  1. Having to chuck Vale on when Gally runs out of steam must be pissing him off.
  2. In theory working for extremely rich owners may appear attractive. The reality is another thing entirely as we all know by now. If it was me personally, and putting my Rovers allegiance to one side, I’d be off as soon as I could find something better.
  3. Looking at that pitch last night - what would Ewood have been like with that rain ? The quality of what you’re playing on makes a massive difference. It’s the difference between playing one touch football in areas and having to take an extra touch just to be sure the ball is where you want it to be.
  4. I thought he was good in that last 20 minutes when we were under the cosh. Played a real captains role, not losing his cool, leading by example. On another point entirely. How come their player stayed on the pitch when he kicked out at one of our players ? Buckley got a red card for bouncing the ball on somebodies head !
  5. Yep, he’s gone. Nothing is forever. He’ll be costing them a few quid also. M’learned friends bills don’t come cheap.
  6. He got crocked making a brilliant tackle out by the touch line. Just a shame as he was going so well. I’d be surprised if he plays at the weekend.
  7. They wouldn’t have lived with us last night.
  8. You should certainly be maintaining a running short list of possible candidates.
  9. Just thinking back - one of the highlights for me . That long raking ball from the right hand side of our defence ( Carter ? ) over to Dolan on the far right hand side of their half. Dolan had it under his spell in an instant and was on the run all in the same movement on a very slick pitch. Not easy to do. Class from both young players. I thought Carter hardly put a foot wrong last night.
  10. It’s bound to happen if he makes a silk purse out of the sow’s ear that was Rovers. We’ll need to have a successful end to the season first though.
  11. I’d forgotten Vardy was playing in the second half. I thought he’d been subbed off.
  12. What after the way we played last night ?
  13. Sorry I didn’t realise it was March the first today ! Am I too late ? Edit - Just ordered one anyway. Hope I wasn’t too late.
  14. It was like playing with ten. I’ve seen more energetic performances back in the pre substitute days when injured players were told ” no you can’t come off, go up front and do what you can “.
  15. I understand the reasons for the “ passing out from the back “ strategy and it worked well for us last night on a fast pitch made for passing. You create space further up the pitch by drawing the opposition deep into your half. It didn’t work too well for Leicester on the same pitch though.
  16. We missed JRC badly last night when he went off.
  17. It’d be hard to play like we did last night on the Ewood pitch. Especially if it’s dry.
  18. I only watched on tv but the pitch looked to be in perfect condition and it also looked to be pretty big. Where does their new pitch stand in the table of pitch sizes ? As you said earlier the wet conditions made for a fast paced game with some slick passing. I used to love conditions like that.
  19. There wasn’t much to criticise apart from our finishing. I’m still expecting Hedges to burst the net in my mind with the one he missed. The game should have been done and dusted before they scored. We were slow to reorganise when JRC had to go off. Barnes had hardly been in the game until then. When they scored their goal he’d a whole quarter of the pitch to run into. Where Brittain was then is a bit of a mystery. After that they kept shovelling the ball out to their left and we didn’t come up with a way to stop this happening. We know Gally only has 75 minutes in the tank. With a bit of luck BBD will be able to come on when he has to go off again.
  20. I’m with you on the Morton story. I’ve been a big critic previously, his sloppy play has cost us some goals in the past, but last night I thought he did more than ok until he ran out of legs. Where he plays on the pitch is crucial to the “ playing out from the back “ style we adopted again last night. This was especially so in the first half. You are going to get a lot of the ball in that position and not every pass will reach it’s target. As I say he ran out of legs midway through the second half and he should have been subbed 5 minutes earlier. When your legs go it’s partially because your brain has gone as well. When you get mentally tired you need that extra second to shape a pass and in games like last night that extra second isn’t there. In summing up I thought he played his part last night.
  21. Jackie DeShannon - When You Walk In The Room
  22. He reminded me of when we played United at Ewood and we went down to ten men with about 12 minutes to go. Souey sent Blake on with the obvious instructions to run his bollocks off for 12 minutes. Chase every long ball down, work their back four etc. Blake did the square root of nothing and we were under a siege right until the end. i think Blake was on his way shortly after that. If you can’t run around for twenty minutes at the end of a game like that you’re not my idea of a footballer.
