  1. He takes a good selfy though.
  2. Let's play him at centre half then because he's struggling up front.
  3. They could do with a break, somewhere warm.
  4. Who was it that was trying to tell me Gallagher was a good header of the ball when we signed him this summer ?
  5. I didn't exactly write him off although I had grave doubts about him as a footballer. I just thought he wasn't what we needed at that moment in time, especially when we were betting the ranch on him.
  6. I watched the " Highlights " video over and over. What was obvious from that video for those with eyes that see was he was never going to be more than a peripheral player in the immediate future. It told me there were more things he couldn't do than things he could do. We wanted a " Now " striker not a possible investment years down the line. Football is all about what happens in the next three months not the next three years.
  7. Some of us said exactly that at the time.
  8. The guy's been here 3 years and we need a new team ? What can I say ?
  9. Goal scorers are born not made. If you were watching the Shrewsbury v Liverpool game. Whalley was through on goal twice and never looked like scoring, Cummings comes on and with more or less two touches put two shots in the back of the net cool as you like.
  10. The dingles got rid of Vokes at the right time. His best days are behind him now. I thought he was a poor signing for Stoke.
  11. Yeah, even his mum wouldn't describe Evans as a goal grabber. He usually manages to hit the goalkeeper.
  12. I don't think item 3 is meant to be taken literally. What we are really saying is how often do they run beyond the strikers to have a pop at goal ? In fact how many goals do we score from central midfield in a season ? Most teams will at least half a dozen.
  13. Can he play like that 3 games out of 4 or was that just because of the occasion ? He's certainly worth scouting to find out.
  14. Really, Item 5 is bang on. Item 3 is right a lot of the time. Item 4 is right if that's your opinion of Bennett.
  15. That'd make you want to sign for us wouldn't it ?
  16. Doesn't say much for Rhodes does it if Sheff Wed are looking for a striker ?
  17. Having heard his interviews on Radio Lancs would you want to sign for him ? He's hardly inspiring to listen to. I was just thinking about an interview with Chris Wilder I heard and thinking what a difference in attitude.
  18. That should really say - " Mowbray on not improving the squad ".
  19. It's the mental side of the team that is a worry and it has been for years now. We haven't got enough " winners " at the club. That starts from right at the top.
  20. This time last season how many of Sheffield United's players did you think were ready for the Premier League ? In fact how many do you think are " Premier League " players at the moment ? How many big clubs are in for their " stars " ? There's more to it than individual skills. It's about, organisation, motivation, self belief etc. Most of all it's about having a good manager. That's were my argument falls down as far as Rovers are concerned. Going back in the mists of time we would have been OK going up with Ken Furphy, Jim Smith, Gordon Lee or Howard Kendall in charge. OK we'd lose more than we won but we'd make a fight of staying up. Unfortunately our current manager isn't as streetwise as they were.
  21. They're still here because they don't know how to extricate themselves from their self created mess without losing a massive amount of face. So they just let things drift along.
  22. He had a really good game. Players who can run with the ball from the half way line to the penalty area will always hurt teams no matter how good they are. He's been around the block a few times though. The thought went through my mind that he might be the sort of player that can raise his game for the big matches but not for the bread and butter league matches. If he can do as well in the tie at Anfield will be interesting. I thought Ebanks-Landell played well at the back. I didn't realise he was 27 though.
  23. Good luck to the lad but I can't see him getting in front of the guy that played left back for Shrewsbury today.
  24. Not another one that thinks Rovers should be known as Blackburn ? I thought we'd sorted that one out.
