  1. Some interesting names in the Brighton team. Napier and Beamish later to play for Rovers, Irvine ex Dingle hero, Bromley ex Bolton. I remember seeing Norman Gall fighting with Rochdale’s Bert Lister going over the low boundary wall at Spotland and the fight carrying on in the crowd. Both got sent off when red cards were extremely rare.
  2. They had the “ passing it out from the back “ off really well. Good movement and quick, crisp passing. Having said that the only time it really came unstuck WBA scored from it. This was against a rough and tumble WBA that tried to bully the kids that Sunderland had out. Youngest starting 11 in the league yesterday. Credit were credit is due. If we played either of those two tomorrow. Sunderland would out football us and WBA would bully us out of it.
  3. There’ll be trouble you can put your house on that this time. The late KO has made sure of that. I hope Lancashire’s finest are there in numbers along with the horses and dogs.
  4. Geldhardt didn’t do much yesterday but he’s not a central striker and that’s were he was having to play. Diallo, in and out but obviously a classy player. A bit like the kid Elliot we loaned. Clarkson M O M yesterday for Aberdeen against Rangers yesterday. Not the first time he’s been M O M either. He’s thriving up there, I thought he’d struggle.
  5. I watched them yesterday. I was really impressed. Their passing and movement was excellent. All they were missing was the central striker who’s out injured. The lad we were after that eventually signed for them ( Geldhardt ? ) ran around a lot but he’s not a central striker, more like Szmodics. After criticising Mowbray for years I’m starting to think it was the players all along.
  6. Leighton Clarkson MOM in todays 2-0 win for Aberdeen v Rangers. Markanday didn’t get a kick as usual. Incidentally Aberdeen won 2-0 with 25% of possession.
  7. Rothwell got dragged off at half time today.
  8. Johnny Preston - Running Bear
  9. Managers come and go, players come and go, but one thing never changes. You’ve got it in one.
  10. That thought went through my mind when I watched todays game.
  11. Yeah and O’Nien watched his wife give birth at 1.00am this morning. Shot over to the team hotel for a few hours kip. Played a full game at 12.00 and was outstanding at the back for Sunderland. Our players need a week off after their wives have given birth ! It’s all about having the right attitude and that’s why we’ll never win anything.
  12. That’s a shame, he definitely needed Travis to leave one on him.
  13. Rooney was a massive Everton fan - until Utd came calling.
  14. It’s been a long season with lots of games coming thick and fast now. Lots of very tired players. The dingles had the foresight and the dosh to buy two teams with this part of the season in mind. There was a point in the autumn when I thought “ how many wingers does Kompany actually want ? “ but they’ll come in handy now.
  15. Just watching the WBA v Sunderland game. Never a pen in a million years. The crowd and the WBA players gave that decision.
  16. It’s pretty obvious going 5 at the back means those 5 will be strung out along the back line. So it’s also obvious where on the pitch we’ll be playing. The other option would have been to trust your players, stay 4 v 4 and mark up. Once you have 5 defenders with 2 defensive midfielders plus Wharton clearly you’re going to spend must of the game in your defensive third. I did wonder wether if we’d have able to bring on Ayala instead of Wharton his experience would have made the difference but unfortunately he’s made of papier mache.
  17. Luck doesn’t come into it when you have the chance to kill the game and you don’t take it. That’s not bad luck, it’s poor game management. Morton lying down in the game at Sheffield. Brererton going off side in the game with Coventry. Hedges not taking it into the corner flag yesterday. None of those incidents were bad luck, just poor decision making. Derbyshire made a similarly costly mistake years ago and never played for the first team again.
  18. I’m sorry but our inability to see the last two games over the line has done for us regarding the play-offs. Just Tuesday’s Cup Final to play for now.
  19. The Box Tops - Cry Like A Baby That was me tonight !
  20. ? And The Mysterians - 96 Tears Garage band classic
  21. Yeah, I forgot about the postcards. Great view of the old Riverside stand.
  22. Chuck Willis - Hang Up My Rock n Roll Shoes
  23. I think he’s going to have to play there wether he likes it or not in the absence of Gallagher.
  24. They might have still sent the keeper up or they may not have done. At least you’re asking them a question, to come up with an answer.
