  1. The Quotations - I Don’t Have To Worry
  2. Maybe my ears were better then, they were certainly younger, I’d be 15 when I was going down there. It was called the “ Cubi-Klub “ and The Rolling Stones were due to play there on the opening night in April 1964. They’d just released their first LP. Anyway there was massive trouble in the town that night and they didn’t appear. Mods v Rockers apparently. I saw three of them drive past the entrance to the club in a little Ford “ Thames “ van earlier on. The story was the other two couldn’t get through. It was front page news in the press the next day. The owner/promoter of the club told the press that everbody would get their money back but nobody I knew did. Years later he firked off to Brazil and every time the Stones played Rio De Janeiro he tried to sue them for lost takings. As you can see he wa s a bit of a fantasist. The poster advertising the opening of the club had a list of acts he said were already booked. Most of them never appeared ! I was in a second hand record shop in Manchester years ago and the guy had copies of that poster for sale. I’ve got a framed one in our study now.
  3. I must see my optician, I’ve had these reading glasses far too long obviously !
  4. I mean over short distances. We were talking about pace off the mark,
  5. Depends how old you are. The player that wore number six all the time when I first started watching was Mick McGrath. He was more of a defensive midfield player than a centre half. He’d only be about 5’ 9” tall so that made sense. Tronstad is the nearest to Mick we have playing now.
  6. Just looking back in Mike Hickman’s book. The attendance back then was 13,686. Will we beat that on Friday ? Being a Friday night game live on TV I think I’d be surprised.
  7. And in the opening game of 1968. Cloughie had just taken over there and you could see they were going somewhere. I remember coming off thinking I wish we’d have got him in as manager. By the way Eamon Rogers scored the first goal in the whole of the football league that day with a 3rd minute penalty.
  8. Ipswich last season were newly promoted - we lost home and away.
  9. Newly promoted team up first isn’t ideal. Better to play them in a month or two when the “ newly promoted “ shine has worn off and they’ve got a few out injured and suspended.
  10. The Showstoppers - Ain’t Nothing But A House Party
  11. That’s if they manage to get fit again. I’m not so optimistic.
  12. Supposed to be a good player with several other clubs interested.
  13. Robert Knight -Everlasting Love
  14. If they’re really class you shouldn’t be able to tell what foot they favour.
  15. Johnnie Johnson And The Bandwagon - ( Blame It ) On The Pony Express There’s a few to go at.
  16. I think he could be a player as well but he needs real match time. A starting role for somebody.
  17. It’d be handy if they’re playing predominently on that side.
  18. It’s just a better, more balanced set up. Common sense really, nothing to do with Prp.
  19. I’d have rather kept Gent than sign both of MacFadz and Baath.
  20. Give over, Sammie’s a legend, just like Speedie is.
  21. I watched “ Cause Of Death “ tonight. The cases are set in Blackburn.
  22. Mike England was another - 6’ 3” and he could really jump. I’ve seen him head corners down into the top corner of the goal. Not many tall guys can get up like that. They rely on just being tall.
