  1. Nothing to do with football but I was just reading todays birthdays in the paper. Grace Slick, lead singer of the Jefferson Airplane and a real pin up in her day, is 83 today ! Where did the years go ?
  2. Yeah he was what I call an “ economical “ player. Everything he did was calm and measured, he was a really thoughtful player, nothing was rushed. Wasn’t he the last player to score by charging the goalkeeper back over the goal line ?
  3. I remember him making his debut for us in a 0-0 draw with Norwich. Kevin Keelan had a blinder in goal for them. Don was a very classy footballer who could play almost anywhere on the pitch. He wasn’t really a No 9 though.
  4. You’ve got to get in and around the penalty spot and nearer if possible as much as you can. It’s not easy when you’re playing out on the wing.
  5. We played Phillips at first because we had to. There was nobody else.
  6. Great stuff. Good to see film of the Don. Ronnie Blair, who scored the Oldham goal, was the husband of one of my wife’s teaching colleagues.
  7. Some of our players seem to be having goes and turns at the treatment table. As soon as we get one or two back we get a couple more crying off. Maybe we’re working too hard at catching up on the training given JDT late appointment, maybe the games are just coming too thick and fast ?
  8. The Rovers young ones against Burnley’s dads army.
  9. I agree about the injuries. A week or two back we were celebrating only having one player having treatment, Barnes I think it was. That lasted for about 10 seconds. Next thing you know Ayala and Brittain were out.
  10. It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on. This seasons Forest ?
  11. Gallagher is ok on uncontested headers. Contested headers can go anywhere.
  12. It’s hard one to call. Will it be the Dingle experience or the Rovers youth that prevails ? I can honestly paint a picture were we win. Kaminsky and the centre halves play like Trojans under plenty of pressure allowing BBD to race away to bang in the winner. We definitely do better when the opposition have more of the ball.
  13. Brererton was a once in a lifetime occurrence.
  14. Tell us about season tickets again Matty. Somebody might have missed the other hundred posts you’ve made on the subject.
  15. Hanley always had crucial mistake in him. He’s no smarter now than he was when he was with Rovers.
  16. It’s more of a shit league this season than ever. Given a fair a wind we should be able to do something this time.
  17. I take it one of them was the pen. So 1 out of 16.
  18. There’s no data analysis that can tell you what’s going on in a players head. Matty got back to bodily fitness but the voices in his head held him back.
  19. Hargreaves was a big loss.
  20. Just one of a long list of “ opportunities missed “.
  21. There’s a world of difference between winning an headed contest were the ball goes anywhere and winning an heading duel were the ball goes where you want it to go. Gally might win a few of the former but not many of the latter.
  22. Wasn’t Markanday missing through injury at the weekend ?
  23. I wouldn’t expect Phillips to ready to hold down a first team place at his age. Centre halves need maturity more than most other positions and that only comes with time. How many other 18 year old centre halves are there playing regular first team games in the football league ?
  24. I remember getting a programme years ago were Alan Shearer was bigging up Marlon Broomes as the next Bobby Moore. It didn’t work out that way. Maybe he never saw Bobby Moore play.
