  1. The day isn't far off when Graham does hit the wall. If it isn't next season it'll be the season after. We need a potential replacement this season. Whatever style of football we play we'll need somebody who knows where the goals are.
  2. Looking back I can see why Neville flopped in Spain. You're going into the biggest game ever and you change the system of playing from the one that has got you there in the first place. Parris who's a wide player gets to play in a sort of No10 role where she's never played before and as a consequence never sees the ball. We revert to Plan A after an hour and we're all over them like rash. Taxi for Phil ?
  3. Scored with his first kick against Bolton in his first big game if my memory serves me well. Down hill all the way after that. He was quite a slight guy with a nice left foot. Not overly quick or strong. You need to have one of those abilities to succeed playing up front.
  4. I've had three of the " TOFFS " 1960 Cup Final shirts. I had one framed, I wear one over here and the other one in Spain. My all time favorite shirt with the best crest.
  5. That's the one I still wear all the time.
  6. What about Chaddy ? The footballing equivalent of the guy who bets on all the horses in the race so he can claim he backed the winner.
  7. He looked great when he played against Rovers. Trouble was he couldn't play against us every week.
  8. Beckenbauer's come along once in a lifetime. I can't recall a player as good in that position. In his prime he was like a classy Roy Keane without the agro. I went to a sportsmans dinner a while ago with Dean Saunders. Somebody in the audience asked him who was the best player he ever played with - he said straight away " Paul McGrath, he was unbelievable at Villa, never really trained because of his knees but what a player come Saturday afternoon ".
  9. Better than last years but anything would be an improvement on that. I'll stick to the old " Uhlsport " CIS one I can still just about get in ! Now that was a proper Rovers shirt.
  10. We were on the right side of two equally narrow VAR decisions in the Cameroon game. You have to take the rough with the smooth. I would like to see the " daylight between players " rule brought back.
  11. Yes the women's game is like how the men's game was played years ago. No diving, no crowding the officials, getting the ball forward rapidly etc.
  12. I don't agree about the pen. Her striking foot was just nudged as it was moving towards the ball. Good decision via VAR.
  13. Looks like it. I take it for what it is-a game of football. Tonight's game had me on the edge of my seat.
  14. As a real pedant can I just mention that the England v Brazil game in 1970 was in the group stage. I know it felt like a semi final but it wasn't.
  15. Yeah, it turns into pass it around until you lose it in dangerous areas with most teams.
  16. I agree, you need the players that can play it out from the back to play that game. Our two girls are decent defenders but ball players they aren't.
  17. I agree about our passing, it was poor tonight. we played a bit tip tappy I thought. Nevilles influence there. I thought he dropped a bollock playing Parris up front for the first hour, it never worked with two up front and we got over run in midfield.
  18. Best team won I thought. They played a high line and we only rarely found a way through. If you miss pens you can't complain. Definite pen though, her striking foot was just nudged as she went for the ball.
  19. Just not our night. We didn't play to our strengths. Penalty was horrible. Small goalies- go high with the shot !
  20. That's it with wingers, if they aren't on song they're a passenger. Midfield has been non existent, second to too many balls. It's like watching Rovers.
  21. I'm delighted for Johnno and the club. I was always really worried he'd be enticed away.
  22. We're starting a new " Legends " team Jim.
  23. You're making the mistake of thinking Rovers work like a normal club. Who says we'll see any of whatever fee we get for Raya ? Regarding his kicking I saw a video of him training not long ago. He was side volleying the ball to a guy maybe 50 yards away with terrific accuracy. Straight to the other guy at chest height. I was a decent outfield player but I couldn't have done what he was doing so consistently. Why his kicking goes all to pot once the whistle blows I don't know, it's a mystery.
