  1. How do yo correctly pronounce his name? I always thought it was Jon Dahl (as in Roald Dahl) Tomasson. Sky seem to pronounce him Jon Dale Tomasson
  2. Thought the Walkersteel Stand was all seater once the old stand was knocked. I see there it was all terrace for a while.
  3. Bobby Mimms. A likeable character but forgotten when Flowers came in and his career was as good as over.
  4. Our form from Feb - mid April was excellent but after that we started getting nervous. I remember we played Leeds at Elland road and were winning 1-0 and let in a last minute equaliser. If we won that there was no catching us. Think that was the start of the rot. Then the infamous Man City at home defeat. I think that was a real indicator of nerves. But then we threw in good win against Palace and Newcastle. I actually saw the whole game at Anfield recently as they were reshowing it on sky. We played quite well looking back at it. The problem was Shearer missing a sitter and Sutton with a Hans Moleman effort in the 2nd half.
  5. I think we would have given United a right fight for it and had Shearer been available after Christmas I think its very possible Walker would have realised his dream immediately.
  6. Tomasson is probably an idealistic coach and those tactics are easier to implement in continental leagues where as English football is more intense and you are not given the time on the ball you would in the likes of Sweden. Its more hussle and bustle. The Championship is not a technical league if you ask me. Its a league where everyone beats everyone and only the most functional teams get promoted and even then those teams are not good. Its a dogfight and you need good characters in your team more so than technical players imo. I think we need a couple of lads over 30 who have been there and done it. Gordon Cowans type players who have been let go by other teams. You're not going to get out of this division with kids.
  7. Chiedozie Ogbene will rip us a new one
  8. With this team if they go one goal down you know its curtains. We just fold. No fight. The signings were not good imo. Too young. He should have a few players who know the league and who have been there and done it. There's no leaders in the team. Nobody to turn to when its going a bit Pete Tong.
  9. Team is too young. Said it before a couple of seasoned double hard bastards in the middle is whats needed to get out of this shithole of a league. Then dispose of them when you get to the Prem.
  10. some more nice old photos of Ewood. Note the old mill behind the Blackburn End and the hill with no trees on it. Edit: The pic with the mill wouldn't post ewood-park-blackburn-eaw639686-1106052.jpg.webp
  11. Traded for the legend Matty Holmes in 95
  12. David Bentley. Got sick of football, retired and owns a pub now I think
  13. Not confident of a win. Might get a point.
  14. Gordon Cowans. A very good player.
  15. Going back to my earlier post about the hill behind the Riverside. Totally different view now than in the past. Got these from Fever Pitch. You cant see the stadium at all now from these vantage points.
  16. Alan Wright. Didnt realise he was still int he squad for 94-95. I thought he had been sold on the previous summer. He played at Old Trafford that season. Cant recall him in any other game
  17. I gave up playing ball at 16 but them Mitre Multiplex were a joke. Always caked in dried mud from the game before and pumped up to the 9s ready to explode. They were rock hard and even painful to kick at times. I used to dread having to head one of them especially at corners. Severe concussion would kick in! Also we used to play in winter so the balls would also be frozen and rock hard. Gettign a slap in the thigh from one would sting for about 10 mins after and leave a big red mark. No doubt I'll get dementia now as a result!
  18. Not sure. Even Alan McAnally on Sky saying how bad we've been
  19. Gary Croft. Forgotten almost signing: Geoff Thomas.
  20. The Riverside used to look much closer to the pitch back then with the old Nuttall St stand camera angle
  21. I remember you could see the whole stadium from the train as you passed by. Can see nowt now.
