  1. The dingles would have had Southampton at home if they hadn't gone in the tank against Bournemouth. To quote Jim Bowen - " Just look what you might have won ".
  2. How did Trybull get injured ? Holtby must be a contender for the Vince Grella Lame Duck award. I'll say one thing for Tony, he knows a crock when he sees one. Is it too early in the year for Ayala to put an appearance in ?
  3. In that case you might like " The Mona Lisa Twins ". They're a covers band but they're really good.
  4. We wouldn't get much for Dack at the moment. He's going to have to get back to the level he was at pre-injury first.
  5. My pet hate is throw ins. When I played if you had a throw in 5 or 6 yards from your own goal line and if your opponents marked up tightly it was really hard to get the ball away. Lots of times you lost possession in a dangerous area. Nowadays you begin to take the throw about 5 yards further up the pitch from where the ball went out. Then you just shuffle up the touchline until you're about 20 yards further down the pitch.
  6. I've never been as disenchanted as I am now. Not just with Rovers and the lost decade but with football in general. I watch very little these days. The Utd v West Ham game was live on TV last night for instance. I'd rather watch Graham Hall training dogs on Channel 5 ! Not long ago I'd have been watching the game and hoping Utd lose. It's same with the national team. I only watch them in the big games. Battering Treasure Island and Transylvania holds no appeal for me. They were the teams in a spoof " Monty Python " World Cup football piss take back in the day but I'm amazed that Transylvania haven't actually got a team these days. Ludicrous wages, diving, weak administration of the game from top to bottom, matches scheduled to suit TV companies, etc etc have all combined to lessen my attachment to the game I've spent life attached to. Wives, jobs, houses, friends have all come and gone. It's a shame that the one constant in my life from the age of 10 no longer has much appeal for me.
  7. In terms of excitement it's not what it was, that's for sure.
  8. Yeah, it's nearly as bad as Tony Mogadon's at Rovers. Have we actually won an FA Cup tie in his time here ?
  9. I think that's his level now.
  10. 4 Extra is good if you like the old stuff which can be so bad it's good if you know what I mean. We've been out in Spain with no TV for 8 weeks at a time and to be honest I didn't miss it.
  11. I understand all that but with the semi's being played at Wembley win tonight and you have a good chance of getting there. Given they've not much else to play for I thought Dyche might have gone for it tonight.
  12. Shock result at t'Turf tonight. I would have put my house on the dingles beating the Southern Softies 1-0 at the Dingledome.
  13. Me too, both Mary and Florence were really good singers in their own right.
  14. Yes it's a shame she was in the shadow of Diana Ross, she was a good singer in her own right.
  15. I used to play lots American Blues and R&B stations on it but I've sort of got out of the habit. I used to tune into a Tex-Mex music site to try and polish up my Spanish but they speak really quickly. I'm a radio nut so we have a radio in every room, two in the lounge. One by my chair so I can listen on head phones if my wife has something I don't like on TV. That's not to mention the the tuner in the hi fi set up I never use these days. The Revo's are great radios, I can recommend them.
  16. He's a different style of player I know, but another Per Frandsen for me.
  17. I'm not being right after the event, I thought I posted yesterday that Root was right to bat our innings out. I can't find the post now, maybe I put it on another site. Root's first job was to make sure India couldn't win the test. His judgement was bang on.
  18. Always radio 4 in our house. We have an internet radio that can play 35,000 stations according to the maker ( Revo ) but it's always tuned to radio 4 apart from Saturday afternoons when it's Radio Lancashire.
  19. There used to be a charity game between Rochdale AFC and Rochdale Hornets RLFC. It was 40 minutes football then 40 minutes rugby league ! Can you imagine that taking place now ? Some of the rugby league lads were really good footballers having had trials at the top North West clubs. One or two of the footballers looked like good rugby league players in the making also. It was really entertaining and good fun.
  20. I thought Jimmy Cumbes was a bowler.
  21. I'm pretty sure he'd be injured in the head if he ever set foot in Blackburn again.
  22. I don't recall Field being a particularly " go it alone " type of striker. Certainly not in the way that Armstrong can be with his " shoot from anywhere" attitude.
  23. The Indian's have enough batting to chase a big total rapidly. We need to ensure that their chances of winning the game is nil. If our bowlers can't bowl them out on that wicket in over a day it's a poor do.
  24. I don't think so although he may have been involved. My memory is of a Lancashire stalwart from the 40's and 50's who never made it as far as the England team. A bit like Harry Pilling or Jack Simmons were but this bloke was before their time.
  25. Call me a cynic but I think it was significant he signed after he'd had a run out or two.
