They like to spoil our Christmas don't they. -
LW and you've no left foot crossing ability ? You'll fit right in with modern football.

Summer Transfer Window

You and I both know that won't happen. The further down the food chain you fall the sooner the big clubs sign up your promising young players. The days of bringing the likes of Duff and Dunn through and holding on to them for a few seasons are long gone. Any of our kids impress this season in the first team and they'll be gone next Summer. -
Any sort of a foot race and you could see he was rapid. I'd back him against Vardy or King over 40 yards. He's got a very long stride.
-
I thought he was our least effective outfield player yesterday. Even the Leicester guys commented on how he did nothing to prevent a dangerous cross coming in from the guy he was supposed to be marking.
-
It's the same problem with Evans as it is with Johnson albeit Evans is a better player. Too many playing too deep.
-
Playing Holtby, Travis and Johnson in midfield means we've too many bodies playing too deep in central midfield. Possibly that's ok for away games like today but it won't do at Ewood against teams that park the bus. We could do with a mobile ball winner like Chowdrey to cover every blade of grass.
-
Me too, they were obviously watching both teams.

I watched the game on youtube earlier this evening. We stuck at the task well and matched Leicester for large parts of the game. That was encouraging. There were lots of good individual performances but we lacked a cutting edge up front. I like Holtby playing deep but we need more mobility from the other two that are playing in central midfield. Neither of Johnson or Travis got forward enough today. Nobody was carrying the ball forward, we were reduced to passing it forward lots of the time. Quite a few of the passes were picked off and set Leicester back on attack. After the subs we looked a bit livelier up front and Rothwell had one really good run were he carried the ball into the heart of their defence. Chapman and Dolan looked busy. Buckley looked class when he came on, so much so that they had to man mark him after about 10 minutes. Fisher 5 Nyambe 7, Magloire 7, Williams 7, Bell 6 Travis 6, Holtby 7, Johnson 5 Rankin Costello 7, Armstrong 6, Brererton 5 Can't really mark the subs because they didn't have enough game time but they all had an impact at some point.

And then they all get signed by the big boys this time next year. Then it's back to square one.
-
Good players carry their own space around with them. He seems to have that ability. He's never rushed either, always playing within himself.

When we won the Prem where was the competition for places then ? Barring injuries the team picked itself every week. -

We need faster carrier pigeons than the ones flying to India at the moment. -

What is the point of bringing in players to " compete " for a place with an existing players who are already regular players. Just bring in a better player and sell the existing player. The " competing " way just leaves you with two average players. -

I agree. Who would accept a job like that ? " Responsibility without Power " ? You don't touch that with a bargepole. " Power without Responsibility " is what you really want. -

Imaginative free kick. Maybe we should try that one this season. -

I agree, we're desperately sort of aggression in the team. -

Is he the only likely looking left back in the whole of Western Europe ? Surely there must be other players out there ? I suppose he could keep Dack company on the road back to full fitness. Nyambe is prone to muscle type injuries, Lenihan usually has a month out with a knock or a suspension. Williams rarely goes for too long without picking up some mystery injury. Then you have Evans and Holtby who if you're lucky might play 46 games between them. Up front Chapman is another one just coming back from a serious injury. I'd rather sign a player that is 100%fit and ready for action when we sign him and make some space in the treatment room. -

Great run from Howard there. Like all good players he just glided over the ground. They don't seem to be going that quickly but they never appear to get caught. Like I said earlier, wingers ? Who needs them Tony. Lenny Johnrose was interviewed on BBC TV local news at about 6-45 pm. He's very a brave guy. -
Now and again you get young players who's knowledge of game management and decision making is older than their years. I'm thinking Dolan may be one of them. On the other hand you can get older players who've never wised up and are still making the same mistakes. Lenihan is just one I can think of.

The only thing Nuttall had over Brereton is Joe knew that to score goals you've got to get in and around the 6 yard area. Keep doing that and the goals will come. Of course the rest of the team need to be getting the ball in there in the first place. -

I wish we had an Howard Gayle out wide now. I remember watching him playing for Liverpool as a young player in a European Cup game and he looked to be a terrific prospect.
