  1. Carvalhal, Currently in Portuguese top flight, so why would he bother, how could we afford? Also more clubs than Tiger Woods, he'd be off in no time. Karanka, please god no, it rhymes with Karanka. Shite. O'Neil - I would be so, so underwhelmed. He doesn't have the experience of doing what we want a manager to do in our position.
  2. I personally think he's sh*te and will be gutted if we appoint him. He's a Sky and TalkSport darling which is why he's always so bigged up in the media. Just read that after his permanent appointment at Bournemouth they went 8 games without a win and then just about stayed up - sh*te. Edit - I think he was a bit unlucky at wolves, not financially backed, best players sold and some crap VAR decisions, but I am still highly unconvinced he knows anything about how to get a Championship club promoted. He was technically on the coaching staff when Bournemouth went up, but that was putting bibs and cones out, not managing.
  3. Because at the time he took the job we were hurtling in one specific direction. When he took over, only Rotherham had conceded more goals than we had and they were relegated by about March, I think we were the only team last season who didn't beat them. There was some poor performances incl Bristol away and Sheff Weds at home, but on the whole him coming in made a big difference, it passed the eye test for me as I was at almost all those matches (Bristol City excepted actually)
  4. I don't think many find Eustace completely innocent in all this, but he only gets about 10% of the blame from me and the other 90% goes squarely on the CEO, COO and the Indian Royal Family. He's annoyed me slightly with his behaviour but it pales in comparison to how angry I feel towards the other parties, it barely registers.
  5. Not advocating for Harris but the "style of play" thing has annoyed the f*** out of me for 15 years. It's why we got rid of Big Sam and partly how we ended up here, boo boys whinging about style of play. If we got someone in for 15 games who played horrendous turgid football and we won 10 of them 1-0 and got 6th place I couldn't care less how they did it.
  6. Sorry if this sounds rude, not wanting to be personal, but why would the club respond to you or any fan who emails them asking for info about first team players and management? No matter how badly we are run?
  7. I think if we were firefighting relegation near the bottom he would be a shrewd appointment but I don't think he's the one to hand a 15-match playoff free hit to.
  8. I think even if Johnson is nominally 'manager' tomorrow, it will be a collaboration between him and senior players including Travis, Batth, Hyam, etc anyway.
  9. I had no idea about these i'll be on Goodreads tonight 😂 In other news if he doesn't win tonight with Blackpool he'll set a club record for home games without victory, Waggott probably left him 50 voicemails already
  10. And now according to Sky Sports Shane Duffy has put Potts on a stretcher 😳
  11. They haven't, it's probably last days of Rome style Chaos at Ewood tonight. They'll probably announce tomorrow as the team boards the bus that it's Johnson
  12. Rabid mutt Osmajic has just put North End 1-0 up at Norwich, who knows, might STILL be in the Playoffs by 10pm 😂 Long way to go...
  13. That would be amazing! No win in his last SIX home games at Bloomfield Road 👏💩
  14. I think some have pointed out either here or in other threads that Cooper probably got a sizeable payout when booted from Leicester. A Premier League payoff is probably more than we would offer in actual wages, and he would probably have to forego it to take up another post, so I can't see him coming to this snake pit for tuppence to reminisce about the O'Brien debacle. So I think we should rule him out, despite him probably being one of the best candidates out of work currently.
  15. We can probably take many of the odds with a pinch of salt for now, it's a small betting market in the grand scheme of things with not much interest, any unusual major movements in prices are often down to small patterns of betting which the industry knee-jerk reacts to, to prevent ITKs rinsing them like those Tory MP staffers did before the election last year. It's all just very uninspiring, and tiring to be here again 12 months on
  16. I couldn't tell you mate but would be interested to go back in time and have a look. I'd guess that the shite ones we have at very short prices were probably a lot longer elsewhere. Just had a look at Derby local paper from last week, they had Richie Wellens (odd!), Edwards, Stevie G, Cooper, Dyche, Martin as front runners in the article. No mention of Eustace, interestingly!
  17. There is no denying that he did well with Luton and that's on his CV and can't take it away from him. They battled bravely but ultimately weren't good enough last season, now this season, despite having the parachute payments, the wheels completely fell off. Which makes me wonder whether his Luton success was a bit of a Coyle-esque fluke... None of the people on our bookies list were the choice for Stoke, Cov or Derby, 3 medium sized championship clubs who recently changed manager and were in much worse positions than us. I wonder why.
  18. Evatt and Lowe both despised by local rival fanbases, so it could be Coyle mark II
  19. On Evatt, I don't think he's anywhere near the ilk. I think if you repeatedly can't get a club the size of Bolton (they are a local rival, but like us, they are a decently sized historic club and are actually trying to bounce back after bad owners) out of the third tier then let's be honest you're not great. He also came out with a very bizarre statement at one point saying something like "we're the best team in this division" and then got hammered at home by Wigan a few days later. No thanks
  20. Looking at that list is horrific. Gary O'Neil, Ryan Lowe, Ian Evatt... Christ. They're not even fit to take the bins out at our historic football club, never mind become the first team manager. This is gonna be an awful end to the season when Waggott auctions the role off to whoever will do it for the lowest salary. There's only two on there even remotely qualified, Cooper who looks like a Dingle and Dyche who IS a Dingle
  21. This was the first time I've listened to the podcast, a good group of hosts, I will listen going forward. Thanks for turning that round so quickly.
  22. Any appointment is going to be fairly underwhelming, I don't need to explain why. There will actually be a lot of pressure to deliver for anyone who comes in as well, because they're going to have to apply on the basis that they're the candidate to keep the team in the top six, it's a strange situation. It's not someone coming into a club in the relegation zone where they just have to stop the flow of goals and make it ugly and nick a few draws to steady the ship, someone is going to have to come in and start winning quickly or it's gonna get even more toxic. Can't say I have any hope, it's going to be a useless, journeyman, has been, venky yes-man...
  23. That's right the overwhelming feeling should be one of total embarrassment. It's what people refer to as 'tinpot'.
  24. Strangely, I don't really care who we appoint now, it doesn't really mean anything this season. The damage has already been done in January and I don't think Klopp could come back to English football and get this squad into the top six, it's paper thin, lightweight and ultimately despite all the commendable effort just won't be good enough. Eustace wasn't going to get us in there and whoever comes in won't either. It's down to poor recruitment and culture. The club is just rotten.
