  1. Good, that was me having a moan.
  2. Thanks for that. Is it too difficult just to have an "edit " button ?
  3. How do you edit a post in this new format ? Why does every " improvement " actually take us backwards on the site ? I was going to edit my post above to say - " There was no diving back then, If somebody hurt you in a tackle you did your best not to show it. Divers make me sick, irrespective of who they play for. What they don't realise is they're killing the game for lots of people who came up in a diver free era. "
  4. That game would have ended up with a couple of red cards at least in todays football.
  5. When I first started watching Rovers we had Bray and Whelan at Fullback. Each of those could and did play left back or right back no problem. Same later on with Keith Newton and Billy Wilson, either of those were completely at ease in both positions. Newton was good enough to play both for England when playing for England really meant something. It appears to be a modern day issue were players can't switch flanks without it being a major problem.
  6. Yeah, they've been missing that long I'd forgot about them.
  7. Who else have you got in mind ? Williams and Wharton probably won't play again this year going off Mowbrays comments and Lenihan is going to be suspended at some point in the near future.
  8. Modern refs have made a rod for their own backs. If they were refereeing the infamous Chelsea v Leeds FA Cup Final replay in 1970 it would have ended up a game of 4 a side !
  9. I agree, I'm not his biggest fan but I thought he did well today. It's ok people moaning about Buckley having to go to right back but what were our other options ? Maybe Davenport could have played there but I wouldn't have fancied Johnson there, or Trybull for that matter. Downing would have been on the wrong side. Maybe drop Johnson back to centre half and keep Nyambe at right back.
  10. Douglas had also been booked, we didn't want to go down to 9.
  11. So at the moment we've got - Wharton out JRC out Williams out Butterworth out Brererton out Evans out Bennett out Douglas maybe out Have I missed anybody out ?
  12. Yes, from that Mowbray interview I heard on the radio it could be that today was his last game of the season.
  13. I reckon he must have missed as many games as he's played in his time here.
  14. I think if we have to play a midfield player at Centre half maybe Trybull could play there. Whilst we on the subject what's the latest with Evans ?
  15. Laid out on the grass.
  16. Wrong thread I think Phillip.
  17. I remember having to head back a long kick from out of the opposing keepers hands one day when we'd been playing in the snow. It came down like a mortar shell. Without a word of a lie I saw stars !
  18. I don't know but he could play centre half and let Nyambe go back to right back.
  19. I'll get my boots down out of the loft.
  20. I'm usually on here moaning about commitment but I won't be tonight. That's all I ask for - players that have something beating under that badge on the front of the shirt. We had that today in spades. By haft time we'd lost a lad to a bad injury, given away a pointless red card and a penalty, we'd one or two other players feeling the pace. We'd be coming out without both our starting centre halves and wondering who was going to play right back. We'd every right to be thinking it wasn't going to be our day. We re-group at half time, came out with a coherent plan we obviously believed in. The manager had figured out that has long as we were still in the game with 10 minutes to go they'd be arrogant enough to think they could take it easy and that would give us our chance. Well that plan worked great and we came out with a very well deserved point. Well done to all concerned, that performance took guts and self belief. It could be a season changing performance. All the best to Wharton, he must be gutted after finally getting a well deserved first team place
  21. Some of the younger players have dropped bollocks and got carded and then not seen the first team again for ages. Just saying.
  22. If we have to go to Bristol with Nyambe and Ayala as our centre backs I wouldn't be too bent out of shape. One to get his head on everything in the air and the other with the pace to get everything on the ground. That's why Nyambe is such a valuable player.
  23. It was crazy letting Magloire go out on loan to non league knowing we have 3 injury prone centre halves plus Lenihan always has a suspension in him. Ground hog day with our centre halves.
