  1. At least under Eustace we seem to still be in a game when we go behind, that's a definite improvement on the Tomasson white flag approach. Also, looking at the more positive aspects, we seem better at set pieces at both ends. At the Newcastle game in particular, the defending at set pieces was good, got to admit I was fearing the worst with the size of the Newcastle team and the quality of delivery, but we coped admirably. We've also scored 2 set piece goals already under Eustace.
  2. He was poor today, although you couldn't fault his workrate. He deservedly won man of the match against Stoke and was certainly as good as anyone at Preston, neither of those performances were bafflingly bad. He was also anonymous against Newcastle before he went off. I don't know why fans throw all of a player's performances into one pot, rather than judging them on an individual basis.
  3. Wasn't particularly putting them in position, they're allowed to move around a bit, but Gallagher would certainly be in anyone's 11 obviously
  4. Pears Jrc, Carter, Hyam, Wharton, Pickering Tronstad, Buckley Gallagher, Szmodics, Dolan
  5. Hyam been OK to be fair, but the squad is massively propped up with the players who were already here when Broughton and Tomasson came in. The strongest 11 still would have at least 8 players who they inherited, it's a massive problem.
  6. Hopefully the gravity of the situation may actually sink in a few thick heads, we've been playing as if we were safe for weeks now. Tomasson's smartarsery hasn't helped one bit. I'm thinking we could well see a reaction on Tuesday, one look at the table should be all it needs. We really do need Tronstad back ASAP.
  7. Know exactly what you mean, it is a fine balancing act.
  8. If I wrote down our strongest 11, there would be 8 players in it who were already here when Broughton came, and that's despite Wharton and Travis leaving. The head of non recruitment would be a more apt title.
  9. He rested Hedges against Cardiff and the inevitable happened on Saturday. I'll be there and I'm hoping he goes with a strong team, I'd say getting a good result/performance tomorrow night would be more beneficial going into the Swansea game than resting players and accepting defeat.
  10. Especially the one who said he wouldn't be going on Ewood again as long as Pears was in goal.
  11. You've said this before, but there's no doubt that anyone who clearly isn't in favour of a player on here, is obviously more likely to give the same player stick at the match, it goes without saying. I was just making the point that the Wahlstedt itch has been scratched, for this season at least he isn't really a viable option, unless there's an injury obviously.
  12. I could look back and find as many posts as you'd like asking for Wahlstedt to play in front of Pears, many were not fully behind Pears, Kaminski is history,i don't know why you'd bring him up. I'm thinking of this season, there is now no doubt as to who should be in goal.
  13. Nothing against the lad, it was probably too soon for him, and a bad time to get thrown in. It's maybe a good thing going into the run in, at least fans know that Pears is the better keeper and can get fully behind him.
  14. The calls for Wahlstedt to play on here were deafening up until he got in the team. I haven't read one comment suggesting he should come back in.
  15. It's all about opinions, I was in the JW and first half in particular I thought Brittain was really poor,, he did buck up 2nd half. I wouldn't put Gallagher's 3 chances down to missing, more good goalkeeping. Could he really have done any more with the 2 headers?
  16. Small steps with Eustace by the looks of it. The point at Cardiff maybe showed his nous over Tomasson, to rest 2 players, bring Gallagher off after an hour, give someone his full debut, yet still come away with a draw after the first clean sheet in ages, showed his experience in my opinion. Yesterday wasn't easy on the eye, but coming from behind isn't something we do, another notch for Eustace. Norwich were weak in the air,or was it that Rovers were good in that department? More deliveries please, let's find out.
  17. Said at half time, why aren't we putting more balls in the box, they obviously weren't comfortable, especially against Gallagher. Lo and behold, a cracking delivery from Pickering and towering header from Hyam and we're level. You're spot on about Gallagher, well worthy of man of the match.
  18. Good debate guys, the thing that shouts at you is the reliance that we still have on the players Broughton and Co inherited. The shiny new "recruitment" department needs to get its collective finger out.
  19. It's just my opinion, if anyone thinks we could sell Gallagher for £1-1.5 million, sign his replacement for that money(even if it was used), and on less wages, but also be a better player, I think it's for the birds.
  20. He definitely isn't, very few are, but he's worth a lot more than the £1 million, or even £2 million some wanted to accept.
  21. There's no doubt Tomasson suffered from injuries, especially Dolan and Gallagher(who some wanted to give away for a million). I'm not particularly backing Eustace, or having a go at Tomasson, but we need points, however they come. A decent team tonight would probably have seen us off, but maybe Eustace saw it as a chance to rest 2 or 3 whilst still nicking a point? If that is the case, and it certainly looked that way, it's maybe the Championship nous we've been short of.
  22. You've got to take it in context though, we'd taken 5 points from Tomasson's last 11 games, we've taken 5 points from Eustace's first 4. You have to consider the form and morale of the team when Eustace took over. I enjoyed watching some of the football under Tomasson, but we were going down.
  23. Pears, Carter, JRC, Pickering, Hedges, Gallagher and Dolan. Those 7 are in our best 11 if everyone is fit,i don't think anyone would argue, and that's without Travis or Wharton, who would definitely be playing now. There lies the problem, a shiny new director of football and his large recruitment entourage but we're still so reliant on the players who they inherited. I dread to think where we'd be if they'd started their tenure from a weaker position.
