  1. I don't know about that but I could see them finishing higher up in the league than us, even with our 7 point start.
  2. Those of us old enough to remember had a great time " looking up rather than down " when we won the Prem. As a result of only looking at what was going right and ignoring what could have been Improved upon, from a position of terrific strength, we began the gradual decent that ended in relegation. One of my managers favourite sayings was " Never mind what's going right, that'll take care of itself, today we work on what's going wrong ".
  3. He'll have time to bring a couple of players in also.
  4. I'd swap Mowbray for Hughton tomorrow. The Forest game has just got a whole lot more difficult. It's just gone from Wycombe Mk2 to Cardiff Mk2.
  5. He'd have to improve as a defender 100%. However if you're the sort of football manager that thinks John Stones is the answer at centre back you may well be right.
  6. I agree that he's got to be handled with care until he's physically capable of playing 90 minutes regularly.
  7. You've got to be making more than one good chance per game if you've got the likes of Gallagher, Brererton and Rothwell getting on the end of them.
  8. I think he has a big future also. Especially in todays football were the ability to pass the ball accurately is becoming all important.
  9. There's a reason why crossing the ball has gone out of fashion. It's seen as something of a lottery and therefore wasteful by the " Keep Ball " lovers of possession based football. What I meant by alehouse football was the long ball down the middle type tactics. They have their place if you have the players to exploit it.
  10. That " Three Billboards Outside Ebbing " is on again soon. That's well worth watching.
  11. He's a much of a one as Brererton is, with added goals.
  12. Yes I agree, sometimes you have to play a bit of alehouse style football if the passing game isn't getting you anywhere.
  13. That's a good point. Having said that under those conditions even the footballing teams aren't going to chance playing it out from the back. Maybe we should have expected the game to go that way and made plans to get at them more directly.
  14. You need players in certain areas of the pitch irrespective of Cardiff only having one striker.
  15. I don't really see why not. He can do everything that Brererton does and more.
  16. In Brererton's place. He's bound to contribute more. He might even have the odd shot at scoring a goal.
  17. I'm surprised we didn't go to a more aggressive approach once it was still 0-0 after an hour or so, especially after the red card. Dolan and Chapman on the wings and Gallagher or Brererton up front along side Armstrong. A sort of 3-3-4 line up. Lets face it, they didn't have much going on up front for us to worry about. I just think Mowbray is too cautious at times like this. Armstrong isn't physical enough to be the focal point of the attack in games were the opposition shut up shop and are happy to defend their penalty area for long periods of time. When teams are trying to match us on football terms that's not too obvious but on days like yesterday it's pretty clear. David Speedie or Paul Dickov he isn't. We needed a plan B. Just hoping for a lucky bounce of the ball in a packed penalty area isn't a plan.
