  1. I don’t think getting to a pretty low level final was the rationale behind us fielding such a strong team. I think JDT likes to keep the players on their toes fitness wise. We’ll see how far it gets us soon enough.
  2. Major Lance - The Monkey Time
  3. That’s Forest’s problem not ours. It’s not like they’re stuck for options is it ? We need to keep the “ fringe “ players at Ewood match fit and ready to go.
  4. Funnily enough I saw them both together at Oldham before they moved on. Ken to Preston and Alan to Rovers. Wasn’t Bobby Bell signed to replace Hunter ? Best bit of business we ever did. Signed for £20k and sold for £55k a week or two later !
  5. When you’ve examined all the other options and ruled them out, what are you left with ?
  6. Ken Knighton, top player. I wish we had him for Saturday.
  7. That’s a mind boggling amount, even to very, very rich people. What goes on in their heads ?
  8. Little Jimmy Dickens - May The Birds Of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose
  9. The Donays - Devil In His Heart
  10. The Elgins - Put Yourself In My Place
  11. Other players were wary regarding going into a challenge with him.
  12. I used to have that on the original “ London “ label. It’d be worth a few quid now. Back to the quiz - The Electric Prunes - Get Me To The World On Time
  13. I’m surprised he lasted so long.
  14. I was thinking more against the better teams we’ll soon be playing.
  15. You’d think that Travis would drop back into that temporary position rather than Carter moving over. It leaves us 3 at the back on occasions.
  16. He played the whole 90 mins yesterday, not his usual 70 minutes. Maybe his fitness is improving after all the injuries ?
  17. One thing about playing your rivals - all the games are 6 pointers. Win and as well as doing yourself a favour you do them down. If we do make the play offs these are the teams we’ll be playing. We might as well get used to beating them now.
  18. Terry Paine surprised me but this guy knew what he was talking about. Osgood didn’t surprise me. He was another like Giles who got a bad injury early in his career and made sure he didn’t get another one.
  19. I was at a game at Burnden Park years ago. There was a bloody great clock on front of the main stand. About 15 minutes before the end of the game the ref blew for time ! Everybody went off and the fans started to leave. We could see the clock and we couldn’t figure out why the players had gone off so we hung around. After about 5 to 10 minutes the players came rushing back onto the pitch. Some were putting their kit back on and some looked like they’d just got out of the shower. We we’re losing 2-1 at that point and the score stayed that way unfortunately.
  20. No, that’s a new one on me.
  21. Was the keeper who got carded the same one that did the double save against us in the cup ?
  22. I watch rugby league and the time keeping is a doddle. Both teams have an official timekeeper and they do it together. The ref signals to stop the clock and start the clock. No arguments about how long was to be played. They blow the hooter and game is over the next time the ball goes dead. Of course you can see teams score after the hooter sounds but not often.
  23. Nah, he could give a kick but he could take a kick as well. The really dirty ones were the sly ones. I remember reading an autobiography of a famous player in Nobby’s era. The five forwards who he said were the really dirty gits - Terry Paine, Roy Vernon, Peter Osgood, Johnny Giles, Johnny Morrisey. How many of those would you have down ?
