It wasn’t as easy as the one he missed at Swansea ! -

We’ve stopped making chances to score. I reckon we had two decent chances last night. Buckley’s and Rothwell’s , other than that it was all huff and puff. Our set pieces bring us nothing. We never look like scoring from free kicks and we’re not much better from corners. They took a corner from their right and deliberately over played it to a guy coming in from wide out left. He totally was unmarked and got onto the ball. The next corner from that side they did exactly the same thing and he was still totally un-marked ! -

That’s what their keeper had anticipated he do so he’d dived to cover that side. -

I might have to call it a day then Gav. That wouldn’t be like the Coyle appointment, when I did temporarily call it a day, but it’s pretty bad. We’ve seen what he can do and it’s not good enough for Blackburn Rovers even if it’s good enough for the Chicken Chokers. -

As we’ve discussed in another thread - he never managed to get his body into position for that sort of shot. -

It’s hard to say. What I do know is every team we play from now on will be letting our centre halves have the ball and then dropping back to deny us the space up front to play in. We need to work out a plan to deal with that. -

I thought he had a good twenty minutes after the sending off but other than that he was pretty quiet. He only plays in brief flashes. Also I thought he was playing too deep. -

Look at Garner’s involvement last night and look at Rothwell’s. And to think we nearly signed Garner on loan a year or two ago. -

Yes you’re right. It’s harder than it looks to get onto a ball that’s played into you from that angle from behind. If a toe poke is good enough finish for Romario it’s good enough for me. -

He shouldn’t be playing anywhere near the goals, it’s not his game. -

Yes, a good point although I was less than impressed with the “ tackle “ for the pen. It was only going to have one outcome. He should have let the guy go and relied on his team mates and luck. The guy he brought down didn’t look like a finisher to me. -

Yeah whoever thought he was better than Nyambe needs to think again. Pure supposition on my part but I think that clash with Davies and Zeefuik would have ended differently if it would have been Davies and Nyambe. -

I don’t think we’ve got the players for that. For the majority of them it’s not in their mentality. -

Brererton had a chance to get a tackle in during that incident but he did his best not to. Three players all drawn to the ball, what were we thinking. ? -

What annoyed me was the sentiment that “ We don’t play like that anymore so we don’t need a central striker “. Anybody who thought that our opponents would let us play the way we want until the end of the season needs to think again. That was never going to happen and we should have been preparing for plan B. -

Dolan put a great cross in that Gallagher should have done better with. -

If you go on other teams message boards you’ll see that it’s becoming a real problem everywhere. It seems to have got a lot worse since the lock down. -

I don’t rate Khadra. A lot of tearing around but nothing at the end of it. -

Thanks as always Tony. That was hard to read. Nobody came out of that with much credit apart from Dolan. I think you should revert to calling Diaz by his original name of Brererton until further notice. -

I think the lad would have got a second yellow card no matter what Lenihan did.. His foot was chest high. It was really embarrassing to see Lenihan make a meal of it though. I’d have a panel that reviewed all footage of games. In the event of faking an injury like that I’d suspend the player involved for a couple of games. You’d soon stop it then. -

Buckley needs to play in midfield not up the front. -

We got beat by a good team, it happens. They moved the ball well and looked much more incisive in their passing and movement off the ball. They had a centre forward who played like a centre forward. How many of our strikers would have still been on their feet after that series of challenges he rode ? I thought the ref didn’t give us much but Lenihan proved to be a liability again. You’re the captain and you’re already on a yellow card - you must stay on your feet and not go diving in on the half way line. I thought Dolan looked lively when he came on, I’d drop Buckley and play him in Buckley’s place on Monday. Khadra is just a runner, there’s no end product. We lost our shape completely at the end, just throwing forwards on is amateur hour stuff. Nyambe should have come on for Zefuik. Van Hecke was terrible for the pen, he should have let the lad go, cover was coming across and the lad could have easily missed that chance. Rothwell perked up towards the end but he was missing for most of the game. Brererton was back being Brererton, the two long shots he had - the goalie just threw his cap on them. All in all the bad run continues - time for plan B I think.
