I agree, we're desperately sort of aggression in the team. -

Is he the only likely looking left back in the whole of Western Europe ? Surely there must be other players out there ? I suppose he could keep Dack company on the road back to full fitness. Nyambe is prone to muscle type injuries, Lenihan usually has a month out with a knock or a suspension. Williams rarely goes for too long without picking up some mystery injury. Then you have Evans and Holtby who if you're lucky might play 46 games between them. Up front Chapman is another one just coming back from a serious injury. I'd rather sign a player that is 100%fit and ready for action when we sign him and make some space in the treatment room. -

Great run from Howard there. Like all good players he just glided over the ground. They don't seem to be going that quickly but they never appear to get caught. Like I said earlier, wingers ? Who needs them Tony. Lenny Johnrose was interviewed on BBC TV local news at about 6-45 pm. He's very a brave guy. -
Now and again you get young players who's knowledge of game management and decision making is older than their years. I'm thinking Dolan may be one of them. On the other hand you can get older players who've never wised up and are still making the same mistakes. Lenihan is just one I can think of.

The only thing Nuttall had over Brereton is Joe knew that to score goals you've got to get in and around the 6 yard area. Keep doing that and the goals will come. Of course the rest of the team need to be getting the ball in there in the first place. -

I wish we had an Howard Gayle out wide now. I remember watching him playing for Liverpool as a young player in a European Cup game and he looked to be a terrific prospect. -

Good job the message board hadn't been invented then Herbie - it'd be melt down time, sneaking a draw with the mighty Port Vale at home. Yet 5 years later ! -
You're right there, getting inside the box is where the goals are going to come from. Until he get's that part of the game the goals will be few and far between. The point being over looked here is that we spent the £7 million 2 years ago. If we'd spent it on a proven goalscorer at that time we would probably have got a better return for our money.

You could make a nice little video of his misses. Having said that the two goals he got against Blackpool were good finishes. The second one especially. I liked how he veered out to the right slightly away from goal to put the tracking defender behind him so he either had to slow down or foul him. At the same time that move drew the keeper over slightly leaving a bigger gap on the keepers right hand side to put the ball into. Clever. -
I'd have him on the bench. He gives us another dimension to our forward play. I know it's not much help at the moment but players like Dolan gee up the crowd and get them going.

At our level you're not going to get full backs equally adept at attacking and defending. If they were that good they'd be playing in the Prem. We need to decide what we want from the full backs and set out to play that way. 4 at the back- two fullbacks who are primarily defenders. 5 at the back- two full backs who are good on attack. You can't have your cake and eat it in football. Get some wingers on the pitch and then your not relying on your full backs to make play all the time.

Rothwell needs to learn that you can get the ball forward by passing it a lot quicker than you can by just running with it.

I thought we had enough guys who aren't strangers to the treatment table without wanting to add to them. Regarding Dolan I'm delighted with what I've seen so far. However we shouldn't expect too much too soon. It's easier to run people ragged when you are fresh and they've been playing for an hour.

I'm not impressed with Lenihan, reaching out like that is really dumb defending. You're giving your opponent a chance to make a meal of it and the officials a decision to make, As for Bell ? Even schoolboys know not to clear the ball into a danger area. He had time to let the ball come across his body and then clear the ball left footed down field. He's brain dead.

I would agree that Dack has the skills to perform that role but playing him deeper would mean most of the goals he scores would dry up. -

I saw worse as an young amateur player. One guy got a bad break, he was crying out, it was cold and wet but we couldn't move him. We sent for an ambulance but the security guys couldn't find the key to unlock the gates to let the ambulance onto the pitch. Eventually they found the keys and got the gate open only for the ambulance to bog down on the pitch. We had to get the poor bloke onto a bench and carry him to the ambulance. Then we had to push the ambulance back onto the road. All in all in must have taken about 3/4 of an hour to an hour to get off the lad off the pitch. I've never forgotten that one. -

Yeah, Rovers were playing Fulham at Ewood years ago The game had only been going about 2 minutes when their centre forward and our centre half both went up for a Fulham goal kick. Our guy heads it back down the pitch, their guy comes back down, stumbles, and goes over badly. You could hear the crack on the Riverside. The guy was an experienced striker aged in his late 20's and he never really played again after that ! A really innocuous incident that you saw many times in a games in those days that went badly wrong. -

Could be his leg Stuart. I've seen it happen before if you land awkwardly and if your weight goes up your shin bone. -

Yes, very true. 60% athlete, 40% footballer. Having said that we should have made more of him by now. -

I wouldn't like to have to play against him. Not many players will beat him in a foot race. He'll be great as a centre back when they ban heading the ball.
