v Birmingham City (a) - 1/4/23

Yes. We clearly bid for both but Undav turned us down at the last minute and Kone was apparently too expensive on the wages front. Maybe we'll go back in for 1 or both in the summer? We lack quality up top, that much is clear. It is letting the side down. Gally works hard but just has no natural strikers instinct. -

Nailed it, and why we tried to sign 2 quality strikers in January. It's clear the weakest area of the pitch is the top end. We're 14th for goals scored. We've scored the same as Brum who are 16th in the league. -

JDT commented on his training not being up to scratch a few weeks ago. Otherwise, there is a real case for playing him, especially away from home. -

I'll leave you alone. You always make it personal. You can't cope with debate. Have a good evening. -

'Midfield ranks last'. On what metric? Good attackers? Check the goals and assists for our front 4. Quoting what are essentially sitting midfielders for goals/assists when our No.9 gets regularly lambasted cos he can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo is a bit strange. We missed chances again today. It wasn't the midfield missing them. -

He'll still be up on his bets...somehow. -

A team in 6th, by definition, does not have a midfield that has 'let it down all season'. -

We're 6th. Let's not get hysterical. -

Huge opportunity missed given the other results. We're still poor away from home, and equally poor when we go behind. That hasn't changed all season. Norwich is a season-defining game now. -

We're missing Buckley's quality in the middle of the park. -

Watford lost. Cov and Norwich losing at present. Results are going for us. Just need a goal... -

Warnock working his magic Hudds 3 Boro1 -
Is that an evolutionary scale?

We don't know how much of that money would have been available to replace him. We don't know if he was willing to leave, even if we did accept a bid. We don't know if his goals will get us in the play-offs. We don't know if his goals will get us to the Prem and a bounty of £150m.

Bradley Dack - Twist or Stick?
Sweaty Gussets replied to bigbrandjohn's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Still the best finisher in the club, and Rhodes aside, the best of the last 10 years or so. But if he's not first choice in the 10 role are his wages worth it? And will he want to play back-up to Szmodics? -

I think the fact they tried to sign a CB in Jan suggests Ayala is on his way. Like you say, the wages could be better spent elsewhere...like a good striker. -

Where next as Blackburn Rovers face more contract decisions on players | Lancashire Telegraph Good article on the current situation re those who haven't had their contracts extended yet. Dack is an interesting one. High earner so if we trigger his 1-year option it will have to be on the same money. If JDT doesn't see him as a key man then maybe it won't be triggered. Suggestion also Dack's main objective is regular football. If he isn't getting it here he may want to leave. Talks planned for the end of the season. Ayala looks like he possibly might be off. -
I think they messed up by not offering BBD a contract a couple of years ago when he started looking like a footballer. Once he became an International called Diaz it was game over for a Championship club. We now have a new regime in place on the football with a DoF in charge of transfers. The remit (project) now seems to be a bit more focussed than under Swag/Tm/Venus days. GB is doing a great job of signing up the young players at the club. It's what happens from now that matters. BBD, Lenihan, Nyambe and the rest are history as far as transfer fees go. The past doesn't mean we'll never have a functioning transfer policy that puts the club on a sustainable footing.

Sharpe saying another Academy graduate contract extension to be announced before weekend. Possibly JRC

Great news. Injuries have set him back this season again but he's shown himself to be good, solid Championship defender.
