shock twist, they signed this one instead
  19. Cant recall Garrett as either cover (or to send him elsewhere) this window then He went out on loan 03/08/24, so his 28 days isn't up until Saturday, when the window will already be closed Unless maybe the deal was "done" earlier than it was announced I suppose?
  20. Similar to JRC in that he doesn't really have a settled position as of yet, but I would have him pegged as an attacking midfielder/winger rather than a central midfielder (at least not a central midfielder in the double pivot that Rovers play) https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/george-hall/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/871229
  21. Starts for Gamble, Michalski & Montgomery this afternoon
  22. I would say, on balance, much the same at the moment. It is far stronger in every forward area, but left back, midfield and keeper are weaker. centre back is pretty much the same, as is right back (Duru is as of yet unproven at this level, but I do have high hopes) But, at the moment, there are many more (and better) options to chase a goal if needed. Hopefully on Friday night I will be able to say that it is stronger across all areas
