  1. Exactly. The demand for L1 and L2 players is hardly going to be huge in the Belgium, Dutch, Italian leagues etc. I read the other day that James Norwood at Ipswich is on £9k per week. Even if a salary cap is brought in and he had to halve his wage he's never get that anywhere else in Europe.
  2. I'd hazard a guess that a carthorse in L2 gets paid a lot more than a carthorse in the Dutch equivalent.
  3. where will footballers go?
  4. I don't see how clubs can survive without it. It's going to take a few years to be fully effective though so unless clubs get fans through the gates soon they are going to go bust.
  5. Curious. It was reported widely as £8m at the time and Sharpe is still going with that. But if they are the accounts and that isn't a printing error then fair enough.
  6. It is massive. I think Wigan's was about £5m that season and then the next highest was Shrewsbury's at about £2.5m iirc. It would be interesting to see what Wycombe's was this season for comparison.
  7. It's a lot easier with a release clause, which is what the discussion was about. You misunderstood. It's fine.
  8. Again, not relevant to the point. The point is a player wouldn't NOT give himself a way out if he knows bigger clubs with more money are in for him.
  9. That was the pre-tax loss not the wage bill https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11676/11671654/blackburn-report-16-8m-loss-for-league-one-promotion-season Rovers wage bill was £8m https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18636225.salary-caps-introduced-championship-discussions-ongoing/
  10. We were on about from the players point of view, not the clubs.
  11. Yeah, that's what his agent will advise if a Prem club comes in for him?
  12. Why would he tie himself into a long term contract with no release clause when clubs in the league above want him? That would be stupid.
  13. Now, is it an attack-minded player or a defensive one??
  14. £18m wage cap is being discussed for Champ but no vote planned as yet and not going to be in time for the coming season
  15. do you think £10m is a fair price, based on ability contract-situation etc?
  16. L1 & L2 clubs are voting on a wage cap today. Anyone know when the Championship clubs are voting? I've googled but no luck.
  17. Meccy briefly turned up to help run the illustrious Ribchester in the East Lancs League about 20 years ago. Lovely bloke who was always very encouraging to the cart-horses he helped manage! One of the good guys. RIP Stuart.
  18. Flitcroft would have absolutely destroyed Bradley Johnson for being a useless lazy twonk if he played alongside him . That's what we miss. Too many 'good humans' and not enough players with an edge.
