  1. You can add the Sunderland goalkeeper that we were " tracking " for months that ended up going to Rangers or Celtic, I forget which one now. There's a bit in my paper today - " Arsenal have signed the Iceland goalkeeper Alex Runnarson for £1.8M. Arteta may add yet another goalkeeper to his ranks and Brentford have turned down multiple bids for the highly rated David Raya. Arsenal's third choice, Matt Macey wants to pursue first team football elsewhere. " Not so highly rated at Ewood Park by some though.
  2. Best pass I ever saw at Ewood in recent times - From just outside the right hand corner of our penalty box a ball like an arrow right into MGP's stride out on the left wing almost on the edge of our opponents penalty box. The passer - step forward Aaron Mokoena. That cross from Kuqi out on the touchline right onto MGP's foot for that volleyed goal wasn't bad either. Regarding Buckley, good players can always turn away from trouble into space. Ordinary players turn into trouble lots of the time. Simon Barker wasn't the quickest but he was brilliant at turning away from trouble and into space.
  3. I went to both of those games. It was 2-2 away at Derby. I must have got a really early bus from Rochdale to get to Blackburn to get the coach. Me and another Rochdale lad who later emigrated to New Zealand - Alec Becconsall.
  4. Yeah Andy Burgin, we got him from Halifax for a handful of magic beans and a toilet seat. Twice the left back that Bell will ever be. Mick Heaton on the other flank, a free transfer from Sheff Utd !
  5. That's when you earn your corn as a winger. You have to keep wanting the ball, even really good players make mistakes and when they do you need to be ready to take advantage. I don't get the feeling he's the sort of player that would go into his shell though
  6. You only find out if they're good enough to play at a higher level by playing them at that level. Playing with better players can improve a young players game a lot in some instances as we're seeing with Dolan.
  7. Like that right back we had on loan from Chelsea a few years ago. He must have been loaned out to half the football league by now.
  8. That quote seems to have missed out " Rhodes ". I need a new lap top. This one has a mind of it's own.
  9. That's what should have happened when Rhodes was sold but that money seemed to vanish.
  10. I know it gets quiet on transfer front here from time to time but we've never got to the point were we are reduced to discussing who wore what number of shirt 60 years ago.
  11. In the old days that's were Brererton would have probably played. He's not a central striker and he's not a winger.
  12. I hope the lad gets back soon, he looked to be in with a chance of breaking through to the first team on a more regular basis this season.
  13. He was a very good player. It'd be nice to have him in the side these days.
  14. Once you go a goal down early on you have a decision to make. Carry on with parking the bus and hoping you nick a goal. Or get rid of the bus and try to play a more expansive game. Wycombe made the mistake of trying to go down the " more expansive " route without having the players to pull it off.
  15. Given the circumstances I'll buy that explanation. It hasn't been just an 11 man game for a while now, you need options in your squad. I doubt wether Nyambe sees it like that though. I'm expecting Nyambe to be back for the game at Derby though.
  16. Yes I agree, the Rovers of old would like nothing more than to kick start Derby's season.
  17. Armstrong had one of those days you dream about as a striker. He could run faster backwards than the two guys he was up against. It won't be like that every week.
  18. If we were playing Wycombe every week we'd be OK , but we aren't.
  19. Glen Hoddle style pass from Buckley for Armstrong's hat trick goal. It had a message on it that said " Here, put this in the back of the net ". He's got that ability to get his head up early on and he knows where he's going to pass the ball before gets it. One for the future for me. I was expecting Armstrong to go around the keeper for what ought to have been his fourth. That score's put a smile on my face. They were like a pub team at times but we've struggled to beat pub teams in the past. Bring on the Rams.
