I look at like this - if Rotherham can score two, so can we.

Championship - 22-23

Especially against ten men. You’re bound to get a couple of chances in that amount of time. Wether you take them or not is another story. -
I remember that, the Germans couldn’t handle him at all. He was too quick.

Am I alone in getting worried about JDT ? Anybody can make a mistake but to keep making the same mistakes is becoming a problem. He doesn’t seem to be learning. Ideally we’d like to play with two strikers but if we haven’t got two good enough we have to play with one and pack the midfield. No point persisting with Vale or Hirst in Gally’s abscence when we could have Brererton up front ( not his best position I know ) and Dack in a five man midfield. We could then play with a conventional back four. I’m not a fan of wing backs. At our level they are rarely good at both aspects of the game and some of them are good at neither. Edun for example. They are just blunt instruments out wide.

Could he have done any worse than Travis at right back last night ? -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach

Nothing he did last night helped us win that game. Lost in team selection and not for the first time this season. -
I liked Howard, on his day he was class. When he first broke through at Liverpool I thought he was going to go right to the top.

It’s not just one performance though is it ? It’s just the latest in a succession of dog shite performances against very average teams were we have looked totally disinterested. I don’t expect us to win every game but I expect a performance every game. I would like to see us come back from going behind just once in a while. Play like we have done recently away from home at the Dingle dome and it could be a repeat of the 5-0 only the other way around.

He moves it quick because he knows what he’s going to do with the ball before he gets it. You can’t train that into players. -

That was a great pass for the goal. He gave everybody the “eyes “ then played the ball through in exactly the right place at exactly the right pace. The thing I like about him is he knows what pass he’s going to make before he gets the ball. -

Keith Newton played in the 1970 World Cup. He was part of the best England team I ever saw. -

That’s usually the case. Whoever dominates midfield gets the the upper hand. Same in Rugby League - if your pack gets on top you normally win the game. -
We’ve got the best keeper, the best centre halves, and the best striker. If those lads do their job we should be ok.

I agree, it’s the only way. But don’t do what they did a few years ago when Oojer had just joined us. They penalised him for holding on and then proceeded to ignore every other incident for the rest of the season. I supposed the ref had ticked the box.

I’m a lot more confident we’ll get a performance now than I would have been a year ago under Mowbray. Obviously we were starting from a low base then.
