But since then they've seen Jason Steele, Jake Kean, Walton etc, all who were generally poor at Rovers. Pears i agree is nowhere near as bad as is made out especially given the names above but some of the needless mistakes hes made will stick long in the memory. -

A million quid is nothing for a Championship keeper still in his 20's with his peak years ahead and with 100 plus Championship appearances who on the face of it only lost his place through injury and a gaffer change. -

I think someone said they were just kept on because the lads need someone to stand in the goal in training and occasionally try and save one. -

Fair point although he'd proven himself a lot better previously but i'm sure there are a few out there have seen enough of Pears to think they can do something with him. For the right deal obviously. -
So fans can't have their traditional boxing day fixtures because the big clubs have cried to the EPL bosses about over working their bloated over paid squads. Unless of course the TV selects a few tasty fixture to be played on that day, no questions asked. The Prem is the land of milk and honey and you have to have something to play for but inn reality it stinks.

I said ages ago Pears would be flogged for 1 or 2 million total deal and that's why they persisted with him to get development and value as high as possible as quick as possible. It nearly led to a scrap with a couple on here such is the negative hysteria at times that clouds the reality of stuff. I stand by it in fact i pray for it although big Val keeping Toth in might have hampered it a bit but we live in hope he's proven himself an average now quite experienced English Championship keeper. I'm less confident about what will replace him. -

It isn't standard stuff to have lists of players you know you can't afford or have any real chance or intention of signing. -

All this A.B.C stuff sounds like previous Rovers transfer windows in the office, before they order their curry to celebrate missing all their prime targets ! Head coach - I need players off my list A !! Waggot - Think again son but we might get you one or two off my list B ? Suhail - You two bicker all you like, here's list C they are the only ones we can afford. -

But if they can't use the club as before (ability to write off/move/lose money) due to court cases then option B of a low cost almost self sustaining entity they can virtually ignore - but not have to sell and open the books - might be appealing. -

Something in football governance needs to drastically change in regards to this. As for Rovers now the hierarchy will just see it as another income stream flogging them before they've cost anything really. -

I think they'd prefer to stay at Championship level and will try simply because it adds more value and the execs are on good wages which will no doubt be cut in lge 1. However they absolutely know the pitfalls and know without substantial regular owner money it is inevitable we'll drop we nearly did 2 years ago. So i think those on the ground here are definitely preparing for that kind of future and probably advising the owners 'we'll manage if it happens it's our natural level now just think of the lower cost base and less input needed. We'll grow a team to go back up then consolidate whilst its book value increases, then sell it'. These owners ultimately call the shots but they clearly rely on what gets fed to them from this end. -

'Willing' just like it was said Derby were 'willing' to go to 2 years. Yes it is all in the wording isn't it i'm glad you've finally grasped it. -

I wouldn't worry all indications is he hasn't been offered anything which shows they want to flog him. If/when they do they'll not be offering him more just most likely same wage, 2 years with a year option to which he'll say know if his agent has drummed up some serious interest. Then the fall out will be how much they'll let him go for which might well already be the hold up. -

Last weeks signing will be replacing Dolan on the payroll on low wages and the fee over the course of the contract will amount to no more than about 150k per year which will be covered by Dolans compensation. An easy low cost signing that fits the current model. I never said they'd offered Batth a 2 year contract it's you that has kept parroting that, i told you the quote i read from Nixon said Rovers had offered 1 yr but he wanted 2 and Derby would match that. Nowhere has it been said hes had an official offer just as yesterday YOU said Rovers have offered Travis a contract yet nowhere has that been said that he has. All that has been said is the club are speaking to his reps there is no mention of an actual offer or of him turning it down. It's all in the wording. -
Good potential at Plymouth to build the crowds if they got them going upwards year on year. That's why these investors go for the likes of them plus there is a new story to create with little expectation of past glories because there are non, it's all new and shiny and not poisoned by anything. Besides that they could also play the hedge fund Russian roulette model they do at Burnley were you fill a small ground, keep going up and down and running of big debt then trading players and paying dividends out of the parachute/tv income.

Probably because he is waiting for Rovers to get back to him because staying here is first choice how many times are you going to repeat that same line to try and prove a point ? It proves nothing. How can Rovers set the budget until they know whats happening in India ? -
150th Anniversary kit/celebrations

They brought a book out as well if i remember right ? Be lucky to get a tweet these days. 'A book you say ? Pah we'll only sell enough to cover costs it's not worth it we'll not make any money on it' Present attitude. -
They'll not sack him and if he left we'd probably get the London based finance guy who was appointed to the board rocking up and overseeing matters. I sense he might be behind a lot of the recent cuts on top of the thumbscrews the other two were already operating. Just like the rest of them he'd then spot his own opportunity to ride the gravy train and enjoy all the perks.

And if he'd reduced season tickets to ยฃ150 adults as a one off celebration to the clubs historic birthday he'd have averted a lot of flak even with the mess on the contact situations, comings and goings. We'd be guaranteed 15k+ every home attendance leading to a 17/18k average at least over the season, better atmosphere and bigger takings in all other aspects of the club. A shortfall in ticket income if there actually was any is surely offset by all the transfer income and increase in other revenue. No better time to do it for a number of reasons but instead he chose to cry about losing a few grand due to Steve's ยฃ20 quid discount and the leccy bill going up. Absolute corner shop mentality.

The kit is nice but they usually are however it isn't radical or much of a tribute to anything it's just bog standard stuff. Typical of the lack of real punch in anything they do down there and just smacks of going through the motions again. -

Wrexham have other sources of income like maybe netflix plus their corporate and merchandise sales will be booming, also with demand out stripping supply in terms of seats they probably charge more than us. I'd imagine on the back of all that their advertising income is booming as well, chuck in the fact Travis won't be on big money here so it won't be that difficult to top the wages. He might even settle for less per week if he gets 3 years and a signing on fee or promise of a big performance related rise. -
Hes been no miss at all and i knew he wouldn't be, Yuki is twice the player and even Cantwell who probably took his big wage slot has offered more appearance wise.

If players were tied down the likes of Wrexham and Brum wouldn't be after them because they'd have to pay big money and offer big wages. As it is frees or contracts ticking down coupled with the fact these lads have been on low or modest wages means they are easy pickings. If our lads were on decent contracts then head turning is just head turning it happens all the time and if no big offer comes in they just have to get on with it where they are. Again contracts ticking down or short term deals means the head gets turned and doesn't turn back because they are just watching the clock tick down to better money and more ambition. Ok players will always leave or be sold but here now this club has created a noose for its own neck which means in 90% of cases instead of 50% they'll be off. Still, the middlemen and agents are happy and some would say that's no coincidence either.
