  1. He's run his race for me. Nothing much will change with him in charge. If people are happy with that, fair enough.
  2. If I'd a £ for every time I've heard " we were only undone by individual errors " during Mowbray's time here I'd be a fairly rich man. Winning managers evolve systems of play that are intended to eliminate individual errors. If that doesn't work they eliminate the players that regularly make mistakes and sign players that don't. We've never defended well as a unit, we fail to sense trouble coming until it happens. We've been easy to score against for too long. The word gets around in football, just keep it tight against Rovers and wait for the inevitable mistake or series of mistakes to come along, you'll get a good scoring chance. Until that situation is rectified we're going nowhere, unless it's down the table. Coventry will have watched our games and you don't need to be a genius to figure out how to play against us.
  3. We just don't sense danger as a unit until it's too late.
  4. These are the stats I'm more interested in - Tackles won, second balls won, contested headers won, interceptions, yards run. Get those stats better than your opponents and normally you'll get a result.
  5. If it doesn't what are we paying him for ? I get the impression at Rovers there is no " buck ", we exist in a responsibility vacuum. The manager can make as many mistakes as he likes and we all know nothing will happen. Same with the players, certain players can phone in performances on a weekly basis and nothing happens.
  6. I know a winning mentality when I see one in a team and we haven't had one for years. That's why we keep losing games like tonights game
  7. Saturday's game is a must win now. Another loss and we'll be looking over our shoulders.
  8. Let's see if Mowbray's " pin the tail on the donkey " selection method works this time ? Elliot better be top class that's all I can say. No matter how hard I try I can't see anything better than a comfortable win for Watford.
  9. I thought Rothwell was still isolating ?
  10. What's this " work ethic " he's talking about ? Anybody would think we had an 11 that runs their blood to water every week.
  11. I'd rather play Bell on the left wing than Gallagher on the right wing.
  12. Speedie showing Armstrong that you don't have to be a giant to lead the line.
  13. In my bit of Spain the don't use the word " cojones " in that context, it's always " huevos " ( eggs ) when they mean balls
  14. I could be wrong but hasn't he appointed all the backroom staff ?
  15. I agree with you regarding Gallagher, if he's going to be playing in the middle he needs balls played in front of him, either on the ground or in the air, that he can run on to. Expecting him to be a hold up player won't work. Playing as a lone striker is very difficult, I'd say it's the hardest role in any team. Everybody else is normally facing the direction of play, you're normally facing back down the pitch. They're usually the highest paid players in most teams for a reason. That's why the right service is all important. I wouldn't be expecting Alan Shearer in his prime getting much more that 15,16,17 league goals in this team because of the lack of service.
  16. What normally happens is a manager comes in, decides on a way of playing, and the gradually signs the players that will make the managers chosen plan work. I've never had that feeling with Mowbray. That's why we're all scratching our heads as too how to fit Armstrong, Brereton and Gallagher into a coherent attack. That's unless Mowbray thought what we really need is a 6ft 4 in right winger who can't beat a man with a ball at his feet.
  17. I bet you've got just the player for that role in mind. Having said that I agree with you. Nothing hurts you more than a central midfield player running from deep and drawing defenders out of position. Like when we had Dunny, or Berkovic and Bohinen. It's obvious Mowbray doesn't see it that way, like Southgate he's very defensive minded and prefers to central midfield players who spend most of the game in their own half.
  18. That was my worry, goal threats are pretty thin on the ground from the rest of the team. I wouldn't call Armstrong a centre forward either. He's more a goal scorer playing up front. A proper centre forward is the fulcrum of the attack and you can bounce attacking play off him, like Danny Graham was. At the moment neither of Big Ben or Gallagher are centre forwards either, Gallagher is probably nearer to the role but he's still miles away.
  19. We have lots of jigsaw pieces but they'll all from different jigsaws so far.
  20. Only one home team won in the Championship today !
  21. You're knocking Big Sam's perceived style yet you appear to have wanted us to go full " ale house " this afternoon. Somewhat of a contradiction there I think.
  22. I didn't like saying that when the euphoria about the recent signing was in full swing yesterday. You can get a bit tired of getting called negative. But that's the truth of it. Not enough of a goal threat at the business end. Lets hope the kid from Liverpool knows where the goals are.
