Of all the positions,whether it's Ruddy or not, I'd be inclined to give Eustace the last word on the keeper. I don't mind having a bit of a gamble on any other appointment, but it's crucial we get the keeper right,and Eustace is happy with who comes in. As we all know, it's an easy one to get horribly wrong.

Maybe Eustace remembers the players as ones who were in the play off places when he left, rather than ones who went down under Rooney.

Agree completely, most importantly Eustace should be alive to the reasons why we shouldn't sign him, rather than why we should. I've no idea why Eustace would go out on a limb to try to sign an ex player he wasn't sure about.

Did we pay anything for them? Shows what you can get for nowt when you do your homework. It's a two way street as far as I'm concerned, yes you have to trust the recruitment team, but if Eustace has previous knowledge of a player he feels can fill a hole, and is the right price, it would be mad to ignore it.

I didn't "write him off", I said he had a shocker against Watford, which he did. As shaky as Pears sometimes is, I can't remember him costing 3 in one game.

I'd be happier going down the tried and tested route,even if It means signing an "oldie". With having only Pears, it's imperative we get this one right. Keeper is such an easy one to get wrong, you only have to watch the highlights show to realise that. You'd sometimes think Pears is the only dodgy keeper in the league, have a look at Johansson's performance for Stoke against Watford.

I don't think it's that black and white. If you've a head coach who has knowledge within the game,and they all have, it would be detrimental if not mental to completely disregard his input. There is obviously going to be crossover at certain points. The knack would be for both parties to have trust in each other, although you would expect the recruitment team to have the major share.

He may well not be a target anyway.
