  1. So the club wanted to give season ticket holders extra value for the season tickets but let me understand the corporate entities that feed off football prevented it? Point Proven I think. [also see other thread on Football - A Bit Crap Really]
  2. Firstly let me assure anyone who is in any doubt the term "abroad monkeys" is not racist, nor was it intended as racist. I am not a racist. A monkey is an animal much like a human. In fact 99% human but not quite if you know what I mean... I would almost say analogous to the rovers fans who dont attend the games and those who do. Still I should know better, I've been posting here long enough to know they are soft, sensitive and vindictive people. Still lesson learned.
  3. Now you see thats the wrong attitude. Its highlights for gods sake they should be free. Paying to see again what you have already paid to see. Season Ticket holders should get highlights free. Yes make the abroad monkeys pay....... after all they dont exactly donate as much to the club do they.... and before they go on about thier £1000+ pilgrimages - money to airlines doesn't exactly count.
  4. The 16953 are doing something about it! i.e. turning up. No its the club management who need to address the "missing" fans situation.
  5. I would question the management at the club, the premier league is one of the greatest and easist products in the world to sell. Bolton (attendance) can do it, Charlton can do it (profit). How can they balls it up year after year? Yes Williams is a very nice guy and I'm sure he will be even nicer now that he has his increased pay.... but is it not time to get the proffessionals in? Mark Hughes. Excellant manager. Good job we have a proffesional looking after the playing side of things. It seem appointing managers is the only thing they can do right. There are enough people with enough cash within 50 miles of the club who if targetted correctly would fill Ewood Park 10x over. The current board are out of ideas - the openly admit it - in any other bussiness the share/stake holders would have got rid of them a long time ago. That said Rovers supporters are a realistic bunch, two seasons of misery is not good enough and fans voted with thier feet. Rightly so I think. I agree give the people what they want i.e Blackburn wins and the attendance will stabilise at 18-20K.
  6. Excellant Article, well spotted. I think Rovers fans are leading the way on this front (despite the fact I hate that people are giving up their season tickets) - I think we are more realistic than the city minded suporter. "The trouble is, there are just seven clubs in the country owned by supporters' trusts - while only 23 trusts have elected directors on the board. Mutual trusts need to become the norm, not the exception, and that needs fans to get stuck in. Another problem is that supporters remain stunningly insular. When it's your club being dragged over the coals, you fight tooth and nail. When it's the club up the road, you merely shrug your shoulders. Most fans were rightly appalled by how the FA allowed Wimbledon move to Milton Keynes - but how many protested?" Agree entirely. We are apathetic beyond belief. How many people will boycott Old Trafford, Stamford bridge and Highbury with me this season.... oh thats right I'm just saying that because im a part time supporter... real fans go to every game! [ouch the propaganda works] A question for another day is do we want to run Blackburn Rovers as a supporters trust given that the current trust in my opinion bring more to the party than we ever could.
  7. Yes suspended from all football until the completion of three first team games [Fa website].
  8. 4-5-1 I bet you and we will win with it. MGP far post tap in. Expect the same formation on off till christmas when it will come in full time out of necessity. Roll on 2006/7..... Thats sarchasim by the way, I dont make snap judgements after one game! After all who many of you doomsday proffessers think West Ham will make Champions league??? Exactly you Numpties!
  9. On a free ticket, with free lunch and booze. Who wouldn't???? Oh yeah I forget the Walkers. They pay the equivelent of 5000 fans through the door every game and you bothered cause they dont turn up? When I'm dead my family wont be coming down to Ewood Park just cuase I did and unlike the Walkers they wont be buying my season ticket just so the club gets some cash. It's my hobby not thiers. They have thier own lives unlike some people.....
  10. The first game of the season is rarely the greatest indicator of how the season will go (thats why no-one bothers with the table for a few weeks. No-one predicted we would go all season unbeaten - perhaps West Ham will be a surprise package. One thing is for sure we will lose when we shouldn't and win when we shouldn't thats just Rovers. As for the players who let us down today - we dont have consistant performers, thats for sure - Which Rovers will turn up? Thats a big fix. The game was lost in midfield today, they were all useless. In Mark Hughes however there will be a gutted man - but I bet he knows where the mistakes were and who did not do there job. As for relegation dont be silly - we can revert to the 4-5-1 formation and bore draw our way to survival!! With the games thick and fast - get over this quickly!
  11. Well hasn't this thread turned nasty the old guard attacking new posters, memebers calling each other names and then someone has bring Egil into it.... truely low. I think most people can agree Matt Jansens time at Blackburn has been mixed. He has gone through promotions, relegations and cup finals but something everyone can agree on is that Matt Jansen has sent you back to the pub/home after at least one game thinking 'that kid is something special' Will he do it again? Who knows how long is a piece of string, one things for certain Matt Jansen will always be a hero to some people and attacking them for supporting him is stupid. Good luck Matt. Lets face it if Jansen does well then so will Rovers so stop biccering get behind our first summer signing - 'Matt Jansen'.
