  1. I would suggest that getting 50% of your signings right would probably get you fired at a lot of clubs. Good managers get about 75% of their signings right. IE their signings become first tean regulars eventually. Going off the lists earlier in the thread I would suggest that Mowbray's success rate is about 20%, or being kind 25%. It's unbelievable that he's still here, only in football. In industry he would have been long gone after that sort of investment failure rate.
  2. If we're looking for someone to " integrate the lads" I would suggest that Mowbray's record in this respect is pretty poor. If that's the plan Johnno could well be a better bet.
  3. We were on their list of priorities for five minutes back in 2010. Since then we've been at the back of the drawer.
  4. I'm getting to the point were I might agree with you. Mowbray's a positive football vacuum, a black hole that's sucking the life out of the club.
  5. I was only thinking the other day if we had a time machine and we could go back how many of his signings would you still sign ? Not that many in my book.
  6. Yes, you need a few out there who can fight fire with fire if it's needed. We've been a team of nice boys that other teams know they can take liberties with for too long.
  7. Me too regarding Ferguson. He looked to have it all, in fact he reminded me of Souness himself at times. I've seen him play internationals for Scotland and be the best player on the pitch. It's inexplicable why he didn't make the grade at Rovers, maybe his heart wasn't in it ? Not every transfer works out. I remember Fergie signing Juan Veron. I thought it was a master stroke, he'd been awesome in Italy. He never made the grade either. Podborsky was another that looked to be a brilliant player until he signed for Utd.
  8. Reading between the lines the crisis hasn't been a disaster for the whole of the economy. There are plenty of firms out there doing very nicely at the moment, it all depends what line of business you are in.
  9. If I was picking a team for the Premier League since day one Keane would be one of my first picks. I've seen a lot of central midfield players in my day and I can't think of a better one than Keane. It was like having 12 players on the pitch when he was playing. Ok, he had a nasty streak but every team needs a player or two like that. At least he'd stab you in the front not in the back like some players. I remember reading an autobiography written by one of the 1966 World Cup squad. The player was a defender and he named his " Dirty bastard 11". I was really surprised at some of the forwards he had in the team. He reckoned they were sly, crafty, players who were experts at making the injuries they inflicted look like an accident.
  10. Players can hit the " wall " at any point in their thirties and it can come on really suddenly. Downing isn't worth the risk for me.
  11. Thanks for that. It's hard to get excited with the season just drifting away Dobie Gray style.
  12. A " little loyalty " to Keano saw us lose our Premiership place and it's been downhill ever since. My loyalty is always to Blackburn Rovers - players and managers come and go as they please.
  13. That's exactly it. Practice, practice, practice and then practice some more. You need to be able cross the ball in different ways. The driven cross, the floater, the chipped cross etc they all have a purpose in the game. Two things you need to know, how to cross the ball - that's a skill, where to cross a ball - that's football intelligence. It's no good having one without the other. Being able to cross with either foot is a big asset also. When I was playing I was confident enough to take a corner with either foot off either wing depending on which way the wind was blowing etc. However heading the ball was my weak point, I just never really enjoyed it. My best pal who was a top amateur centre half or centre forward, a sort of Chris Sutton style player, was a brilliant header of the ball. He wasn't particularly tall but he had a great spring, he could hang there, and he'd great control on his headers. Unfortunately he's got Parkinson's quite badly now and I wonder if the two are linked.
  14. Whoever was responsible for that signing should be back watching the under 11's.
  15. The minute Dack was injured it was patently obvious he was not going to kick another ball this. Why wasn't he replaced if only with a loan player ?
  16. Tell me somebody at Rovers that is enjoying the football at the moment ? Staff, players, fans - nobody has a smile on their face. At the moment everything about Blackburn Rovers is dull, drab, boring, tedious, uninspiring.
  17. We used to play " centring and heading " for hours at night. I did the centring so crossing a ball was second nature, my heading was crap though.
  18. Two stats there that are damning - falling behind for 8 consecutive games and failing to keep a clean sheet for 10 games. They are relegation style stats !
  19. Which woman was that ? Wasn't Dwight Yorke already here ?
  20. Me too. That was the moment I gave up on ever expecting to see Rovers as a major force again in my lifetime. I had a complete break from the club, football , this site etc. That was me done after the best part of 60 years.
  21. The ones that don't get in will be the lucky ones.
  22. How about a prediction for next season if Mowbray stays ?
  23. That tells me all I need to know about what Waggot knows about football.
  24. It's starting to look like Nyambe is going to be Raya Mk2.