  12. Manchester City:- They have maintained their premier league status a season longer than I would have like to have seen. Not only that I would like to see them go bankrupt too. Mainly cause their 'sainted' fans were not bothered who they punched (women and children) as they left the Maine road and in the corresponding home game they quite simply capped off one of the worst seasons I have been a Rovers supporter with their 'celebrations' at Ewood park. Not to mention the fact that their team colours look gay.
  13. What music? The teams come out to music? I really should get to the ground before K.O. AS you can see I dont care about the "turnstile" music as when I get in for some strange reason the players are all in the process of shaking each others hands to the fair play anthem???? which I also dont really have an opinion on. Yeah so what was the point of my post?
  14. Every year they leave it to the last minute. I cant help but feel season ticket sales, marketing and distribution are shambolic at Rovers. Is it good leaving your CUSTOMERS wondering if they are going to get thier product in time? NO. They have a new card system is it too much to be able to cancel all the cards and then reactivate the cards of people that renew? Save a fortune in cards and postage. Yes some clumsy and foolish people would require new ones but not that many. The fact Bolton have grown their fan base and revenue on the edge of Manchester where you could argue competition is harder says it all to me.... We have a low cost premier league product marketed by amateurs - time for a change I think..... And don’t give me any crap about having so many tickets to sell and distribute in such a short space of time... its hardly a U2 concert is it?
  15. Look a lot of these so called pundits are just after a reaction to get people like you and me to visit there crappy little websites and rant and rave at their biased comments...... If u read these articles, firstly your encouraging them, secondly for gods sake don’t let it bother you..... we can all write tripe to wind up other fans. I can set up a website tomorrow and have fans ranting and raving at my articles.... who are these people ever heard of them? Exactly. Its opinion (and like it or not everyone has got one) not fact.
  16. Its a bet for a reason there has to be some risk otherwise it wouldn't be a bet. However the risk here is minimal. Christmas hits and wigan are 10 points adrift at bottom of the league. Rovers visit around that time and put 5 past them to go 6th in the table [10 games unbeaten]. Average gate next season 23,041 Rovers and 19,456 Wigan so why not put a bet on that and make some real money instead whining about wether Wigan will have a bigger crowd than us - dont make me laugh! Hmmm.. my mate bet me a £1000 the sun wont come up tomorrow should I take it everyone?
  17. If the small clubs hold thier nerve a little bit longer this bubble will burst. Good job football fans have loyality to exploit. Can you imagine if Tesco was 100% more expensive than Sainsbury's? I know who would get more customers. Good entertainment, family atmosphere and low price Premier League football - With the right marketing.....
  18. I urge caution football is a fickle thing, Souness was a bad appointment then Souness was a genius, then Souness is useless..... I am extremely impressed with Mark Hughes to date and although I will call my time as a Rovers fan under his tenure more of an endurance than a pleasure, I realize now that we had to suffer to stabilize the club. I hear the positive words coming out of the dressing room and I'm looking forward to next season in the expectation Hughes is a man of his word (the transfers would suggest he is). As for passing judgment, that’s for history and folklore to decide long after Hughes has gone.
  19. Amazing.. when you look at it that way! However Football economics are notoriously fickle. Cost of dropping out of the premier league 20M so if you remove Cole's goals and recalculate the league table... which I can't be bothered to do - was it worth it? Of course even with that said if Cole wasn't in the team another Striker would have been and may have scored. So much for if's and but's.... So even if Bellamy gets 30 goals this season - it is highly likley that each one will cost in excess of £150K - Ouch! - Football is crazy!!!!!!
  20. Well just yesterday I questioned the ambition of the board.... I apologise, unreservedly. This is a 15M+ layout over 4 years. A gamble? Oh Yes, but that’s what sports all about. I'm not content to sit back and just take a point here and there and scrape "survival" and call that a successful season - I cant celebrate NOT been relegated (despite how important this is). I want to beat teams; I want to jump up and down when we score goals - Now at least we have the potential.... extremely pleased with this acquisition.
  21. Souness will last less than 15 games next season, anyone else like to offer the number of games he will last...... anyone think it will be the full 38?
  22. Normal distribution with a baby boom bump..... The fact its skewed to 90's plus probabaly reflects bullitien board posters ages better than Rovers fans as a whole.
  23. Yet he played him over Gally, Jansen, Johnson, Derbyshire.... Hughes needs cash, thats why he's selling Stead.... end of story. 323633[/snapback] Opps wrong quote, sorry was intended for Tony Diamond Inc. I really should preview my posts.
